We are a friendly, full service small animal clinic, committed to providing the best care possible for your four-legged family members. We are proud to offer our clients:
Preventive medicine and wellness care including physical exams, vaccinations, de-wormers, flea and tick prevention.
Nutritional counseling and prescription diets/supplements.
Dental care: our full compliment of dental equipment, including an ultrasonic scaler, allows us to provide quality dental care for your pet.
Comprehensive on-site diagnostic services, with an Idexx Laboratory System, Digital Radiography, Endoscopy, Ultrasonography and Cardiopet.
Surgery: we routinely offer spays, neuters, caesarian sections, orthopedics, bladder stone removals, foreign body removals, and exploratory surgeries.
Emergency care: Call 250-338-7721. If you call when the clinic is closed, your call will be forwarded to an after-hours veterinarian from our call group who will assist you and answer questions.

We were on our vacation when our dog jumped out of the car and ripped her dewclaw nail off. Luckily we were 5 minutes away from Courtenay vet, and they managed to get us in right away to help out our pup. They were all so incredibly nice and caring, and set us up so we were able to continue on our vacation! Thank you to Dr Ruiz and the whole Saturday team! Ava is happy to be on her way again!

I have had the great fortune to have two family pets cared for by this clinic over the years. Not only is the day to day service caring, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable the after hours emergency care goes above and beyond. Because my crazy active little dog loves crashing through the brush we have had a number of visits to the Vets. I place tremendous trust in the staff of Courtenay Veterinary Clinic as they treat my dog like one of their own...in fact I even feel like one of the family...no question is too small, extra care and attention is paid to my dog after surgeries and she is well loved. I would strongly recommend their service to anyone. They also do great things to support our local community like cupcake sales for the SPCA ...such big caring hearts.

We had a last minute emergency with out pup last night and I could not be happier about our experience at Courtenay Veterinary Clinic! They met us there within 15 minutes and had our dog fixed up and on her way home within an hour, both us and her stress free. I would recommend their services to anyone. A huge thank you to the two wonderful women that saved the day, we will be back as regular patients for sure!

We now take both our dogs here and all the staff we've dealt with are so kind and caring! Had our puppy neutered and they called a couple of times to check on him afterwards. A few months later, the very day we were leaving for a camping vacation out in the bush, we noticed our one dog had a bad scratch on her eye that needed attention before we left. I called the clinic and they said "how fast can you get here?" We got there in 10 minutes, they saw us after only a few minutes wait and set us up with medications to use while were were away. So thankful for such quick efficient service when in dire straights.
PS: I think the person who left a 1star review was being very unfair. Sounds to me like they showed up unannounced wanting something for nothing and are trying to make the vet sound bad... simply not fair.

Went in there today with a sick dog and a new born baby, only to be turned away because i didn't have 86 dollars to have a vet look at them and apparently they were fully booked and to get a vet to even give me advice I would have to pay an additional 60 dollars for an emergency. My belief is that veterinarians take up their job because of their love for animals but all I saw at this place was a money grab a young family sent away because they couldn't pay, by some very rude receptionist
From what I experienced i would not bring my loved animals to people who don't seem to care about their well being
only their payroll

I first started taking my pets to the Courtenay Veterinary Clinic after moving here in the late 1980s. They have always provided excellent care, good advice and a sympathetic ear. I moved away in 2005, returning in 2011 and I am once again taking my pets there. Nothing has changed except for a few new faces. The care is still top-notch.
