This is the most unprofessional clinic in the city of Medicine Hat. The only thing they care about or are motivated by is money. I had several visit with my injured dog and never met the vet once. Its drop off only. They have no professional ethics at all. Very disappointed. It took them over a week to transfer my pets file to another clinic.

There s numerous comments like this and the ladies in the front treat you like shit when u ask about the bill. They are crooks and I have filed a formal complaint, possible civil suit as well.

Misinformation, and misquoted prices are the most common things I'd heard about City Vet, and after dealing with them, you can add misdiagnosis to the list.
We took our dog there after noticing she was in pain, so we brought her here for an emergency visit. After a quick examination, we were told she had a fever and were given antibiotics and sent on our way. The next day after no improvement, we gave her a once over and found she had sores on her back which were open and had a discharge that CVH's vet had not noticed or told us about after their exam of our pup.
We took her to our usual vet who diagnosed her properly, treated her, and immediately told us to discontinue the medication City Veterinary Hospital had prescribed her which was and had been utterly useless to her. She's now much better after our vet determined what was wrong, and so we called CVH to discuss the incorrect diagnosis and why we felt we should not be charged for her examination, which was incorrect, and incomplete, we were treated with indifference.
We weren't asking for anything unreasonable, and we even explained that we knew we would never see a refund for the medication they prescribed as it was essentially used, however their 'Manager of Operations' was unsympathetic that we had to pay for another vet to determine what was wrong with our pup and wasn't even willing to offer even a partial refund for their examination fee to offset the additional cost of getting her treated properly.
If we had not taken her to a different vet, I'm sure they would have charged us more for another visit and tests to determine what they shouldnt have even missed in the first exam. I would most definitely AVOID City Veterinary Hospital.
After this experience, it seems the only animals they care about are the quick bucks they make from people who truly care about their pets.

Now after 13 years of top level professional care, and the most welcoming attitude of any professional business it has been my pleasure to do business with, it is time to say thank you. Our regular vet was booked so we went to City Vet. The receptionist and vet tech were very friendly. The vet on the other hand was awful. We went in for one thing and somehow the vet figured my dog had a bad ear infection in both ears. She took a sample from my dogs ear and said she would call back that afternoon with the results. Finally 4 days later they call and say he needs ear drops right away. I went to my regular vet for a 2nd opinion and the results showed my dog is very healthy with no infection! City Vet charged us over $400 for absolutely no reason! That's criminal! Never go here!

I have been getting "all" vaccines for both dogs each year.I have been paying around 200$/per dog every year to only receive a 1 yr rabies vaccine, when I have been asking for Distemper, Bord, Lepto, and Rabies. not just the one vaccine. I feel like they owe me. Wonder who else they did that too! When I euthanized my last dog. Poddar came in with the bag and said "sorry I didn't know you were still here". I wasn't even in the room for 2mins after my dog passed. Sure cut my last minutes with my poor bubs though. Dr. Poddar should leave Medicine Hat and never practice the art of veterinary medicine.

Avoid this place. Took $450.00 from us for a simple blood sample that was supposed to take 2 weeks to get the results. Its been 2 months and still nothing, every time we phone they continuously tell me they will phone me back and never do. On top of that they had to sedate my animal and keep him there for 6 hours. When we finally could pick him up he was bleeding, injured and just in a very sad state of mind.

I called city vet back and spoke to the owner and he said "if you can't afford to have a dog then don't have a dog" pfft. That's bullshit.. other places charging 300-400 and he's charging 800 for the exact same job... and then he talks to his customer Rude.Never go there again

I've heard mixed things about this clinic (and all clinics). But honestly, I have never had any issues. They treat my cats very well, we have been going there for years now. And I do believe their prices are quite competitive in the rest of the city.
A few years ago I had to put down my 22 year old cat. The staff was so kind. Dr. Poddar is our usual vet, but he was not able to put her down. But he took the time to speak with me after. It meant a lot.

