Not impressed with the care. My cat has been sick for over a year with the same issues. Meds, and tests costing time and money amounted to nothing. The last suggestion to "euthanize" was too much. Seems money is more important than pet care. Read Less

My fur baby was sneezing and wheezing for about a month and I finally decided to take him  to Delton walk in clinic on Saturday.  Staff are tremendously friendly and knowledgeable.  Its a learning hospital for students. The clinic is very clean and organized. The nurse and Dr. Collis are very concerned and care about your pet. Buddy walked all over the counter and across the the doctors lap top. Excellent care and the student helped me stuff buddy back into his kennel. I was not wearing my reading glasses when they gave me buddies meds, however when I got home I was not impressed with the infant formula they prescribed for    Azithromycin 200mg/5ml 15mL ABX at $40 something dollars. Physical exam $119.00 all they did was check his vitals etc. I thought they gave me free wet cat food. NOT,  I was charged $12 for 4  cans, geez is it caviar for cats ?I must say they do keep great medical records on file. I had taken 3 other cats there over the last 15 years. So kudos for that. Dr. Russell is AMAZING as are the assistants, technicians and other staff. We have been to a few other veterinary clinics but NONE, not even a tenth, have come close to Delton. They were amazing start to finish with myself and my cats. I was given comprehensive health reports as well as all options available for the treatment of my cats conditions, they truly truly, they will help you get the best price and explore any options you can or can't afford. I take my parrot Eric to Delton Veterinary Hospital. Everytime I visit, I am always treated with smiles by staff that seem to really enjoy what they do. They treat my little Eric with love and care, which is so important to me. Dr. Kachur has provided me with extra info regarding special care and nutrition concerns, and the staff is always more than helpful in answering any questions I have. Treatment options are always outlined and discussed so that you can decide what is the best for you and your pet. Overall I am very pleased with Delton Veterinary Hospital, and would not hesitate to recommend them to other animal owners especially if you need an Avian vet in Edmonton. Arriving without an appointment, I still got in very quickly. The technician understood my concern and was very supportive. The care and concern for my cat was evident. There was a bit of a wait for the veterinarian but as I had come in unexpectedly that was just fine. I left feeling that my cat would be fine. The only problem was putting eye drops in a cat! I adopted my cockatiel a few months ago and wasn't so sure about the state of his health after a few weeks of caring for him. After doing my research and considering location, I brought my little baby bird (Maru) to Delton after filling out an online appointment request form. They quickly contacted me the next day and fit me in for an appointment at the earliest convenience.My little bird had a few health complications but Dr Kachur and her staff walked me through all of it, each step of the way. They were so great at communicating openly with me, showing me all the options (and costs) for treatment plans and made it clear that they cared very deeply about the health of my little one and my experience as a pet owner. I am a few months past that now and Maru is nearly completely mended and healthy. We still visit every few weeks for check ups on his condition and the staff are so friendly, approachable, knowledgable and excited whenever we come into the door.What I appreciated most was finding an exotic/avian vet who was open and inquisitive to all options of treatment, while still remaining down to earth, approachable and cost-effective. Dr Kachur really impressed me with her knowledge and even moreso, her ambition in personally seeking more information out about Maru's condition - she wanted to be sure she could diagnose and treat with 100% confidence. It was great to see Maru steadily get better under her care, without being billed for dozens of unnecessary tests or stressful examinations.The staff at Delton is the best. RVT's Deanna and Sarah have always treated me kindly and been completely open with me, and I completely trust Maru is in good hands when he's with them! Kelly, who is always there to greet us and keeps everything organized, always makes sure that we're taken care of quickly and effectively. It's true, that veterinary care is expensive no matter where you go, but at the end of the day, you want to find staff that treat you fairly, have your pets' best interests in mind, and offer the BEST in medical care. Delton communicates clearly with you and do their very best to keep your costs in mind while still ensuring your pets are cared for. 100% would recommend. Even Maru agrees. Read Less

