Excellent, warm hearted, helpful front desk assistants. Plus it is staffed with equally as nice, dedicated & insightful Veterinarians. Everyone on staff here, do their best to keep the patients calm, happy, with a hopefully healthy outcomes. The folks here are also do are gentle & sympathetic with the two animals.
This clinic has a spacious, comfortable, rather luxurious front waiting room. I find it to be a relaxing atmosphere, which may help our furry friends feel more at ease in what can be a stressful situation for them.
The clinic is well stocked with veterinary supplies. But...the best is that IF the situation requires creative financing, they can be negotiable on payments. They do not turn away clientele that are in need.
My favorite part of the visits is the fish tank, beautiful aquarium with some unique fish. One in particular was a fish that sadly, recently passed away - this particularly cute fish seemed as interested in the clientele as they were in the fish. Fortunately they have replaced it with a pretty golden fish that seems to have a similar character to it's predecessor.

However, thanks to their fantastic and friendly staff, great atmosphere, and immediately obvious ability to help your pet, I am now completely at ease. We have been customers with Van Isle Vet clinic since we moved out to the island 2 1/2 years ago and brought all of our three dogs to them. We thought they were a great vet to have right up until today, when we were held up in a traffic accident and arrived 10 minutes late to our appointment for our puppy to have her last set of vaccinations. Even though we’ve always have had to wait 20 to 30 min to be seen by the vets in the past, because we were 10 minutes late, we were turned away and made to book another appointment. We were extremely disappointed as we’ve been loyal customers from the beginning. However, after today, that’s all changed and we were able to have our little puppy be seen by a different veterinary practice.

It us unfortunate that this is the only 24 vet in the area. I took my beloved kitty there to see an emergency vet as he had a giant painfull lump appear on the base of his tail. Without even looking at him the woman at the frint desk told me it wasn't an emergency and that no one could see him unless I made an appointment for the following day. Luckily I found another place to help him that actually looked at him and gave him the care he beeded. Perhaps hiring staff that actually look at the animal before turning then away might be helpful. I'll never go back here. Terrible service and unhelpful staff. I'm sticking with my regular vet Comox Valley aninal Hospital. Go there instead!

I had phoned in regards to bringing my cat in for throwing up blood. Was left on hold for ten minutes only to have some miscommunication on the phone on when to come by as there were no appointments available. After It was more clearly stated to come by that evening, but I would have to be prepared to wait around for who knew how long, I said ok ill bring him in. Being a concerned pet owner I decided I'd phone another vet just to see if I could get him in sooner as he was clearly distressed and so was I, had shamrock vet offer to get him in as soon as I could arrive. Clearly that is the choice any responsible pet owner would take as I wouldn't have to distress him more with waiting around. I loaded him up and off we went. Tried phoning van isle to explain the situation only to be placed on hold again, not wanting to miss the call regarding my cats blood results which were already done I decided I'd try later. Shortly after this a employee from van isle called asking about Odin, I explained I tried calling because I had gotten him in right away to another vet. No response except hearing said employee complaining to another employee of what I had done! "apparently he went to another place" seriously as a vet the animals care should come first! I do not need to hear your employees bad mouthing myself in an already stressful situation. It was not after hours and I had tried calling to inform of the "happy" outcome of my sick cat...I will never be back or recommend this business with employees like that!

