My Yorkie was bit by another dog while camping just over a week ago. It got infected so my husband and I left our trip early and took him in to a vet in Lethbridge. The vet found one bite wound on the side of his neck, cleaned it, and prescribed antibiotics. That wound is doing great now. However, a few days later, there was immense swelling underneath his neck. My dog was not eating due to the swelling right by his throat. I took off work and brought him in again. The vet looked at it, said it was a lot of swelling but was probably just scar tissue, nothing to worry too much about. He then gets me a quote for $400 to run tests because he thinks my dog may have liver problems since he's not eating and his ears appear to be yellow. I refused to have the tests done as I believe he wasn't eating because of the pain. Obviously. The next morning, I took a good look at it myself and noticed a second bite wound. I immediately made another appointment and brought him in for the 3rd time, which they did not charge for. He then tells me that he understood now why my dog wasn't eating, because of the wound under his neck. But still wanted to run the tests. I refused once again. He cleaned it up and gave different antibiotics which I had to pay for. Tells me that if its not better within 4 days the scar tissue will have to be surgicaly removed. There was no change in that time period. So we brought our dog here (trusted with great reviews from people we know) and were told that there was no need for surgery, it would heal within a month, and he needed to be off the antibiotics. She also flushed the wound, and checked his ears and gums for yellowing. Said he didn't have liver problems. He is active, energetic, and even eating by himself now. Yes his neck is still swollen but it doesn't seem to be effecting him at all. Not only did the previous vet miss an obvious bite wound twice, I did not feel that he handled my dog well. Plus he didn't even apologize. He didn't smile, didn't cuddle my dog, or even talk to him. And also very overpriced. We saved ourselves a couple grand just by taking our dog here, where he was treated with love, and also prevented putting him through a lot of unnecessary treatment. Thank you Jennifer so much for your help!Read Less
