My precious cat got suddenly sick the night before taking him to this hospital in the morning. Due to covid they would not allow me to go in with him snd told I had to stay in the car and wait for the vet to call me. Less than 10 minutes later I get a call from a women who I assume was a vet telling me that as they took him out of his carrier he stopped breathing and that they had tried to resuscitate him but he didn’t make it. I was obviously beyond shocked because I never for a minute thought he was dying. I was confused and tried to ask a few questions and felt the person on the phone was pretty uninterested and was just trying to get me off the phone. No compassion at all. Then she starts going on about what I want to do With the body when at this point i was uncontrollably overwhelmed and grieving and I told her I can’t even think right now . She graciously offered to give us a few minutes before sending someone out with the paperwork. Very compassionate ! The absolute worst part of this experience was that this all happened while I was in the parking lot !!!!!!! I know that things are different with covid but do you really think it’s appropriate to run your business from a parking lot ??? You couldn’t have a room fully sanitized that people could go to and make these decisions and fill out the paperwork ??? Or even set up some chair under a little gazebo for people or have just lost a family member. Instead you run your business like we are doing a drug deal in a parking lot. This experience on top of losing my baby made it even harder on me. I’m making a point to tell all of my friends and family about this experience so they never take their loved ones here !!!!!!!!!! And covid is no excuse for not thinking of a better plan to deal with it. It seems horrible that I can go to the Mall shopping or go to a casino or eat in a restaurant but you can’t allow people a dignified space to receive such life changing news !!! Shame on you !!!!! Have been going to this clinic for last 4 years now. Recently my dog Sophie had TPLO surgery done here 6 months ago and she is doing fine.This clinic was recommended to me my my family friend in emergency when my cat was blocked. They help me out in that emergency and explained everything in detail at time too. After initial unblock and hospitalization for 3 days my cat went home on special food and recommended protocol. He never get blocked again, although they told me that there is chance that it can happen again. They also perform surgery for blocked male cats that prevent blocking in future. its kind of sex change surgery and making them female. i think that is cool surgery. great news is that they are high quality clinic and cost you almost half from any emergency clinic and regular clinic. Although I have a regular veterinarian, this clinic is a mere 4 blocks from my house so I've dropped in a couple of times to pick things up. Yesterday was my last timeMy 9 yr chihuahua is an extremely picky eater.  I stopped in the purchase a small bag (1.5kg) of something that the little fella would find palatable.   The girl pointed me towards a larger bag (3.5 kg), I said I'd prefer a smaller bag in case it needed to be returned.  Then I asked about their return policy. She said there is a 25% restocking fee on returned food!  What???  Restocking an open bag of kibble?? The policy with 99% of veterinary clinics is any vet food is guaranteed by the supplier. When food is returned, the clinic lets the food rep know who simply replaces the bag .... no additional cost. The food that the customer returned is either used by staff, sent home for free with someone or given to charity   This greedy place charges you 25% restocking!  Unbelievable!  While she was telling me this there were 2 other staff members sitting and listening. Nobody said otherwise. I was flabbergasted. This is a small,  petty and greedy way to make some extra coin. Won't be going back. Read Less

In my opinion Edmonton West Animal hospital is the best place to bring your pet.  My teacup poodle is now 3years old and has been to the vet a few times for vaccinations and some minor issues. Her visit yeasterday was the first time she mentally connected it with shots etc so she was a bit nervous when she came in.  As soon as she saw her favorite vet she calmed right down! They have a mutual love for each other and I think this is because Kapi knows how much all the people there truly care for her.  Everyone from the staff on the front desk all the way through genuinely love and gently care for all the animals there. Our family has just discussed adopting another puppy and we look forward to bringing our new family member there when we do. 5/5 is not enough they are easily an 11/10.  