EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.....I brought Callie in because she was throwing up pretty consistently. I told the vet I was feeding her kibble and tuna. I was not aware but as a vet she should have been, CANNED TUNA IS VERY BAD FOR CATS and the vet missed the obvious. She said there were several things it could be as Callie was 12 years old and ordered blood tests for her. I went home and started looking for information as I began to wonder if human food which would contain more salt than pet food could be the culprit. I found an answer on the internet very quickly.....listed under foods your cat should never eat is canned tuna .....Some tuna now and then probably won't hurt. But a steady diet of tuna prepared for humans can lead to malnutrition because it won't have all the nutrients a cat needs. And, too much tuna can cause mercury poisoning. When I found this I stopped the tuna and Callie stopped throwing up. I would expect a trained vet would be very aware of this. I called the vet and told her the problem was the tuna....she said that she should have asked more questions and should have determined how much of it Callie was eating....she said "she learned something from this". BUT I am still out nearly $400....$256 of it for tests that were not necessary. Callie was found to have borderline levels for the beginnings of kidney problems BUT this is not what was making her throw up. Nice to know but not the problem. What would this vet have done when Callie continued to throw up....order more tests? I asked to have the cost of the testing credited back and was refused. I have always had very good service here before. Dr. McKelvey is wonderful, she saved my other cats life and I am most thankful for her and her skills. Everyone at the clinic is friendly and supportive but EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES....INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL, and when they do they need to take responsibility and make it right, that is the professional thing to do. Dr. Gummeson phoned and tried to justify the testing and supported the refusal to refund the cost of the testing....and actually told me lots of vets recommend tuna for cats (that comment shocked me). The bottom line is the vet missed a very simply diagnosis. I should have been told I was feeding her something that was not good for her and take her home and eliminate it from her diet then if the vomiting continued we should do tests. NOW I HAVE PAID $400 FOR NOTHING, (THE VET NEVER DID FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS I DID) AND NO ONE IS WILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBIBLITY FOR IT. MOST DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BUSINESS AND THE REFUSAL TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR UNNECESSARY TESTING. MOST BUSINESSES WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A MISTAKE BUT APPARENTLY THAT IS NOT THE PHILOSOPHY OF DR. GUMMESON. Read Less

I'm very grateful for the wonderful care my dog, Atticus, receives at Aberdeen vet. All the staff are wonderful and each time I leave I feel confident we received the best care. I recently had some concerns about my dog and Dr. Gummeson went above and beyond to make sure he was alright. He answered all my questions, addressed my concerns and overall eased my stress. I would recommend this clinic to everyone! Thank you! Read Less

I am so happy I switched to this Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Diane McKelvey and the wonderful staff have consistently made my geriatric kitty and I feel cared for and comfortable at every visit. My 16 year old kitty had a chronic wound that had us both at the end of our rope after numerous failed treatments at another vet. The kind care and attention given to us from the lovely staff at Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital have us both healed and happy. My heart is full, Bebes' is too. Thank you so much!!!! Read Less

One of my cats needed to see a vet and my Mom suggested Dr. McKelvey. I phoned to make an appointment but the Dr. was not in that day because she was teaching at the school. I was going to see the other Dr. because I really needed to see a vet. My cat was acting strange the night before (we found out it was a stroke). Dr. McKelvey happened to stop by the clinic before school and the vet assistant let her know about my cat's situation. Dr. McKelvey actually called me back to discuss our situation. Thank you Lyle for letting her know and thank you Dr. McKelvey for taking the time to call me and for your caring. At the appointment, Dr. McKelvey asked me to email her today to let her know how my cat is doing. Above and beyond for sure! Read Less
