I came into the clinic early one evening with my friend, because her dog had been acting really unusual and not eating. She was really distraught and upset and she has anxiety issues, so I came with her to help lend some moral support. We called ahead and let them know that we were coming down, I think someone named Emeril answered the phone and she asked us a few questions and let us know that they would be ready and waiting for us, and gave us directions to their new location as well. Her calm and friendly demeanour on the phone, really helped my girlfriend calm down a bit as I was driving down there. We pulled up and went inside, it was pretty busy inside. We went up to the reception desk and a girl named Sarah, gave us some paper work to fill out and asked us why we had come in....we told her and right after that she asked if we could get the dog on the scale, so we did. She was really short and kept cutting us off while we were trying to answer her questions, which seemed kind of irrelevant at the time. Because all the questions she was asking, were the same ones on the papers we were trying to fill out. The whole time this is happening, my girlfriend is almost crying and getting more and more upset because this Sarah girl is really loud and high strung and this was making her more on edge. I should also mention that my friend, doesn't make a lot of money so she was pretty worried about the costs involved. So after bombarding us with questions, she abruptly says that she'd like to take my friend's dog in the back for a TPR, and asked if they had permission to insert an IV. Then she tries taking the leash from my friend, but we stopped her and asked what a TPR was and why they needed to put an IV in. I could see that my friend was starting to freak out about this, probably wondering what all this meant and what it cost. So I cut in and asked what the exact costs for the IV was, and Sarah replied that she couldn't tell us that... but that someone would go over an estimate with us. My friend finally said that Sarah could take the dog for a TPR, but that she wanted to talk to a Doctor before they put an IV in. Okay, so then Sarah practically yanks the leash out of my friend's hand and basically drags her dog into the back. My friend bursts out in tears at this point, and a minute later Sarah comes back and says that she'll put us in a room. She does, my friend is still crying, and she says someone will be with us shortly and closes the door abruptly. My friend is almost hysterical now, because she feels like someone just stole her sick dog away from her with hardly any explanation. Finally a Doctor comes in to talk to us, really great Dr actually, very nice person. He was very straightforward with cost and said that they actually didn't need to insert an IV. My friend explained her money issues with him and he was really helpful, so they went with his suggestion for medication and blood-work. We waited awhile and the Doctor came back to let us know that the tests were good and we could go home right away.A really nice tech girl came out and explained our meds to us, she was really helpful. Then she came back a few minutes later with my girlfriends dog, low and behold, he actually looked a lot better then earlier. We paid a different reception girl and she told us if we had any questions, we could always call or come back down in the first 24 hours with no re exam fee. All in all it was a bittersweet experience. The Doctor was really good, and seemed like there was good quality of care there. If it wasn't for the experience with that Sarah girl I would have rated this a 5....but her customer service is terrible, she doesn't explain anything, and she comes off really high strung and rude....and all this just made the experience a lot more stressful and emotional then it needed to be!
