I had to make the gut wrenching decision to put my cat of 14 years down. I had my wife and friend take her there, as it was too distressing for me. They treated the whole situation with compassion, respect, and dignity. When I got my cat's cremated remains back, it came in a bag with her name stenciled into it, the urn, a card signed by all the staff. Such a heart warming gesture from a true team of professionals. I have a hamster and it is difficult to find someone who specializes in hamster care. I  called in beforehand to confirm they have a pocket pet specialist and booked an appointment. They are busy, so I did have to get an early morning appointment. Dr. Sun was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgeable and empathetic. She really involved me and explained everything in detail to me as she checked my hamster's overall health. The clinic itself seems small at first but there are lots of rooms at the back for examinations and surgery. The staff is very friendly and professional.Another added bonus is that they always have a temporary resident (possibility adoptable) cat on location whom you can play with while you wait.I would recommend this clinic. They have saved my dog twice, once after being heavily gouged by an emergency clinic. Then once my dog was stable they found me an affordable generic solution to my dogs everyday medication. They are the best animal clinic you should ever go to! I just had to take my diabetic cat once again to see Doctor Sung, she was wonderful as always. It is also all the staff that work there that are incredible. I forgot my insulin in there fridge there and Syntia came and dropped it off at my house after she was done work. I can not thank her enough! They are really kind hearted people that will go above and beyond. On a side note if you are looking for a Vet for your allergic pet, I tied everything for my dog, and Dinovite finally solved my problem. After a couple of days of my kitty being sick, I hit Yelp, at 3 AM because I was too worried to sleep, to find the best place to take him and settled on Capilano Animal Clinic. The staff here is FANTASTIC! I called in as soon as they opened and they were able to get us in within a half hour. When checking in, the staff was very friendly and compassionate. There was a bit of a delay. Our appointment was for 9:45 and we had to wait almost a half hour before the vet arrived. Do I mind waiting a little for the awesome vets here? No. But if you are time conscious this might be something to consider. The vet was very nice, apologized for the wait, and got right into examining kitty.She laid out all of the options very clearly, offering her advice and recommendations on what to do. I never once felt pressured to make a decision or do something that I wasn't comfortable with. She was also very, very transparent. Every step of the way, she let me know what she was doing, what options we had, and the approximate pricing. She was very patient and willing to go over anything with me I was worried about and answer all my questions. After picking up kitty, I was worried over the bill (things get pricey real quick in vetland) but was pleasantly surprised to find that they had given me a discount where they could. Despite my never having gone to the clinic before, they gave me the regular client discount. On top of this, they called me a few days later to check up on kitty and see how he was doing. I was recommended to see Dr. Leversedge by another animal care practitioner for some ongoing chronic health problems with my dog. Our first appointment was great and Dr. Leversedge was very caring and helpful, and I have no complaints about her as a vet. The clinic is extremely busy and the only appointment I could get within a reasonable time frame was in the middle of the day so I had to take a day off work. But I got good service so had my pet's records sent to Capitano as I expected them to be my new vet (had just moved to Edmonton).Since then my dog has had two emergencies (porcupine quills and potentially broken foot). Both times I called "my new vet" thinking they would take care of their new patient. Both times they basically said they were too busy to do anything and that my only option was to try to call other vets to see if someone else would take me. The first time this was while my dog had a bunch of quills in her face and she was freaking out and my own vet was not willing to do anything about it and now I was supposed to call a bunch of other vets while trying to calm my dog. The second time her wrist had gotten extremely swollen and she couldn't walk and was wincing in pain and they suggested that they could MAYBE see her in three days time but maybe not. Could they really care less about the health of their patient? Meanwhile I called a friend's vet who I had never see before and they were really empathetic and were able to fit me in within two hours and did an X-ray right away. I only have my one previous vet in Vancouver to compare my experience to, but they once came in from home to treat my dog for an allergic reaction and would do everything they could to care for my dog. So even though Dr. Leversedge is good, I will not be returning to a clinic who will not be there when my dog needs them. Read Less

We ended up at the Capilano Animal Clinic out of desperation after spending almost all of our funds at another animal hospital. Our cat was still dying and we had no answers. We explained our situation to Dr. Sung who was kind, compassionate and really listened to every detail we as owners thought was important in figuring out what was going on with our beloved pet. Dr. Sung had already looked over the notes from the other clinic that we had faxed over and did her physical exam. I was beyond impressed with her ability to lay out all of the possible culprits, in continuing diagnostic, and being up front with all costs and understanding our finances had been tapped at another clinic. She didn't make us feel bad for not having thousands more to spend and came up with a plan that fit our budget. We left with renewed hope, but not feeling too optimistic. Dr. Sung called personally a couple days later to check and see how our cat was doing, miraculously, he was in fact doing better, a LOT better. I cannot stress that Dr. Sung saved our cat's life. If