Perhaps if the staff were friendlier and professional it would make a huge difference. Also, the premises are very old, unclean and not up to standards compared to other clinics. Receptionist who was working Feb 5th was the most unprofessional and rudest person I have dealt with. They have a special way in dealing with customers and appointments-by poor treatment and making them wait in an untimely manner-thankful I found a much better vet who has proper customer service.

The staff here are absolutely top notch. They were compassionate, caring and went out of their way to accommodate and help me at the most difficult time any pet owner faces as I had to put my kitty down. Without any previous history with the clinic, Dr. Steele answered my questions, was patient with my emotions and was willing to come in just for my appointment on the day I had to take my kitty in. I am forever grateful that I found this clinic!

I can't speak to the quality of the veterinary care - because we walked out before that could happen. From the minute we walked in, the customer service was quite bad. No one greeted us for several minutes while I stood there awkwardly with my dog. Finally I asked someone for water for my dog and she acknowledged us.
They placed us in the exam room quite quickly and said the doctor would be in shortly. The doctor came in about five minutes later, looked at me and said "never book a Friday afternoon appointment. I have to go take care of the important ones and I'll be back". I found this to be quite insensitive, as they had given me this appointment, I didn't request a Friday afternoon. Also, I had rushed home from work to make it on time. They left us in the room for at least 20 minutes. I went into the main area (it had air conditioning and my dog was panting like crazy). I asked the vet tech how much longer it would be and she said "I have no idea". I decided I didn't want to give them my money and rescheduled with another vet office.
A big waste of time on my Friday evening for really poor customer service and an office that didn't seem to want my service at all.

It's hard to find a good bunny vet. South Side Animal Hospital is where I will always take my buns and where I'll recommend. Took my rabbit here to Dr Heather Steele. She was experienced and wonderful with my bun. She cancelled her personal plans to stay late to perform emergency surgery. My bun made it through surgery, but later died at home in my arms, sadly, but not for fault of the hospital. Dr Steele didn't charge me the full cost of the surgery, even though I didn't ask for a discount and she had no obligation at all to give me one. Everyone there was wonderful.

My Great Dane had her spay and gastropexy done here and the entire experience was positive. Everyone there is very caring and are there for the animals, and not there only to make money. I did a lot of shopping around and I cannot believe how expensive other places are. Just because they charge more doesn't mean they are better. It has been over a month and there has been absolutely no problems. Thank you everyone at South Side Animal Hospital!

I'm not sure I have ever felt more comfortable bringing my pets anywhere. When a pet is sick it is heartbreaking, and the staff here are outwardly compassionate not just to the pet owners but the pets themselves, going above and beyond to make your little fur babies well again. They were also amazing when not much else could be done. When I had to put down my rabbit they consoled me, made sure she was comfortable let me sit with her for as long as I needed. I live halfway across the city but will never take my critters anywhere else

This has been my vet for over 20 years. My first cat Lucky who developed diabetes and who passed away at 12 years of age. The staff was very kind when the time came to let her cross over, that was about 14 years ago now. I have 3 senior cats now, who have been with South Side since the beginning. Scotch has been diabetic for about 8 years, Jager had interstitial cystitis and e.coli which we were able to clear up and Nikki was prone to UTI but after switching her food years ago she hasn't had a problem since. They have always been diligent in my cat's wellbeing. Thank you!

Hey, remember when South Side Animal Hospital was the place to go? Yeah... not so much anymore. Seems like they have high vet turnover, so when you go in you're always seeing a vet that doesn't know your pet well, and the people in office are totally incompetent. Between not providing information to specialists when we needed it to messing up our dog's prescription, they've gone downhill fast. I don't think the vets are to blame in the least, as they seem fine, but maybe the manager is letting them, and pet owners, down. Time to move on. (Oh, but they won't just transfer your file. They'll hassle you about it. Nice.)

