My family has been taking our cats here for about a decade. Everyone is always caring, compassionate, and good with handling our pets! They will do whatever they can to accommodate us & our pets. Everyone is a pleasure to deal with. They really go above and beyond. The doctors are very thorough, and explain everything in detail. They make sure we understand what's going on, clarifying if we are unsure of anything, and always ask if we have questions or concerns.I love that they encourage pet parents to be informed. For example, during vaccinations, our doctor explained that she was using a topical solution rather than injection for one, because of something called feline injection site sarcoma. She explained what it was, and how it was rare, but she would rather minimize that risk. That's another thing-they're very careful with treatment! They minimize risks and stresses to your pet as much as possible. I think pet parents are generally unaware, but stress is extremely important to manage! It's not just about comfort, it can impede recovery. They also get to know their patients' personalities. Last appointment, another patient of theirs came in when we were leaving. The newcomer was a dog who they knew didn't like cats, so they had us stay in the exam room while they quickly ushered the dog to the back. Our cat has a nervous disposition. He was spooked just by the barking through the walls, so this was very helpful and thoughtful of Dr. Collett & staff!Despite his nerves, he quickly became friendly and affectionate with those at NBPH. Even when first coming here, he only moved cautiously and was a little sweaty. He must really find them trustworthy now :) In contrast, he was noticeably scared at this next place I'll talk about. He even tried to jump off the table and hide behind me when the doctor came in, and this was his 2nd time seeing them. He was stress shedding all over me during our wait to be seen.I came to truly appreciate NBPH after an emergency stay with another clinic. Our cat was not eating or drinking. He was very dehydrated when we brought him in. They insisted keeping him in their kennels day & night, even after he was rehydrated. They were resistant to discharge him when asked, because he still wasn't eating unless force fed. We also had to cancel an ultrasound.Once home, we had to keep him from eating too much at once... You know, away from an unfamiliar kennel, where the nonstop barking was heard all the way in the waiting room. He was also acting strangely. You see, they gave my cat multiple medicines, and he was having side effects. Anyone who's had to go on medication themselves, and went through multiple to find the right one for them, know how careful they have to be about drug interactions and side effects. Having gone through this, I'm fastidious in looking up medicines now. Two of four medications they administered are quite new in veterinary use; interactions with other drugs and conditions are unknown, with serious possible side effects. Several well known, safer alternatives are available. At NBPH, Dr. Collett noticed my cat was stressed from his stay, comforted him while he was being examined, and was thorough while quick with what was needed, and didn't do anything unnecessary (like an ultrasound...). He got to go home right away, at ease, along with a single medicine we were shown how best to administer. It has mild possible side effects, which we were told to watch for, and to call them right away if shown. It's not only safe, but widely used for what they suspect my cat has.Our other cat needed subcutaneous injections daily for a while. They worked with our schedule and gave her the fluids as fast as possible, using two vet techs (saving both our time, and our cat from undue stress). They only charged modest fees, and let us know that if our cat needed this long term, we could be trained and supplied to do it at home instead. What a difference! On the client side, they're sensitive to budgetary concerns. Doctors tailor recommendations (like dietary plans) around what we can afford. At the same time, they don't hesitate to suggest and explain costlier procedures highly important to your pet's health and quality of life. For those, they'll discuss things like financing. They're transparent about what costs are involved, and why they total what they do.On the other hand, the other clinic had terrible communication. I had to ask all the questions, and basically received yes/no answers. I only knew about the medications because I requested their patient chart for my cat.Back to NBPH, more than medical procedures, they'll also recommend things we can do for our pets at home and the most economical way to do them. Often, these are based on their own experiences!I can't recommend NBPH enough. I hope my thorough review (kudos for reading it all!) shows you just why :) Read Less
