My friend's dog broke a leg on a long weekend. We called  a few clinics and were even denied by another clinic as we were not a client. Thankfully this place was able to do an emergency appointment the same day. While they were unable to accommodate a surgery they did stabilize, diagnosis, and provide pain management till surgery could be arranged at another clinic. It being a long weekend the cost was way more then we anticipated, but we were extremely grateful for the help they provided. We found another clinic for the surgery. They sent the x-rays and called the other clinic to confirm how they preferred the leg to be dressed. The staff were wonderful. Read Less

I had to bring my little Chihuahua Gidget in for an emergency visit and they got her in right away even though they were quite busy. Another unscheduled visit a couple of days later due to a worsening condition, same thing. Saw her right away and were very caring and staightforward about her treatment and prognosis. No sugar coating but in a thoughtful manner. Unfortunately she couldn't be saved and when I had to call them the third time early in the morning they once again got her in right away and let me hold her while she went to sleep for the last time. Every time I was there I felt like these people really cared about my little dog and wanted her to get better, but they were also very honest about there being a point at which treatment should be stopped and that was important because it didn't make me feel like I was giving up on her when I knew it was over. Anyway I got a card from them a while ago but didn't open it until today and it was very sweet, it had a little seed filled paper to plant and grow some forget me nots. I would definitely recommend this vet. Read Less

This was my 2nd visit in the last five years to The Campbell River Veterinary Hospital to obtain a health certificate for my yellow Lab  Bailer to return to the US.  After a visual exam Dr. Woodward felt that Bailer may have had a thyroid deficiency and should be tested when we got home.  He has now  been tested in California and he definitely had deficiency.  He is now on medication.  Dr. Woodward was able to diagnose this problem through symptoms alone.  Our vet in California, when confronted with the same issues over the last six months did not spot the problem or order the test.  Dr. Woodward is tops in my book! We're new to Campbell River and had a scare one evening with my 8 year old shih tzu - called the emergency after hours line and spoke to Dr. Woodward who met me at the clinic. He was great with my dog, seemed to really care and took the time to explain things in terms I could understand to me as he examined her. I went back for x-rays during regular clinic hours, and everyone in the clinic was so friendly and helpful. Dr. Woodward took the time to go through all the x-ray results right away, answered all my questions and again, just really showed he cares about the animals. Thanks so much to everyone for making a scary experience much less stressful! Read Less