I was a customer there Sept 28, simple stitching needed for a cut on my dog's stomach. $650 !!!!!??? Are you on DRUGS? (Was quoted $220 from another vet 1 day previously). Over-charging.....that is the name of the game at this clinic. I told him straight out that I was NOT the one that is going to pay for HIS Hawaiian Vacation...(Hell...I haven't even been to Hawaii!). Service....(front-line staff...excellent.) Vets (and the one's who make up the quotes...(and let me reiterate.."MADE-UP")...is total BS! After much BS....the price was suddenly $400. I told him straight out that I did NOT fall off the Turnip truck last night. Stress from my dog's injury is what they play on...and they expect you to agree with their quote because of it. 16 stitches would have equalled over $40 a stitch!!! You bet MONEY is their main goal here. The whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, enough so, that I tell 2 friends, and so on. Hopefully others won't fall into this trap. We know you have stress over your dog's condition....but don't let that overcome your common sense. My advice: don't even enter the doors of this place. The additional stress you receive from this place is not worth it. For what it's worth, I won't EVER be going back.

I walked out on them then they call and try to say I owe a checkup fee.. For what I asked cause they told me nothing new just asked all the same questions about the litter I use and the dishes I use, pathetic place put it that way

I was very happy with Dr Poddar he really educated me about how to take good care of my puppy & my puppy...

Our regular vet was booked so we went to City Vet. The receptionist and vet tech were very friendly. The vet on the other hand was awful. We went in for one thing and somehow the vet figured my dog had a bad ear infection in both ears. She took a sample from my dogs ear and said she would call back that afternoon with the results. Finally 4 days later they call and say he needs ear drops right away. I went to my regular vet for a 2nd opinion and the results showed my dog is very healthy with no infection! City Vet charged us over $400 for absolutely no reason! That's criminal! Never go here!

I have been getting "all" vaccines for both dogs each year.I have been paying around 200$/per dog every year to only receive a 1 yr rabies vaccine, when I have been asking for Distemper, Bord, Lepto, and Rabies. not just the one vaccine. I feel like they owe me. Wonder who else they did that too! When I euthanized my last dog. Poddar came in with the bag and said "sorry I didn't know you were still here". I wasn't even in the room for 2mins after my dog passed. Sure cut my last minutes with my poor bubs though. Dr. Poddar should leave Medicine Hat and never practice the art of veterinary medicine.

Avoid this place. Took $450.00 from us for a simple blood sample that was supposed to take 2 weeks to get the results. Its been 2 months and still nothing, every time we phone they continuously tell...
Avoid this place. Took $450.00 from us for a simple blood sample that was supposed to take 2 weeks to get the results. Its been 2 months and still nothing, every time we phone they continuously tell me they will phone me back and never do. On top of that they had to sedate my animal and keep him there for 6 hours. When we finally could pick him up he was bleeding, injured and just in a very sad state of mind.

Called in and got a quote for my dogs surgery for $800, called 5 other vet clinics in Medicine Hat and they all ranged around 300-400. I called city vet back and spoke to the owner and he said "if you can't afford to have a dog then don't have a dog" pfft. That's bullshit.. other places charging 300-400 and he's charging 800 for the exact same job... and then he talks to his customer Rude.Never go there again

I've heard mixed things about this clinic (and all clinics). But honestly, I have never had any issues. They treat my cats very well, we have been going there for years now. And I do believe their prices are quite competitive in the rest of the city.
A few years ago I had to put down my 22 year old cat. The staff was so kind. Dr. Poddar is our usual vet, but he was not able to put her down. But he took the time to speak with me after. It meant a lot.

I was a customer there Sept 28, simple stitching needed for a cut on my dog's stomach. $650 !!!!!??? Are you on DRUGS? (Was quoted $220 from another vet 1 day previously). Over-charging.....that is the name of the game at this clinic. I told him straight out that I was NOT the one that is going to pay for HIS Hawaiian Vacation...(Hell...I haven't even been to Hawaii!). Service....(front-line staff...excellent.) Vets (and the one's who make up the quotes...(and let me reiterate.."MADE-UP")...is total BS! After much BS....the price was suddenly $400. I told him straight out that I did NOT fall off the Turnip truck last night. Stress from my dog's injury is what they play on...and they expect you to agree with their quote because of it. 16 stitches would have equalled over $40 a stitch!!! You bet MONEY is their main goal here. The whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, enough so, that I tell 2 friends, and so on. Hopefully others won't fall into this trap. We know you have stress over your dog's condition....but don't let that overcome your common sense. My advice: don't even enter the doors of this place. The additional stress you receive from this place is not worth it. For what it's worth, I won't EVER be going back.

I walked out on them then they call and try to say I owe a checkup fee.. For what I asked cause they told me nothing new just asked all the same questions about the litter I use and the dishes I use, pathetic place put it that way