On November 14th my kitten had what appeared to be a punctured eyeball (swollen, watery discharge, iris rolled back into head). I had no idea what had happened to her so I immediately called you guys....
On November 14th my kitten had what appeared to be a punctured eyeball (swollen, watery discharge, iris rolled back into head). I had no idea what had happened to her so I immediately called you guys. It was after 7pm, and although you were still open I was told the office would be soon closing. I explained that we were coming over from Denman island, and would arrive just after 9pm. It was explained to me that I would be charged with an emergency fee and that a vet would ether still be there or they'd send someone over for the time of our arrival. I asked if I should call when I got there but was told that I didn't need to. My boyfriend and I arrived with our kitty promptly when we said we would. The only person we could see was a woman vacuuming. The front door was locked so we stood there for about 10 minutes trying to get her attention (I also tried calling the emergency number again multiple times but got nothing). Finally the lady saw us and came to the door. She told us that she is just part of the cleaning crew but that we are supposed to go to the back entrance for emergency visits (you guys knew I hadn't gone to you before but gave me no information about where to go when we got there). Once at the back entrance we knocked repeatedly but no one answered. Upon testing the door we found it unlocked so we went inside only to find the same cleaning lady along with another like her. After a few minutes of standing there my boyfriend went back outside and I asked the cleaning lady if I could sit somewhere as I am disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis. So I sat down and after waiting another 10 minutes I asked her if there's another vet we could go to that does emergency visits. She immediately told me no and that Van Isle vets are the only ones that do emergency calls. After waiting another 15 minutes my boyfriend came back in to tell me he'd found another vet that does in fact do emergency calls so we thanked the (less than honest) cleaning lady and quickly headed off to a vet that actually showed up to treat my injured kitten.

We have been dealing with Van Isle Vet for over 13 years. The facility is amazing and they are open many nights until 8 pm, which is great for setting up appointments after work. Our latest visit was with Lauren Bessey. She was very thorough with her complimentary dental check and explained the costs in detail before we proceeded with the cleaning and extractions. The clinic called the next day to follow up and ensure our sweet little dog was doing fine. Dr Bessey certainly has a great passion for her work and is extremely knowledgeable. We highly recommend the clinic as the front line staff are caring and friendly.

Took our 15year old poodle here for a second opinion after a another vet in the area spent 2 months trying to fix his cronic cough to the cost of $800 and no results. Dr. Yvette MacLean properly diagnosed him in 30 mins as congestive heart failure and gave him the proper meds to treat it. His cough went away but unfortunately his other organs gave out and we had to put him to sleep which they handled extremely well in a nice living room setting not in an exam room. If we only went here first he might have pulled through. I highly recommend this clinic.

Far and away the nicest vet I've ever been to. Supernaturally friendly staff. Lovely grounds, with manicured landscaping. As elegant as a vet's office gets, like a fine hotel in the lobby area. Took great care of the dog, who had been attacked by jellyfish, or hornets, or rabid stinging nettles.... but we/they still don't know for sure what it was, which was slightly disappointing.Price is what you'd expect for top-notch vet-ness. Not cheap, not exorbitant.If ever Rover has an issue again while we're in BC, we'll go there for sure.

However, thanks to their fantastic and friendly staff, great atmosphere, and immediately obvious ability to help your pet, I am now completely at ease. Over the past five years Van Isle has earned both my dogs and my complete trust.

We have been customers with Van Isle Vet clinic since we moved out to the island 2 1/2 years ago and brought all of our three dogs to them. We thought they were a great vet to have right up until today, when we were held up in a traffic accident and arrived 10 minutes late to our appointment for our puppy to have her last set of vaccinations. Even though we’ve always have had to wait 20 to 30 min to be seen by the vets in the past, because we were 10 minutes late, we were turned away and made to book another appointment. We were extremely disappointed as we’ve been loyal customers from the beginning. However, after today, that’s all changed and we were able to have our little puppy be seen by a different veterinary practice.

It us unfortunate that this is the only 24 vet in the area. I took my beloved kitty there to see an emergency vet as he had a giant painfull lump appear on the base of his tail. Without even looking at him the woman at the frint desk told me it wasn't an emergency and that no one could see him unless I made an appointment for the following day. Luckily I found another place to help him that actually looked at him and gave him the care he beeded. Perhaps hiring staff that actually look at the animal before turning then away might be helpful. I'll never go back here. Terrible service and unhelpful staff. I'm sticking with my regular vet Comox Valley aninal Hospital. Go there instead!