Love you guys keep up the great work! My kitty came down with an abscess on his jaw (and I feared the worse!) on Mothers' Day and my son came over to help me figure out where to take my kitty on a Sunday! We picked the Edmonton West Animal Hospital and I am so glad we did (so much so that they are now his official vet and my son has also chosen them for his two cats). Service was wonderful. Everything was explained to me and we also ended up giving him a new vaccine, etc. I was so relieved when I found out my cat was going to have his own nurse dedicated to him for the duration of his treatment. We drove 45 minutes to the clinic for them to tell us that they charge $90 for a walk in appointment. They didn’t tell us this when we called in the morning to make an appointment. I went to Edmonton West as an emergency option because I was worried about my cat who had started peeing everywhere. My regular vet recommended going to an emergency vet (not specifically Edmonton West) because they were worried about a blockage. After an exam, x-rays and a urinalysis we were sent home on a Friday and told to wait 4 business days for results. Over the course of the weekend my regular vet called 4 times to check on my cat and make sure we were okay. Edmonton West would barely give me the time of day when I called to ask if there was something else I could be doing. When the results finally came back they told me it wasn't a UTI, but diagnosed him with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis... Which is fair, but they neglected to tell me they also found CRYSTALS IN HIS URINE! Crystals are serious and can be potentially life threatening if not treated! The only reason I even knew about them was because our regular vet called and checked in again! When I mentioned he was still having problems, they recommended we bring him in and within minutes our doctor asked if we knew he had crystals because we needed to be treating them. I will never be going back to this vet, and will be warning all my pet owning friends about how this practice treats their patients and owners. I am so infuriated I spent so much money there and was not given the information needed to help my cat. Read Less

Woke up to find my kitty Fonzie with a bad abscess on his lower jaw (most likely a fight wound that got infected). My son came over to help me get care for him. He did some research online and found this clinic. We waited an extra hour for them to open instead of going to another one and I am so glad we did! As soon as we arrived, the vibe at the desk from the receptionist was very kind and caring. We got to see Dr. Gosal who is very accomplished in his field (you can read his bio on their site). He was very reassuring and explained everything very clearly and what impressed me the most is that he was able to diagnose my cat who had a very sore jaw without making him cry out in pain... Wow! I had not managed to do that and had been very concerned about Fonzie's pain level during that process. Then nurse Stephanie came in to explain more about the options on the procedures... She was a darling and I felt how both genuinely cared about my lovely Fonzie. I was also very impressed with the fact that he had a nurse assigned to his care for the duration of his stay. We picked him up later in the afternoon and again, the level of care and genuine affection for my fur baby warmed my heart. And the prices are very reasonable. I have to dispute some of the negative reviews because my experience has been pretty good. The person who said doesn't listen and issues with meds, if you knew any better why bother going to a vet. It may happen the doctor thinks it is one thing and instead another. The other about not getting a call when it is 24hr vs 5 days, then call them. They are busy and a miss call does happen. I've had a cat and now two dogs. I think yes their busy and may not call, but I just call and follow up. The care is great, price is reasonable and the doctors are great with my pets. What an absolutely wonderful clinic!We have had some horror stories of vet clinics in Edmonton, so I'm always scared to bring my dog to a new place. This place had a great set of reviews and were open until 10 pm, so I brought my dog in here for a check-up when she hurt her leg.The vet is clearly great with animals, and was very gentle and professional with our dog. He was very clear about treatment options, which I was HUGELY grateful for, and warned us of any possible complications (i.e. administering a sedative if our dog was too fidgety for the X-rays). Treatment was quick, and he brought us in a tablet to show us the X-rays and explain each one. He prescribed some medication and clearly explained and demonstrated how to administer them and happily answered all of my questions. To boot, the clinic sent in my pet insurance claim form immediately! We are extremely happy, and will likely return.I highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

