I have only wonderful things to say about this vet and animal hospital. Thorough compassionate and reassuring. Will NEVER use this clinic again. I am absolutely disgusted with the behaviour of Dr. Pawel Biernacki. My poor cat was listless and not eating and having trouble standing. I made an appointment in the evening as this was the only time i could get a sitter for my baby girl. Dr. Pawel Biernacki took my cat out of the carrier and dropped her on the floor from counter height! Wonderful place. I've been taking my pets here with my family since I was a kid. Dr. Biernaki is fantastic, he's very thorough, explains everything  and always give options on how to proceed. He's so compassionate and always calls to check on my dog after we've had any procedures done. The front desk staff are also absolutely fantastic! They answer all my questions and are just super reassuring when I'm a worried pet-mama! They always make me feel super comfortable leaving my boy with them and are always welcoming when I call to check in and ask a million questions. If I could give 10 stars I totally would! Read Less

I took my rabbit here when my regular vet was closed for the day as he wasn't feeling well. For a vet that claims to be familiar with treating rabbits he really didn't see the urgency of my rabbit's medical condition as he stopped eating and pooping which is seen as critical in rabbits. Instead of starting some sort of treatment he kept insisting that we wait another day to see if the blockage he had passes naturally. Against my better judgement I listened and the vet's office was suppose to call me the next day to follow up. I have been bringing my fur babies here for 12+ years. The staff and Dr B have seen us through a lot and certainly there will be more to come. I trust his opinion and his judgement but if I brought an issue to him or said I wanted to treat a different way or at a different vet, he has supported me. If I call and say it's urgent I get in, the girls squeeze me in asap. I have lived in Vancouver for the last 10 years and except for cancer treatments for one dog, which North Road does not do, I would not go anywhere else. And we are in frequently. Read Less

We called in on a Friday around 3:23 pm asking to see a Dr as our dog was having problems breathing or so we thought, they said Dr is on lunch but come on in at 4:00pm. We went in and got served right away. The Dr was very sincere and genuine and saw the problem right away. Our dog had caught the flu somehow and the sounds we thoughy he was making was actually reverse sneezing. He told us to keep him away from other dogs and gve us medication. Very nice and honest Dr!! I have been taking my dog to this clinic for 2 years. At first it was because the location is close to where I lived. Now that I have moved away, but I still take my dog to this clinic. The staff and doctors are very helpful and kind. Unlike my experience at other clinics, I have never been overcharged or force to pay for unnecessary meds/vaccines at this animal hospital.  If this is your first time taking your pet to a vet, you may feel this clinic is pricey, but trust me, after you visit any other animal clinic you will find out their prices are actually pretty fair. The staff are good, so we stayed with North Road even though we didn't really connect or feel supported by Dr. Biernacki. Big mistake. I believe the decisions made were more for the benefit of his business and not for our pet. I do not recommend at all. Read Less

i have been taking my dog to this clinic for the past five years mostly because it was more convenient. my dog gets car sick and it was harder to travel and take him to another clinic. after moving a couple of times i still kept taking my dog to this clinic and this doctor because i thought they cared and understood what my dog has. my dog has skin allergy to pretty much every single type of grass or tree out there. so it has been the same battle for he past 5 years. anti bacterial ointment and antibacterial injection couple times a year. however with his new staff it has become a very unpleasant visit every time. the receptionist stephanie is rude and needs to quit. the old receptionist nichole was such a joy to talk to and cared. stephanie on the other hand gives you this attitude like she owns the clinic. What she needs to understand if people like me with dogs that have issues don't come in to the store she won't have a job and she won't be able to pay for those fake nails of hers. the doctor just wants to charge you for extra things that are not necessary. he doesn't want to safe you money. he just wants to get you to go for visitation every couple of months if he could. i would not recommend this store. do yourself a favour and save your money instead of spending it on stupid visitations that don't take 4 minutes and costs you 60 dollars. even his previous staff complain about him. don't go to this clinic. if the doctor wants to keep his patients he needs to stop tricking people on wasting their money and get a new receptionist.Read Less

They are a great place to go to my small little dog got bitten or stung by something and they told me to take her in right away since her eye was swollen like a balloon.  I took her in and the nurse or front desk lady was like wow she's in alot of pain .I had a financial situation and they help me alot .. great place and very understanding :) Read Less

We had made an appointment to put down our beloved family dog 3 weeks ahead. Our dog is 13 years old, blind, deaf,  has a lot of trouble walking , and no longer has the ability to control his bowel movements. When we arrived, the front staff checked us in and asked us to wait aside. But when it was time to see the vet, he was visibly upset and try to confront us why we haven't visited him in 8 years. The fact is our dog has been healthy, getting old is part of life, and when the quality of life diminishes, we want to do the right thing by letting him go. The vet didn't even go near our dog to do any checkups. My question is if you weren't going to go thru with the purpose of us making the appointment , shouldn't someone give us a call and let us know? We love our dog and we have owned two other dogs in the past that lived up to 14&15. We would not want to put down our pet unless we thought it was the right decision. Instead we spent a whole week saying our goodbyes and have to encounter a vet with poor attitude and total lack of compassion.
