RESPOCNE TO COMPLAINT ABOUT DOGS DRUG PRICES. We have been driving from Calgary to Sundre to Pioneer vet. for more than 20 years. obviously, that is through many dogs lives, and many gas price increases. We have not a 160 pound, 10 year old Newfoundland cross dog.He has allergies and has required Apoquel medication for the majority of his life. We are on a very fixed income. When we started Apouel, it was $130.00 for 100 tablets. He needs 2 per day. I freaked out, and asked why it was so expensive. I was shown the pharmacy companies invoice. Guess what! They only charged 10% above their billed price. 8 years later, it cost us $276.00 for the same dose 100 tablets. Again, I had to ask why and was told that even the pharmaceutical companies keep raising their prices! The Vets are still charging $58.00 for their expertise at the visit. (and they don't set a time limit!) In Calgary at and VCA clinic, my dogs Apoquel os $760.00!! And a visit is $120.00!! These people have never charh=ged me questionable fee for care, and even give me a 'frequent visitor seniors discount' on drugs. Obviously, I respect and love Sundre Pioneer vets. The staff are very personable and helpful, and the care the vets provide is superlative. I dare anybody who has second thoughts about their pricing to visit a vet in Calgary!! You'll be spending the money on gas and happily driving to this hospital where you and your pet are respected and treated with the true love .understanding and compassion you deserve. Looking forward to their new office. Read Less

Out camping. My neutered dog mounted a female in heat. And he got a raging boner. With no outlet, the raging boner lasted for hours. Called the veterinarian to find out what we should do. It didn't work. So we drive in and showed up with no appointment to help my dog with his raging boner. In less than an hour they had us in, James Bond sedated (the name of the rescue dog. Now known as James Boner) and between the vet and I and 4 clamps, his Viagra nightmare was contained. I love the staff her and really appreciate everything they did. Always pleased with the care and services provided by this clinic. The Vets here go above and beyond when our pets are in need of emergency care. Two years ago we had to make a call early on a Sunday morning as our Boxer had a twisted gut. The Vet met us within an hour, performed surgery and Macon received the best of care. Unfortunately Macon did not survive but every effort was made to comfort him in his final hours. Regular care notices and visits are always a pleasant experience for our pets and us. Options are given and questions are answered with confidence which is reassuring. Many clinics in larger centres are mere money ventures and pet owners are left financially compromised and their beloved pets do not survive. I am committed to my pets and their welfare hoping they have the best possible lives while in my care. Pioneer Veterinary Clinic is a team of professionals which ensure that I am informed on the latest health and welfare care of my dear and beloved pets. Read Less