we had ended up at another animal hospital, I feel it very likely that our cat would not be with us today. They were very kind and gentle both times I had to put my cats down, and they've been really great with my new dog. I cannot recommend Capilano Animal Clinic enough. When our house got broken into, our beloved cat got traumatized, developed clinical depression and severe anxiety and started peeing and pooping in the house. Dr. Adrienne Leversedge worked with us to address the issues. She helped us explore different options including Prozac to make sure we tried everything. When nothing helped and we had to put our cat to sleep, dr. Leversledge performed the euthanasia procedure in the most sensitive and caring way. It was one of the hardest decision we've made but our cat didn't have any quality of life with his condition. Dr. Leversledge is a real animal lover and she went out of her way on numerous occasions to make our cat and us feel comfortable. Her and all the staff at the Capilano Animal Clinic are wonderful! After a couple of negative experiences with my previous vet, I decided to stop wasting my time and money trying to find the 'right' clinic for my pet and I near my home through trial and error. Instead, I took to Yelp to check the reviews!This clinic has mostly 5-star reviews for a reason! They are always so very friendly to myself and my small dog. They don't even mind that she's a nervous vet-goer and sometimes makes a little mess on the floor.The staff/vets remember her from visit to visit, and I'm always informed promptly of any changes to privacy policies and the like, and reminded of her on-file prescriptions. I've seen 2 of the clinic's vets, and everyone I've interacted with there from doctors to AHTs to administrative staff have been friendly and knowledgable, always able to answer my questions and more than happy to give me as much reading material/information as I will take! They seem to genuinely want to help pets and educate pet parents.I didn't have the usual "sticker shock" reaction on our first visit as they are very reasonably priced. And they do remember their return customers on follow-up visits. All costs were mentioned to me during the exam and explained when I asked. They didn't force the most expensive options on me, but rather worked with me to figure out what worked for both my dog and I. And while they have in-house products (food, supplements, etc.) they didn't push the products during exams or during check-out unless I asked a question and the product was relevant (e.g., my dog has food/environmental allergies and, when we did a food trial, they carried one of the possible brands, so they mentioned as much -- they still didn't 'hard sell' it to me).I've been a happy client of theirs for at least a year or more, and with the level of care they afford my pet and I, I don't see that changing anytime soon. One of the more difficult tasks of pet ownership for me has always been finding a reasonably priced veterinary clinic that (and here`s the important part...) I TRUST!!  In this regard, Capilano Animal Clinic is a dream come true!Long story short, I have a problem cat (possession and aggression being the top issues)!  I had tried everything with this cat from spray bottles to expensive diffusers to water additives - nothing works; she`s simply off her rocker - but how I love her so (re-homing this cat is not an option as 1. she is way too troubled to last at a shelter; 2. I have had her since she was found in a ditch in the country at 2-3 weeks old so we have been through a lot together over the last 8 years) so the struggle to make a happy household for all continues!!!! My BF and myself have recently moved in together (along with our 2 cats EACH). The situation had become quite distressing on a few occasions (cat fights - mostly a lot of screaming but that`s quite alarming in itself), so in order to assure that there were no health problems causing the behavior, I elected to get Sketch (AKA problem cat) to the vet for a check up.  After reaching out to the wonderful Yelp community for recommendations, I chose to make an appointment here.  Happily they were open on Saturday so I booked with Dr. Sung.  I honestly expected that they were going to tell me to drug my cat.  But to my upmost surprise, Dr. Sung did an in depth interview with me to get an idea of how things work in our household; and after telling me that she was impressed, and that I was on the right track, she gave me some advice on some techniques we could try, and told me that drugging her would be the very last option she would recommend!  After about 30mins, I left with some reading material (including a diet plan) feeling completely elated with the service we received.They also had a little rescue cat at the office!  Cutest little dude with some pretty notable neurological problems that they have been taking care of since he was brought to them as a kitten.Moreover, on Monday morning when I went to check my email there was an email written by Dr. Sung herself summarizing our discussions and offering a few more tips that she had thought of over the weekend!  How much more perfect could it get - she cares so much about animals that she spends her weekend time thinking of ways to help them out - a true animal lover, and an absolutely amazing veterinarian!I have tried a few of the techniques and things have honestly started to calm down at home.  Since I had such a wonderful experience, and have nothing but good things to say, I will be booking the other 3 in for general health checks over the next few months.  If you have ever felt uneasy about your vet clinic, give these guys a call and I am certain they will give you peace of mind. Wow is all I can say. Real professional and really friendly. Was dropping off My cat from Hell and the staff seemed taking her was a pleasure. The vet listened to all the concerns and addressed everyone of them. She even went as far as too call a few days later and be like maybe this suggestion will work. I couldnt believe it, she was actually concerned for my animal. Ive been to other vets that prescribe meds ASAP, that zonk out my cat and they become this living log, but not here, she said no to the drugs and first we will explore every other option, she musnt be on the Redford payoff plan, just sayn.
