First the positive, I gave one star for the affordable pricing and close location. The thing with Dr Hans, who owns this practice is he often recommends things your pet doesn't really need. Pushes for more so you end up paying more than quoted. So after just 4 visits in a short time frame I paid over $1000 easy. I wasn't too happy about it since the problem was on going and he kept insisting it was fleas when both cats were treated with Advantage II and we hadn't seen any sign of fleas, no fleas, no dirt. Not one flea. Second he doesn't really listen because he speaks as someone who knows it all, has seen it all and because of this can be patronizing and misses vital things. He kept doing the same treatment over and over (Advantage II wanting to double dose him in one month which I had negative feelings about, so instead they finally listened as I suspected more than fleas, I suggested mites). So in one month he was given Revolution on top of the Advantage II. Advantage II alone was not working for my cat and it got to the point where my cat lost around 5 pounds in 3 months, now he weighs next to nothing. Blood work was all good, thyroid good so it seemed odd but then I seen a parasite in his eye which was no doubt what it was. Freaked me out! I was told it never happened and he tried to make it seem as if either I was crazy or making it up.Yet when I had brought him in, the vet assistant also seen some worms in his left eye (completely different from what kind of worm I seen in his right). That's when I too seen the creamier coloured ones in his left eye! SO I was really disappointed for my cat who was suffering all this time, thousands of dollars later. To which the vet said, he's fine a if no big deal. Saying he's an older cat. Really!!! Older cats don't lose that much weight in that short of time, I know I've had this breed of cat before and never experienced these issues with him in older age. The worm I seen looked like a round worm which I discovered is very common in cats. Even though they were saying this doesn't happen here and asking me if I'd been to any tropical country. Apparently it is common worldwide (after doing research myself). What I think happened was he wasn't dewormed when I expressed concerns and I think he should have been. This is usually standard when the vet thinks fleas, also for kittens and older cats worms can be more of a problem. So these parasite progressed because as soon as I argued to give him Revolution instead of repeating the Advantage II, he started to show signs of improvement (fur started to look a bit better) also not losing more weight. Though he was still having issues with itching, severe discomfort, his behaviour was still at times moody and aggressive as he appeared constantly uncomfortable, shaking his head (though no sign of ear mites). The other vet there said roundworm can be missed in one analysis of the poop sample, but Dr Hans was like it's impossible since the didn't find any in the sample they went through. Telling me what I seen was a shadow but like I said both me and the vet assistant there seen the worms. They were not shadows, it was pretty obvious and it took the other vet 10 min to even see what we both easily had seen which concerned me. It's insulting to someone's intelligence when someone tells you what you seen was a shadow. The concept of a shadow doesn't even make sense to what I seen. Moving around in his eye, coiled in a figure 8 position. So I was pissed! The previous worm I had seen moving around in his right eye which is what made m bring him in, had changed 3 locations in his eye, moving very slowly till 15 min with the light left on it moved out of sight from his eye. This all while my cat was sitting still. I was unable to get a photo of it because I don't have a proper camera currently and no phone (lost). So bad timing. So I looked up a match of the worm online, the only one I could find that looked like what I had seen, and he insisted it was impossible. Meanwhile my cat has all the symptoms of the common parasite infection. You just don't think your own vet is going to mock you, smile and not believe you. Made me think something is wrong with him. My cat also hates him which is also concerning. I never seen my cat behave like that with any vet before. Dr Hans was like he's moody isn't he, I said I never seen him like this before. So I didn't like how he handled that, my cat could have died being he is 13 yrs old. I'm an educated person who's had cats since I was a kid and I never seen anything like this. My cats are indoors too but I know what I seen and the vet assistant seen it too. So we can't both be seeing 'shadows'. The whole experience has been a nightmare and Dr Hans acts like everything is normal including his severe weight loss. Something is off about this whole thing. He even applied Profender by dumping it on his long hair and not directly to the skin, inappropriate application for a topical. Read Less