took our Kitty here for her first vet checkup with us. All the nurses and secretaries were friendly and helpful, and the avian vet (dr k) was patient and open about everything, and gave us lots of advice to take the best care of our feathered friend. the checkup cost $95 and they didn't provide any services that would add to the cost before discussing with us. would recommend this clinic to any bird parents!! Yesterday was my first visit to Delton Vet and both my husband and I were very impressed. We  dog sit for a friends pet and were taking him in to have his shots updated.  All the staff were friendly.  Dr. Collis was excellent and certainly knew everything in Ollie's history. I have been taking my animals there for nearly 20 years. The vets and the techs are amazing and definitely know there stuff. However I noticed a few things off in the last few visits I have had with them. There prices have skyrocketed. I'm not talking about a $50 raise. My cat unfortunately has some bladder issues and has to have extensive blood work every year.  It's use to cost a max of 5o0 but this time around it was 2500 for the same blood work in which we no longer seem to recieve a call for the results anymore. Even if it's good we would like to know. I also feel that they may of changed owners in the past few years. My cat is not allowed to be looked at by a vet without family present. He gets terrified and attacks the vets and has torn into the techs gloves on several occasions. Its recorded in his charts and the vet that we used to see was well aware but he seemed to disappear. This time they didn't care about his comfort and we're just poking and proding him. Overall I would say switch vets, they only seem to be after the dollar signs now and not after an animals best interests. Read Less

We have been taking all of our animals, cats and dogs, to Dr. Person for almost 10 years. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, and is terrific at saying I don't know if he doesn't know something, and looking it up and communicating it promptly to us. He is also very caring with palliative animals, very mindful to keep animals in Comfort vs. Doing unnecessary surgery that may prolong their lives for six months. His values are in sync with ours. I recommend this vet thoroughly. Yes, Veterinary Care is expensive. We have spent a lot of money there. And we will continue to spend our money there because our animals are worth it and they take great care of them. Read Less

I had gone here for several years... until last month.  I've always done what they have recommended for my cat and so after spending around $600 for an exam, lab tests, and prescriptions I got home to discover that one of the "prescriptions" was for Pepsid AC... human Pepsid AC... which they had cut up the foil pack, put 7 tablets in a bottle, and charged me $28 for.  A package of 25 tablets sells for $15 at London Drugs.  So 7 tablets ought to have cost about $5.  A $25 profit on over-the-counter antacids... so I hope the $25 was worth losing a client for.Their Google reviews had talked about how they are just "in it for the money" but charging SIX TIMES the retail price for an over-the-counter medication is a really egregious example.  Avoid at all costs. Dr. Person is an AWESOME avian veterinarian. You can tell that he genuinely loves animals and cares about the welfare of his patients. My parrot has seen Dr. Person twice now. Both were emergency situations after having already been seen by emergency veterinarians. Our visits to see those emergency vets were a complete waste of time and resources and didn't provide nearly as much information or insight (if any, at all) as Dr. Person did.  Each visit has been worth every penny! He managed to squeeze her in the same day for both times that I called in. He is absolutely awesome! Dr. Person will be the only veterinarian I will entrust my parrot to from now on! Read Less

I took my cat in to have him euthanized. He was very near death and they told me there was very little hope for his recovery (2 to 5%) and as I did not have the money to do any more than have him relieved of his pain I requested and signed for this to be done. When I asked to be with him as the shot was administered, I was told it would cost another $160.  I couldn't believe that this was the policy of a clinic that I had been taking my animals to for 12 years. The insensitivity was unbelievable!  They were aware that I didn't have enough money to have him treated and had to borrow the funds for the procedure. I was astounded that they would take advantage of a client's sorrow at a time like this. They agreed to let me go in for a "discount" of $90. This was for the comfort of my sweet cat; not for me!  I will be changing vets for the other two cats we own. When the money means more than the welfare of patients and their owners, it's time to move on to someone who remembers why they got into the profession in the first place. Read Less

I took my female Russian dwarf hamster there for unexplained bleeding.  He told me I was stressing her out and gave us antibiotics.  So I gave her stress bacteria?  He also said she was bleeding from her rectum. WRONG!!!! I ended up taking her to a exotic vet a week later and she had a ruptured uterus.  She was NOT stressed nor did she have an infection.  Because it took so long to have a proper diagnosis unfortunately within a month of her 1st visit to Delton she had to be put down.  Worst part was Delton cost way more for 1 visit than the 3 subsequent visits to the fancy hammy Doc.
