If you own a cat, or cats, this vet clinic is the ONLY one that you should ever think about going if you live in Kamloops, heck even if you have to drive a little from out of town to get here, its well worth the trip. I have been a cat owner for almost 20 years and I have been to countless vets during those years, some of those experiences have been horrific, others I would have called very good until I went to this Vet Clinic, and they have completely raised the bar at what a great experience at the Vet actually is after experiencing the absolutely amazing customer service, kindness, caring, consideration and the genuine love for felines that everyone who works at this Vet Clinic has. You can tell as soon as you walk in everyone who works there absolutely loves cats, you can tell they want what is best for the animal and the Vets as well as the veterinary assistants are all extremely knowledgeable and I have never once gotten the feeling as if they were unsure or perhaps didn't know what they were talking about (which unfortunately is a feeling Ive gotten many times in the past at other places) They also have extremely fair pricing and they don't add on extra items that are unnecessary in order to line their pockets. The thing that made me really really love them was the was things were dealt with after having to sadly have my best friend, my 14 year old Siamese put to sleep. They were beyond empathetic and helpful, both emotionally as well as practically, helping to figure out all the final arrangements without feeling at all rushed. I was absolutely shocked and surprised to get a lovely card in the mail from their office about a week later losing my cat. This card was not some generic, computer typed message that they send to every pet owner who loses an animal, but literally signed by at least five or six different staff members with genuine with messages of sympathy for the loss of my cat. It made me cry and I will keep it forever. As if this wasnt all great enough, I just now got an email saying that they have my cats paw prints and I can pick them up anytime...That wasnt even something I was aware that they did, but Im beyond thankful that they did and I can have something else to remember him by. Seriously, if you have a cat go here don't even think twice, you and your cat(s) thank me later. My hairless cat, Butter Chicken actually loves going there. He gets sooooo much love and attention every time he goes there, Im pretty sure he thinks hes a superstar at this point. :) Thank you so so much The Cat Hospital of Kamloops for your caring and compassion. I want to disclose that this is not a review of the clinic as a whole but on Dr. Sandy. This was our first and last visit. I came in to see Dr. Sandy in regard to a few general physical health concerns for my diabetic cat. He instead began to explain to me what diabetes was. Assuming I did not know anything about the disease my cat has had over 1 year now which I have been researching, monitoring at home, adjusting dosages as needed, and providing her with the best care that I possibly can having input from hundreds of people. He proceeded to tell me that because I’m using a human monitor that is why her number are fluctuating so horribly (which they are not because he did not actually ask if they were and just assumed). It has also been proven time and again that human BG monitors have similar readings to pet specific ones and read only a little lower the higher the number, they were around first after all and have been used by many many diabetic cat owners. My usage of this monitor is not what is affecting my cat's numbers, the insulin she has not made progress on is. Again, this was not even what I came in to discuss. He then proceeded to ask what diet my cat was on before leaving the room to go look at x-rays. I explained that she was on a raw diet. I’m providing her the lowest possible carb diet I can to keep her healthy. He refused to examine my cat from there because I would not switch her onto a commercial pet food. Yes there is not a lot of data yet on raw diets however, I will not put her on kibble or wet foods vets carry because of their high carbohydrate and sugar content. He asked if he wanted me to clarify the why and I did want him to however, because I said I as unlikely to switch he did not want to waste time. Which of course I understand but I still want that dialogue. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a vet. He assumed my ignorance, though I have worked with vets and take the utmost care of my diabetic feline. He made me feel like I was only doing everything wrong and I'm the reason she's not moving towards remission. He did not even address the acne and balding concerns I had, which is what I came in for. Instead I stressed her out for a half and hour car ride that was never necessary. I want a veterinarian who can have a two way conversation, where we can openly discuss matters of health. Even if we don't agree that open dialogue is what any professional should strive to achieve. It should also be very clear on your website that patients will be refused service based on diet or other possible issues. If for no other reason to keep cats from being stressed out. I do not enjoy leaving this review and I do hope for a response. Read Less
