Where do I even begin to start, in regards to writing a review about Ellerslie Pet Hospital?First let me give you the back story, to what lead us to find Dr. Kewish and the staff at this facility. My wife and I moved to Edmonton from Toronto, precisely a year ago. We brought with us our dog, Cricket, a Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix. She is now two years old, however for an entire year we fought a never-ending battle. When we got her she was diagnosed with giardia, so we worked on that with a special brand of food to firm up her stool. Soon after she had an ear infection, which we got medication for via our vet in Toronto. Soon after Cricket started losing ALL her fur and was consistently gnawing and scratching at herself. At numerous times we thought she was going to die/we thought we should just put her down. We tried everything imaginable. Special shampoos, medications, fancy probiotics. Back in Toronto every vet we talked to, wanted THOUSANDS of dollars for tests (cytology, histology, etc). Unfortunately in Toronto, the average person does not have that kind of money, even though the vets love to make you feel like garbage and a poor pet-parent for not unconditionally paying their obscene prices. When we came to Edmonton we heard about a vet called Park West, it was close by and got positive reviews. We took her there, had her spayed there, etc. Unfortunately, although they were nice and helpful, Cricket just did not get any better.A friend of a friend STRONGLY urged me to take Cricket to Dr. Kewish. I put it off for awhile, as Ellerslie Pet Hospital is a fairly long drive away, roughly 30-40mins. The reviews I read were all fairly decent, some were mixed in nature. Plus we had been burned before by visiting vets, I didn't want to haul Cricket and ourselves over there for nothing. This friend of a friend got Dr. Kewish to actually call and speak with me. At this point we were seeing improvement by switching to raw alpaca patties and a wet vegetarian formula. Dr. Kewish was straight up and honest from the very start, she admitted that she was merely a vet and not a miracle worker, like my friend talked her up to be. So, after talking with her, I decided it was worth a shot. When we arrived to the clinic we were greeted by a VERY friendly staff. The front-end is a standard/typical vet set up. We met with Dr. Kewish and her husband, both were amazingly friendly. We had our "meet and greet" with Dr. Kewish and the most ironic twist is, she basically said word for word what we were telling previous vets. I LOVE that we were right, and I LOVED the enthusiasm Dr. Kewish gave when we confirmed the questions she asked. Dr. Kewish also very carefully laid out the various pathways and the results that could happen under each factor. We ended the visit with Dr. Kewish's husband giving us a tour of the facility, which was amazing to see. It was also great to hear that Dr. Kewish was the ONLY clinical pathologist, in all of Alberta! The following week we scheduled Cricket for a skin biopsy test, as we all felt it was the most ideal way to determine what the underlying problem was. They were nice enough to let Cricket stay overnight, so they could do the procedure in the morning, as well as hold onto her until we got there after work. When we got there we were given medication for her ear infection, yeast infection as well as antibiotics for the biopsy wounds. It has now been just over a week since the procedure and our dog is looking and acting like a completely new dog!!!!!! Dr. Kewish also gave us the results of the biopsy procedure and medication that will better address our dogs problems. She is VERY confident that with this treatment, our dog will gain all her fur back and begin to look as she acts, amazing.I cannot recommend Dr. Kewish and Ellerslie Pet Hospital enough. They have given us our little baby back and we will forever be grateful for everything they have done.If you're in need of a vet, for any reason. Please look no further than Dr. Kewish and Ellerslie Pet Hospital. No matter where you live in the Edmonton area, its suburbs, etc. Schedule and appointment with this facility ASAP! Read Less
