The office is always extremely crowded and it is quite stressful in a small space with a bunch of animals. I feel rushed and uncomfortable in the waiting room, where you are usually stuck for 15 to 20 minutes minimum. The veterinarian themselves are good though. Just the efficiency and front desk staff (usually they don't address you at all) leaves something to be desired. Read Less

I've been coming here now for almost 10 years, and everyone at the clinic is incredible. You're always greeted with wonderful front end staff. They have been patient and loving to my Dogs which can be a bit difficult especially when it comes to Ollies nail trims (He is a nightmare) and the staff are so great with him. Dr Lafrance did surgery on my older Girl once she got into and ate a corn cob, and she has been going strong now for two years and continuing. I'm torn between 5 stars and 1. I am going with 1 because they definitely need work but please know that Dr. Leilania at this office is amazing and it's always a very informative and helpful appointment once you make it into the exam room. Which is why I keep going back .I just have to tough out the terrible front end service to get to a vet that cares. The 1 star would go to the reception. I have been here on multiple occasions and the reception has never been welcoming. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt as working in a vet clinic can be stressful and busy but honestly this last time there was no one in the waiting room but me and I think I've given plenty of opportunity for the attitude to improve before this review. When you walk in, you are simply ignored for abnormally long amounts of time. (A simply- Hello! I'll be with you in a minute) is really all it takes to be welcoming. On top of lack of welcome, you get the same treatment after leaving the exam rooms. Everyone just ignores you while you stand there awkwardly waiting to pay your bill. Unsure if you are supposed to mention something so you'll move a little closer to the counter. Everyone will continue to ignore you, and then they'll wander off. Most of the time they seem to actually be working on your paperwork but they don't bother to communicate anything. Communication really is everything. Acknowledging that they notice you are waiting and saying- I am just drawing up the medicine, or I'll be back in a minute with the paperwork etc would go a long ways to make people feel as though their presence isn't just a complete annoyance to the team up front. And smile. I have yet to see a smile at reception- if you hate your job so much then leave. It's the first thing you see when you walk in. It took me a few visits to realize I love the vet but so disliked the reception. I went as far as to visit another vet on my next visit as the reception was such a turn off at this place! Read Less

It took me a while to pay my extremely high vet bill here being a new mother in a single income household but I was paying. My cat was still throwing up when she came home but has been better since moving. It cost 3x as much at this vet to do the same procedure she's had done at other clinics and they ordered me medicine that never came in until she was better (didn't even need it in the first place) and didn't give to me when I went in. I had $70 left on my bill when I was moving to a new city and was supposed to give to a friend to bring in, and now my bill is $140 something and going to collections because I refuse to pay for medicine I never received and never needed anyways. Wild rose clinic is way better and the vet is way nicer. He's offered to wait for me after hours (being a new mother it was hard being places on time lol) so I could pick up my fur baby's food and such and charges way less. I forgot to add that they spayed my cat and she had a near death experience in their care and they cut her nails too far down more than once and made her bleed when putting on gel caps. Read Less

Unfortunately I will not be going back to this vet clinic. I was a little unimpressed with their communication skills. There has been many times when I booked my dog an appointment, showed up and they wrote my appointment wrong on the card they gave me and would have to return back a few days later or reschedule for a different time. But I finally got upset when I was going away to the states and I was bringing my dog with me. And when you are flying, you need a health certificate and a check up. So when I called the fort vet and informed her that I was flying to Arizona in a week and I was going to be gone for 10 days and needed to have my dog in for a check up, she said ok and I brought my dog in for a check up and got the vet to give me his papers. Then when I got home I noticed the paper said "health certificate is only valid for 24 hours" (I went to the vet on Friday and I was leaving to Arizona on Monday.) So I called the vet back and asked them if they made a mistake with the paper and they told me no and they only hand out 24 hour health certificates. (Which is not what I need, I need one that states the day I leave from the day I come home. ) they said they could have me come back on monday before i leave for my flight but coming back i would need to see a vet in arizona. I've travelled before with my dog and this is the first time this has happened. I wish the girl would of informed me on the phone that their health certificates are only 24 hours. Otherwise I wouldn't of gone there and wasted $70 for a check up when my dog was just there a couple of months ago to get neutered. And yes I did ask for a refund but they refused to give me one. I then brought my dog to the vet in St. Albert on the Saturday, they gave me the proper health certificate that I needed, examined my dog and there was no cost. I'm really disappointed that the fort vet could not be more accommodating and have better communication. Read Less

After years of begging and pleading, I am finally the proud owner of a puppy. She may have plucked every decorative flower from my favorite pair of sandals this morning, but I still love her (although I wept for my dear sandals). And I probably could have prepared a little better for her.I did a lot of research about owning a puppy and all of the things you have to do, and knew that I should be picking out a vet well before I brought her home so that I could make sure she was A-OK when I did get her. But, things didn't really go as expected, since I never though that my boyfriend would actually say yes, or that we'd come home with a puppy on a Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning after next to no sleep from the crying and whimpering downstairs, I started calling around to a vet to see when I could get her in to make sure she was in good health. I was able to make an appointment quickly and without hassle, and the receptionist even let me know right away which days I could book the last appointment in the day (as I have to drive back to the Fort from the city during rush hour). She was extremely understanding, and very accommodating. When we did bring Penny into the vet, I was pleasantly surprised. It had been awhile since I'd been in a vet's office, and the one we used to take my family dog to was pretty dreary and definitely full of dander. Instead, we entered the well-lit and brightly colored office and were greeted by a smiling receptionist who weighed our jumpy pup right off the bat while we waited. The vet came out within 3 minutes of us being there, was very friendly and informative, and gave her the pill and shot without her even noticing that something unusual was going on. We were out of the office within 5 minutes, and payment ended up being cheaper than we had budgeted for because her health checkup is included free of charge whenever she has to come in for shots or pills. Awesome! As we were leaving, they made sure to book us in exactly 4 weeks afterwards to ensure the booster will be on time (and not at the behest of their scheduling) and can combine for a checkup on her teeth that are slowly coming in. And never again will I leave anything I love in a place that she will be able to reach and retrieve it from... which will only get more difficult once she reaches her full size (probably 3 times the size she is now).
