Arrowhead is an amazing Vet Clinic - the staff are professional, efficient and compassionate. We have provided care to our two dogs, Oliver and Maggie for over four years. Our needs have been varied because of the particular health concerns of our animals as they have aged. Recently, we had to put our dear Maggie down and we cannot say enough about the end of life care that she received. So our sincere thanks to Arrowhead. I would like to extend my thanks to the doctors and the support staff at Arrowhead for the medical treatment of my best friend Cash. Cash is an 11 year old sheltie that has come down with pancreatitis. From the onset of this problem Cash and I have been received with care. It is hard when a loved one is hurting but the attention of the staff to the urgent nature of our visit was appreciated. The reason I am providing the low rating is based on some of the fees charged and the amount for what, in my opinion, may not have provided the best possible solutions for care in the long term without over spending significant dollars. Cash’s blood pressure was taken 8 times during the 1st day of treatment and there was a charge of $15 dollars per time amounting to $120.00. I was told that that was in-line with other clinics and told that other clinics if I checked often charge more for taking blood pressure. I phoned clinics in several rural towns, 1 pet hospital in the city and one clinic in another city with all saying they do not charge to take blood pressure as it was part of the hospitalization charge and care. I brought this up with the doctor/owner the next morning after bringing cash down for ongoing treatment. The doctor was nice but appeared shocked in my opinion, and said if I didn’t drop this issue it would affect our relationship which I took as stopping treatment at that clinic. Having a loved one half way through treatment I dropped the subject not wanting to have to go to another clinic and possibly risk his health. The doctor also stated that the hospitalization costs at other clinics for an 8 hr day were most likely higher to cover the costs of blood pressure readings etc. Being stubborn and a little upset because my animal’s treatment could’ve been affected by this issue I called to confirm the doctor’s assumption. This again was not the case with the clinics I called. The highest 8 hour hospitalization fee I encountered was $10 greater than Arrowheads and the lowest $30 less. I did not check an animal hospital in the city as they are a 24 hr operation and it would not be fair to compare to a day clinic. I believe the staff and doctors at the clinic are competent caring people that know the animal medical profession. I also believe the charging practises leave something to be desired. They do give estimates and have an upper and lower amount which is understandable considering we are dealing with a living thing. I had posted a review on July 10th that was much more favorable. However, after conducting a review of several other clinics’s pricing for blood pressure checking and discussing my findings with the doctor/owner on the morning of July 11th, I have to edit my review. I did not post this edited review until my friend was taken care of at this clinic. Seeing that my dog was not progressing as we had hoped, we checked out a few vet clinics around the Cochrane area as well as comparing online reviews. We were able to take Cash to a nearby rural vet clinic with high ratings for another check on his health at a price that was, in my opinion, much more reasonable for same level of care. Although the staff at Arrowhead is friendly, I will not be returning with my two dogs for further care at this clinic. Read Less