Visited tonight with my cat as a walk-in, and had a very good experience. All the staff we encountered were extremely kind and pleasant, and the wait was not too long even though we had no appointment. The vet was so gentle and thorough, and she was very upfront with the costs for different tests she recommended, which made us feel very comfortable. I felt the prices were quite reasonable as well, compared to other vets we have visited in the past. My cat broke her leg on the Saturday of the May long weekend, I was unsure which emergency pet hospital to bring her but on recommendation from a family member I took her here. They were very quick to provide a proper prognosis even though she was brought in close to closing, took care of her for the night, and by the next day setup surgery. They provided care to my cat while waiting on a plate for her leg and provided post care after the procedure to monitor her, she's now home and I'm very happy with the service her cast and all the post care material they provided is top notch. Last fall I was quoted by a vet for a complete tooth extraction for my cat. With the quote being WAY more than I could afford I had made the decision to put her down. She had a broken tooth and I was completely distraught. When I took her in to Edmonton West Animal Hospital they looked her over and quoted me at less than HALF of what the other vet had for a complete extraction. My girl was going to get another shot at life. As I myself needed dental surgery out of town, they kept her an extra night stay at no charge. Sadly, after 7 months, my 15 year old baby had stopped eating and was drastically losing weight. I again had to make the difficult decision to euthanize. That was two weeks ago. The staff were very comforting throughout the process. Giving me as much time as I needed with her, offering hugs and support. Today, I arrived home to find a sympathy card in my mailbox, personally signed by all the staff. As a pet owner of almost 40 years, I have never received such personal service from a vet clinic. I will be encouraging everyone to bring their pets here. They are in this business for you and your pets, not to gouge your pocketbook. We found out from our regular vet that both of our dogs required dentals. Our regular vet quoted us, and the amount seemed very high. I started asking around, and our vet's quote was actually average, but way more than we wanted to spend. I checked with Dr Google and found this clinic and called them. We went in for a free dental exam the same day, and we were quoted SUBSTANTIALLY less, and booked the surgery. I was nervous because the amount was less. BUT! We are VERY satisfied with the overall service, all of the staff were friendly, and fantastic. Our dogs were treated well. The Dr spent a long time going over the procedure with us prior and post surgery He was showing us pics of their teeth and x rays, even though it was 9:30 at night. I had to take my puppy Stella to Edmonton West Animal Hospital a few days ago because her regular vet could not get her in right away. She had been ill - not eating or drinking, vomiting, diarrhea - and she was very lethargic. Dr. Sharma examined her and he was so gentle and caring. He gave me his direct opinion on what treatment plan he thought would be best, which I appreciated as the vet I had been taking Stella to prior to this always beat around the bush and didn't really tell me what NEEDED to be done. Dr. Sharma was straight forward on what he thought was needed and the cost. My little girl spent the day there getting blood work, X-rays and IV fluids and antibiotics (and I am betting lots of love and attention). That evening I went to pick her up and Dr. Sharma went through all of her results with me and explained her medication. The cost was exactly what he quoted. I cannot say enough about the staff at this clinic - they are all friendly and clearly care for the animals that they treat. Stella has improved completely - she is happy and playful again. And Dr. Sharma called the day after to check in and see how she is doing - I really appreciated that. This is my second time going to the Edmonton West Animal Hospital and I am pleased with their service and pricing is cheaper than any others. That's what brought me to go there to begin with and now I drive 30 minutes across the city just to go there. Why? Because the service and pricing can't be beat. I've seen 2 Dr's and both were nice, calm, gave me tips and information on my puppy's breed and things to look out for, like breed-specific issues I may come across and actually my pup has crusties at the tip of her ears and he said it's just poor circulation and there are meds but may not work and he continued on by giving me tips and all that without pushing me to buy meds. I adopted a cat who had been a stray and when found had her right front arm through her collar where it had embedded itself and had to be surgically removed by Animal Control. The wound was very close to being healed, but where it was deepest, refused to close up and continually got infected. I had taken her to other vets who kept putting her on antibiotics which cleared up the infection for awhile, but it continued to come back. I was told she would need a