I brought my two rabbits to visit Dr. Heather Steele at the South Side Animal Hospital for a routine check up. I was very pleased to find a vet who was extremely knowledgable about them as it can be difficult to find a vet who treats rabbits, let alone one who really knows what they are doing with them. My rabbits are both seniors (9 and 10 years old) so they're starting to have some health problems.Heather went through all the usual issues rabbits could have (teeth, arthritus, ears, weight, etc.) My one rabbit (Clover) had a clean bill of health. However, my lop (Phil) needed some extra help. She was really great at explaining everything he needed done and why it was important. This made me feel very confident about the treatments needed. I had a similar experience with the staff member at the front desk. Phil needed some medication and she was great about walking me through how to administer it. I would absolutely recommend this clinic.My only tip? If you can avoid it, I recommend against making an appointment on Saturdays. Their hours are super limited so if there is any sort of emergency, it can turn into a fairly long wait. Definitely make sure you have a solid 2 hour block free just in case.

I went to the South Side Animal Hospital because I needed an International Animal Health Certificate to travel to Brazil with my pet.
They gave me a rough estimate of the services by phone, which helped me to plan in advance.
When I got there, they are really amazing, kind and caring with Preta.
They knew the required procedures and documents. Everything went smoothly.
At the end, they reinforced that if I needed anything else, I could contact them anytime. It was reassuring because Animal Health Certificates are usually time sensitive (10 days to expiration)
I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I will recommend this clinic to everyone! On my dog's first check up Dr. Steele spent so much time talking with us. She was very informative and progressive - something that really impressed me. We had Sprocket spayed and there were concerns because her mother has complications and we were worried they could be hereditary. Dr. Fisher spend considerable time looking into it, even speaking to the other clinic to understand what happened. My breeder was so impressed she will be recommending the clinic to people. Also she did an ovarexctomy (?), a newer procedure that is easier on the dogs. Such a progressive clinic!
My spouse had been taking his dogs here for years. Even though it is certainly not the closest clinic for us the service is well worth the trip!

By far the best clinic we have visited! Our little cat has issues with a deformed toe and leg that required orthopedic surgery. We had visited a couple clinics looking for answers to the cause of his pain and had tried South Side Animal Hospital after a recommendation from a good friend. Dr. Steele went above and beyond as she researched treatment possibilities and outcomes for our little guy and explained everything so well. We felt very well informed and confident that our cat would receive the best care from Dr. Steele and the staff at South Side. Our cat has since had surgery on his foot and the whole process has gone so smoothly thanks to Dr. Steele and the staff's caring and compassionate approach. He is healing well and (unlike a typical cat), loves visiting the clinic! Thank you South Side! :D

The staff are kind and our vet is excellent, she sits in the floor with my dog rather than making her stand on the table so she's more comfortable. They are up front about costs and make sure you know exactly what procedures are being done. Now that my dog is a senior I have to bring her in more often and I'm happy I can bring her here.

I love the staff & Doctors at South side, and more importantly, so do my dogs! My little one drags me through the door whenever we go and my they are so patient with my big guy, even when he is trying to eat them! I appreciate that they fully explain treatment options and help me decide what is best for my dog, rather than suggesting the most extreme or expensive option first, as I've experienced with other clinics. On our first visit (we couldn't get in with our regular clinic for an urgent issue), they noticed & diagnosed my dog's demodex (mange) which had been misdiagnosed and treated (steroids & prescription diet) as a food allergy at our previous vet for over a year. I will never go anywhere else and recommend them to all pet lovers know.

My parents have been taking their animals here for years and so I have gone here on many occasions to pick up pets, drop pets off etc. I have been here to put pets down as well and it was super hard. The staff here are what makes this vet clinic amazing. They are so caring about their clients (both the two and four legged variety). When we had to put down our 21 year old cat, the staff all signed a sympathy card - which they totally didn't have to do. It was so sweet.They also take great care of their animals while they are boarding them or caring for them. My only issue is that their prices are super high. I can't afford to take my pets here, but I know my parents are super happy with this clinic.

