I am currently in the process of being given my friends cat, as she is moving out and cannot have a pet. The cat is 2 and has never been spayed which is something I need to be done before having a second cat in the house. I called around a few different places, all of them quoting me the same $300-$400 for a spay, and giving all additional costs in the quote. When I phone this place, the man told me it would be "$159.00 that with everything included, and the anesthetic unless the cat is in heat, it will be an extra $25.00-$65.00", apparently it was my bad assuming that that meant "everything included"... I have never personally spayed a cat, but I figured this seemed like a decent amount, considering the Edmonton Spay And Neuter Clinic is roughly the same, but with a 3 week wait. The man on the phone here told me he had just had a cancellation for the next morning, so I booked in. I made clear at the beginning of the phone call that my friend would be dropping the cat off, so obviously, he should be quoting me a realistic amount. My friend took the cat in the next morning, and to her surprise, the $200.00 I had given her was not even close to enough. At this point, it was just quicker and more convenient to get it done there regardless, as I had not booked any other appointments once I thought this would be a good option. Instant regret. They ended up saying that cats over 1 year are pretty much ALWAYS in heat (so why did he fail to tell me this on the phone when I was calling for a quote and provided the cats age?), they charge a mandatory $20.00 for a cone (again, I feel like this should be in the quoted amount), they charge around $40.00 for medicine which is optional but recommend (another thing that I feel a professional business should mention when you are calling for a quote), among other charges that added up to an extra $150-$200.00 on top of the $159.00 fee I was quoted. Would I have brought the cat in to this clinic had I known all of the extra charges? Probably, as it was a convenient time, and still lower prices than other places with longer waits. Would I ever bring one of my pets here in the future? No chance. If these guys were more legitimate on the phone, yes, I would probably have come back in the future. At this point, never again, and I will not ever recommend them to anybody. The cat hopefully was spayed properly, and we will hopefully not have any issues like her tattoo being doubled onto another persons pet as was stated in another review... Wishful thinking is what got this two stars. Good luck on your future endeavors... There will always be people desperate enough to jump on a deal like I did... But maybe next time, when somebody says they are having their friend drop a cat off to be spayed, give a proper quote so that a friend isn't there wondering why she was not given enough money. Not just a base quote. Read Less