skin graft at an outrageous cost. This clinic was recommended to me by a friend in rescue. I made an appointment, and was told that that they felt the wound could be closed without the skin graft and through much less invasive surgery. For a very small percentage of what I was quoted elsewhere, the simple surgery was done and she is perfect!! Wonderful staff at this clinic. It is so obvious that all the staff at this clinic is here because of their love for animals! I have and will continue to highly recommend you to everyone I know!! When my cat had a serious medical emergency, I was very relieved that this clinic took my cat in immediately. They kept her overnight and provided all the proper services she needed. The downside to my experience was that the vet I saw essentially listed everything that could go wrong and the costs to each of the procedures he MAY have to do. Unfortunately, he didn't give us really any advice, he just said that we had to choose what to do and what to pay for. He then admitted that he didn't actually do an examination before speaking to us - he just visually observed her. This was a bit concerning as he was listing off costs without actually having touched her yet. It felt like being served a menu of treatments and asked what I wanted to order, when all I wanted was for the vet to check her out and give his advice.All that being said, she turned out to be okay after spending the night there. They did their job and all was well. If I had another emergency and my regular vet wasn't open, I would still take my cats there again - but next time I would request an actual examination before being served my menu. Read Less

Two weeks ago our Rottie got sick started vomiting blood and we brought him into another vet hospital where they did a blood test and an X-ray to try and figure out what was wrong with him. They couldn't find anything so they recommended us to Guardian emergency vet hospital because he needed an ultra sound because they thought he probably swallowed something. They did the ultra sound and found nothing so decided to do another blood test and after $2500, Shady was diagnosed with parvovirus. They quarantined him and was giving him the care he needed but Shady had such a bad case that each day he was at guardian they charged us $1200 dollars if not more a day. When the 3rd day came around and our bill was up to about $8000 I had to start reaching out for help. I started a gofundme to try and get donations and reached out to animal rescue places. Guardian not once told me I could transfer my dog!!!! They simply told me if it was getting to expensive to put Shady down. They did not care about my dog a single bit. They're just a money grabber. It was then Zoe's animal rescue got back to me with the contact info for Edmonton West Animal Hospital. I transferred Shady the next day where he stayed at for the next 7 days! And was about the same cost as shady staying at guardian for one day! Shady has now fully recovered from parvo and is back to himself and I have Zoe's animal rescue and Edmonton West Animal Hospital to thank! He would not be with us without them!!!!!! Amazing experience!! A few nights ago, one of our dog Doobie's teeth was ripped out. He had periodontal disease. I was hysterical when I called at 9PM, and needed to get in right away. I was terrified of what the outcome would be. I called them about 4 times and the receptionist was amazing and answered all my questions. She calmed me down and my fiancé made an appointment for the very next morning at 8am. We brought him in and the vet was very patient and knowledgeable! We felt very relaxed and reassured. He assessed his teeth for Free! He needed surgery. We picked Him up at 8pm the same evening! The receptionist and doctor explained All the post op meds and care for a little guy. All his teeth were removed. The cost was very reasonable! My prior vets quote was $2500! We are now 4 days post op and he's doing great! I would recommend them to anyone! Such an incredible experience. Our puppy had been experiencing a lot of pain and having trouble urinating for months. After a very costly misdiagnosis at another clinic we did some research and came in here as a walk in. Dr. Sharma was so knowledgable, thorough, and compassionate and he took the time to answer all of our questions. As he suspected, our dog had a sizeable stone that required surgery to be removed. It's crazy (and terrifying) to me that the last vet we saw somehow missed this, but this is the value of finding a vet that actually cares! She was x-rayed, diagnosed, and booked for surgery the next day in less than an hour. After a successful surgery the next morning, we were able to pick her up the following day.  