Perhaps if the staff were friendlier and professional it would make a huge difference. Also, the premises are very old, unclean and not up to standards compared to other clinics. Receptionist who was working Feb 5th was the most unprofessional and rudest person I have dealt with. They have a special way in dealing with customers and appointments-by poor treatment and making them wait in an untimely manner-thankful I found a much better vet who has proper customer service.

I wouldn’t take my cats anywhere else! Dr. Fisher and her staff are nothing short of amazing and I would recommend them to anyone with a pet. Keep up the great work!

The staff here are absolutely top notch. They were compassionate, caring and went out of their way to accommodate and help me at the most difficult time any pet owner faces as I had to put my kitty down. Without any previous history with the clinic, Dr. Steele answered my questions, was patient with my emotions and was willing to come in just for my appointment on the day I had to take my kitty in. I am forever grateful that I found this clinic!

I can't speak to the quality of the veterinary care - because we walked out before that could happen. From the minute we walked in, the customer service was quite bad. No one greeted us for several minutes while I stood there awkwardly with my dog. Finally I asked someone for water for my dog and she acknowledged us.
They placed us in the exam room quite quickly and said the doctor would be in shortly. The doctor came in about five minutes later, looked at me and said "never book a Friday afternoon appointment. I have to go take care of the important ones and I'll be back". I found this to be quite insensitive, as they had given me this appointment, I didn't request a Friday afternoon. Also, I had rushed home from work to make it on time. They left us in the room for at least 20 minutes. I went into the main area (it had air conditioning and my dog was panting like crazy). I asked the vet tech how much longer it would be and she said "I have no idea". I decided I didn't want to give them my money and rescheduled with another vet office.
A big waste of time on my Friday evening for really poor customer service and an office that didn't seem to want my service at all.

It's hard to find a good bunny vet. South Side Animal Hospital is where I will always take my buns and where I'll recommend. Took my rabbit here to Dr Heather Steele. She was experienced and wonderful with my bun. She cancelled her personal plans to stay late to perform emergency surgery. My bun made it through surgery, but later died at home in my arms, sadly, but not for fault of the hospital. Dr Steele didn't charge me the full cost of the surgery, even though I didn't ask for a discount and she had no obligation at all to give me one. Everyone there was wonderful.

My Great Dane had her spay and gastropexy done here and the entire experience was positive. Everyone there is very caring and are there for the animals, and not there only to make money. I did a lot of shopping around and I cannot believe how expensive other places are. Just because they charge more doesn't mean they are better. It has been over a month and there has been absolutely no problems. Thank you everyone at South Side Animal Hospital!

I'm not sure I have ever felt more comfortable bringing my pets anywhere. When a pet is sick it is heartbreaking, and the staff here are outwardly compassionate not just to the pet owners but the pets themselves, going above and beyond to make your little fur babies well again. They were also amazing when not much else could be done. When I had to put down my rabbit they consoled me, made sure she was comfortable let me sit with her for as long as I needed. I live halfway across the city but will never take my critters anywhere else

This has been my vet for over 20 years. My first cat Lucky who developed diabetes and who passed away at 12 years of age. The staff was very kind when the time came to let her cross over, that was about 14 years ago now. I have 3 senior cats now, who have been with South Side since the beginning. Scotch has been diabetic for about 8 years, Jager had interstitial cystitis and e.coli which we were able to clear up and Nikki was prone to UTI but after switching her food years ago she hasn't had a problem since. They have always been diligent in my cat's wellbeing. Thank you!

Hey, remember when South Side Animal Hospital was the place to go? Yeah... not so much anymore. Seems like they have high vet turnover, so when you go in you're always seeing a vet that doesn't know your pet well, and the people in office are totally incompetent. Between not providing information to specialists when we needed it to messing up our dog's prescription, they've gone downhill fast. I don't think the vets are to blame in the least, as they seem fine, but maybe the manager is letting them, and pet owners, down. Time to move on. (Oh, but they won't just transfer your file. They'll hassle you about it. Nice.)