I had phoned in regards to bringing my cat in for throwing up blood. Was left on hold for ten minutes only to have some miscommunication on the phone on when to come by as there were no appointments available. After It was more clearly stated to come by that evening, but I would have to be prepared to wait around for who knew how long, I said ok ill bring him in. Being a concerned pet owner I decided I'd phone another vet just to see if I could get him in sooner as he was clearly distressed and so was I, had shamrock vet offer to get him in as soon as I could arrive. Clearly that is the choice any responsible pet owner would take as I wouldn't have to distress him more with waiting around. I loaded him up and off we went. Tried phoning van isle to explain the situation only to be placed on hold again, not wanting to miss the call regarding my cats blood results which were already done I decided I'd try later. Shortly after this a employee from van isle called asking about Odin, I explained I tried calling because I had gotten him in right away to another vet. No response except hearing said employee complaining to another employee of what I had done! "apparently he went to another place" seriously as a vet the animals care should come first! I do not need to hear your employees bad mouthing myself in an already stressful situation. It was not after hours and I had tried calling to inform of the "happy" outcome of my sick cat...I will never be back or recommend this business with employees like that!

On November 14th my kitten had what appeared to be a punctured eyeball (swollen, watery discharge, iris rolled back into head). I had no idea what had happened to her so I immediately called you guys. It was after 7pm, and although you were still open I was told the office would be soon closing. I explained that we were coming over from Denman island, and would arrive just after 9pm. It was explained to me that I would be charged with an emergency fee and that a vet would ether still be there or they'd send someone over for the time of our arrival. I asked if I should call when I got there but was told that I didn't need to. My boyfriend and I arrived with our kitty promptly when we said we would. The only person we could see was a woman vacuuming. The front door was locked so we stood there for about 10 minutes trying to get her attention (I also tried calling the emergency number again multiple times but got nothing). Finally the lady saw us and came to the door. She told us that she is just part of the cleaning crew but that we are supposed to go to the back entrance for emergency visits (you guys knew I hadn't gone to you before but gave me no information about where to go when we got there). Once at the back entrance we knocked repeatedly but no one answered. Upon testing the door we found it unlocked so we went inside only to find the same cleaning lady along with another like her. After a few minutes of standing there my boyfriend went back outside and I asked the cleaning lady if I could sit somewhere as I am disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis. So I sat down and after waiting another 10 minutes I asked her if there's another vet we could go to that does emergency visits. She immediately told me no and that Van Isle vets are the only ones that do emergency calls. After waiting another 15 minutes my boyfriend came back in to tell me he'd found another vet that does in fact do emergency calls so we thanked the (less than honest) cleaning lady and quickly headed off to a vet that actually showed up to treat my injured kitten.

We have been dealing with Van Isle Vet for over 13 years. The facility is amazing and they are open many nights until 8 pm, which is great for setting up appointments after work. Our latest visit was with Lauren Bessey. She was very thorough with her complimentary dental check and explained the costs in detail before we proceeded with the cleaning and extractions. The clinic called the next day to follow up and ensure our sweet little dog was doing fine. Dr Bessey certainly has a great passion for her work and is extremely knowledgeable. We highly recommend the clinic as the front line staff are caring and friendly.

Took our 15year old poodle here for a second opinion after a another vet in the area spent 2 months trying to fix his cronic cough to the cost of $800 and no results. Dr. Yvette MacLean properly diagnosed him in 30 mins as congestive heart failure and gave him the proper meds to treat it. His cough went away but unfortunately his other organs gave out and we had to put him to sleep which they handled extremely well in a nice living room setting not in an exam room. If we only went here first he might have pulled through. I highly recommend this clinic.

Far and away the nicest vet I've ever been to. Supernaturally friendly staff. Lovely grounds, with manicured landscaping. As elegant as a vet's office gets, like a fine hotel in the lobby area. Took great care of the dog, who had been attacked by jellyfish, or hornets, or rabid stinging nettles.... but we/they still don't know for sure what it was, which was slightly disappointing.Price is what you'd expect for top-notch vet-ness. Not cheap, not exorbitant.If ever Rover has an issue again while we're in BC, we'll go there for sure.