I'm still amazed at the quality of care for the price. We spent a fraction of the fortune we expected to pay, and they were totally transparent with all of the costs along the way. 10 Stars!! We were referred to the clinic in an emergency situation, or dog was hit by a car, and we were quoted a staggering amount to perform surgery by the emergency vet that we went to. We got a quote over the phone, after sending x-rays to Edmonton West Animal Hospital. The staff consoled us, explained procedures, let us stay with him until he could be settled. At a time of crisis, we were supported 110%. All the staff were amazing, they are truly the most compassionate and caring vet staff that I have met. We will forever be in their debt for taking Koda in, completing the surgery and doing it for a set price. The money isn't so much a factor as the attention and care they provide to the people as well as the animals. I cannot say enough good about this vet, I HIGHLY recommend going here, we will be from now on. Read Less

I'm not sure I could describe how much I love this clinic! Before coming here I had multiple bad experiences but upon doing my research to find a new clinic I couldn't find a single bad review on this place. After my first visit I could immediately tell why! These vets truly care about the animals and not about making a buck. I wasn't suggested to do ridiculous tests on my sick cat, but instead was suggested a simple prescription which worked and my cat was back to feeling normal again in no time. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. It's a bit of a wait when you make an appointment, sometimes you can  wait much longer than you anticipate, but it's because the doctors are thorough and caring. Their hours are amazing they're open 8-10 on week days and 9-9 on weekends. You can't beat that. They're open 365 days a year, that's dedication. And their prices are amazing. I adopted a senior dog and brought her in for a checkup and she needed some surgery, they got her in 2 days later. We had a small complication after we brought her home and they were so fantastic about bringing her back in and sorting it out, calming me down and assuring me I didn't break my dog. We have taken our cat and dog here for check ups and vaccinations. They have late hours! Till 9pm on Saturday's and Sunday's. The rest of the week till 10pm. We have been to a few vets in town and so for this place has been the most affordable. The staff are very pleasant. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Just awesome! Brought my pup in because she was having some anal gland problems. Came in as a walk in...on a Sunday..and we were seen quickly. Thank you for having such great hours, because we know animals never get sick during 'regular business hours'. Dr. Sharma took great care of her and she's feeling so much better. Can't go wrong with the price if you choose to come to this clinic.  I did and I am very happy with their service and the quality I received from both doctors.  I have two senior dogs and both of them had rotten teeth.  You can smell their breath from a feet away.  It was Sunday when I decided to take one of my dogs for dental care and vaccines with Dr. Gosal.  Best decision I ever made.  I thought I wouldn't be able to afford the costs but I was wrong.  All I can say is the costs I paid for both senior dogs for dental work including cleaning, extraction (one received full extraction) and vaccines was one third of what you will pay elsewhere.  Both Doctors want the best for the animals.  Their prices are so reasonable and affordable. You will get the best quality of work with their low prices.  Give this clinic a chance, your pet(s) will thanks you and so will your wallet.Both of my senior dogs are much happier since their dental care.  My 11 years old will be going back in two weeks to see Dr. Gosal for sagging skin surgery on its back leg.  Dr. Gosal already quoted me his price and I don't think I can get it elsewhere unless it is free of charge.Kudos to the people working in this clinic.  I cannot thank you and your staff enough for the amazing work you have done for us. I met with Dr. Gosal today and he was extremely knowledgable about possible concerns with my Bernese puppy. The receptionist was friendly and I was happy to be seen on a Sunday with short notice. They sell Royal Canin brand pet food in the lobby, this was an added bonus for me because I needed  to restock our prescription cat food. They also let me know they can order food with one day's notice. Read Less

The costs given were what I was charged. I had asked them to check his ears and he had ear mites. I had never heard of them and they treated my puppy before we left. I will have to go back for another treatment. He was a rescue dog. The price was extremely reasonable including the microchip and collar.I will recommend them to other dog owners Read Less

Great service! Amazing prices. But sadly the doctors are both east Indian, and are bad at speaking in english..  The one i can barley understand and he is quiet bossy. But it was a nice clean place and the receptionist was very polite and new quiet a bit. But I my mother will be going back as the treated her cats very nicely! :) Read Less