I brought my two rabbits to visit Dr. Heather Steele at the South Side Animal Hospital for a routine check up. I was very pleased to find a vet who was extremely knowledgable about them as it can be difficult to find a vet who treats rabbits, let alone one who really knows what they are doing with them. My rabbits are both seniors (9 and 10 years old) so they're starting to have some health problems.Heather went through all the usual issues rabbits could have (teeth, arthritus, ears, weight, etc.) My one rabbit (Clover) had a clean bill of health. However, my lop (Phil) needed some extra help. She was really great at explaining everything he needed done and why it was important. This made me feel very confident about the treatments needed. I had a similar experience with the staff member at the front desk. Phil needed some medication and she was great about walking me through how to administer it. I would absolutely recommend this clinic.My only tip? If you can avoid it, I recommend against making an appointment on Saturdays. Their hours are super limited so if there is any sort of emergency, it can turn into a fairly long wait. Definitely make sure you have a solid 2 hour block free just in case.

I didnt have a vet here in Edmonton. I used to live in US and my Yorkie named Preta would visit our vet when we were there.
I went to the South Side Animal Hospital because I needed an International Animal Health Certificate to travel to Brazil with my pet.
They gave me a rough estimate of the services by phone, which helped me to plan in advance.
When I got there, they are really amazing, kind and caring with Preta.
They knew the required procedures and documents. Everything went smoothly.
At the end, they reinforced that if I needed anything else, I could contact them anytime. It was reassuring because Animal Health Certificates are usually time sensitive (10 days to expiration)
I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I will recommend this clinic to everyone! On my dog's first check up Dr. Steele spent so much time talking with us. She was very informative and progressive - something that really impressed me. We had Sprocket spayed and there were concerns because her mother has complications and we were worried they could be hereditary. Dr. Fisher spend considerable time looking into it, even speaking to the other clinic to understand what happened. My breeder was so impressed she will be recommending the clinic to people. Also she did an ovarexctomy (?), a newer procedure that is easier on the dogs. Such a progressive clinic!
My spouse had been taking his dogs here for years. Even though it is certainly not the closest clinic for us the service is well worth the trip!

By far the best clinic we have visited! Our little cat has issues with a deformed toe and leg that required orthopedic surgery. We had visited a couple clinics looking for answers to the cause of his pain and had tried South Side Animal Hospital after a recommendation from a good friend. Dr. Steele went above and beyond as she researched treatment possibilities and outcomes for our little guy and explained everything so well. We felt very well informed and confident that our cat would receive the best care from Dr. Steele and the staff at South Side. Our cat has since had surgery on his foot and the whole process has gone so smoothly thanks to Dr. Steele and the staff's caring and compassionate approach. He is healing well and (unlike a typical cat), loves visiting the clinic! Thank you South Side! :D

I've taken my dog to several different vets in the city and this is the best clinic we've been to. The staff are kind and our vet is excellent, she sits in the floor with my dog rather than making her stand on the table so she's more comfortable. They are up front about costs and make sure you know exactly what procedures are being done. Now that my dog is a senior I have to bring her in more often and I'm happy I can bring her here.

I love the staff & Doctors at South side, and more importantly, so do my dogs! My little one drags me through the door whenever we go and my they are so patient with my big guy, even when he is trying to eat them! I appreciate that they fully explain treatment options and help me decide what is best for my dog, rather than suggesting the most extreme or expensive option first, as I've experienced with other clinics. On our first visit (we couldn't get in with our regular clinic for an urgent issue), they noticed & diagnosed my dog's demodex (mange) which had been misdiagnosed and treated (steroids & prescription diet) as a food allergy at our previous vet for over a year. I will never go anywhere else and recommend them to all pet lovers know.

My parents have been taking their animals here for years and so I have gone here on many occasions to pick up pets, drop pets off etc. I have been here to put pets down as well and it was super hard. The staff here are what makes this vet clinic amazing. They are so caring about their clients (both the two and four legged variety). When we had to put down our 21 year old cat, the staff all signed a sympathy card - which they totally didn't have to do. It was so sweet.They also take great care of their animals while they are boarding them or caring for them. My only issue is that their prices are super high. I can't afford to take my pets here, but I know my parents are super happy with this clinic.
