I need to chime in regarding the unfriendly, even rude behavior of the front office staff at Albatross Vet clinic since it’s new ownership. We have 7 cats and dogs and travel considerable distances to Albatross since 1992. the Change in attitude toward clients is profound and unpleasant. Telefon appointment setups, questions or follow up conversations are brushed off rudely and are often incomplete or wrong info is given. Paperwork like vaccination certificates are filled out wrong and require a second rectification visit. Aside that certificates and / or medications are processed in a snail pace, the persons doing it often seems unorganized and confused. One is frequently left with the impression of a rather disorganized operation versus a professional vet office where everyone is competent doing their job.
We have not had any complains regarding the competency and „bedside manners“ of the attending vets.

Myself and my family previously used to see Dr. Z ,the owner of Albatross Veterinary Clinic for all our pets before he retired. Staff was always super helpful, until our visit a few weeks ago under the newer owner Dr. Christopher Wessell.
I called to make an appointment for my (very large cat) and requested some help,as I also have a 3yr old son who is adhd & asd and is super hyperactive. He also has Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and is borderline immune compromised.The clinic is small and cannot accommodate a stroller. I can’t manage both the cat carrier and my hyperactive 3yr old on my own.
Reception said that it would not be problem to help with our cat. When I arrived she took the cat into the female veterinarian,who called me on my phone,so I didn’t have to bring my son inside the clinic.
The female veterinarian advised our cat needed some additional tests in which we would have to put the cat to sleep.I said I didn’t know when I could come back to the clinic,as I would have to bring my daughter to help with the cat.
Reception said it would be no problem and that I would just have to drop the cat off and “ they could help me bring the cat into the clinic, from my car again.
When I arrived the next day to drop our cat off, I only opened the door of the clinic and asked if someone could assist me getting the cat inside ( he was in a carrier) The office manager had no idea who I was at this point. She was rude and seemed “put out” that I was asking for assistance. Even though I was told at our last appointment, this would not be problem.
She then wanted me to bring the cat around the back of the clinic, which meant I would have to leave my 3 yr old screaming in the car on his own.
I was told to call the clinic at noon about my cat. I believe it was the office manager,who was again rude on the phone and said she couldn’t help bring my cat to the car.
She went on to say my cat was on a “caution” and she wouldn’t touch our cat. Our cat is the most docile cat ever and loves people.(See attached photos)
When I arrived at the clinic, I called to speak to the owner of Albatross, regarding the office manager’s rude unhelpful behaviour.The Office Manager came outside again, after I requested NOT to speak to her again. She purposely started arguing with me while my 3 yr old was in the car.
This was the most DISGUSTING customer service and animal service EVER. An animal medical clinic that won’t help a mother with a special needs young preschooler and their pet?Do they not help elderly clients with their pets either?
The male Veterinarian owner Dr. Wessell who took over from Dr. V offered no apology, but just tried to justify his Office Manager’s behaviour. He said the cat has a “ caution” so she didn’t need to help me.
Keep in mind that when I first went into the clinic in the morning,The Office Manager had no idea who I was or which animal I was bringing in when she started being rude and unhelpful.
All I asked for, was if they could help bring the cat to my car in his CARRIER. If she was concerned that our cat was aggressive, the cat was in a CARRIER!! If the Vet or Vet Tech are unable to get a cat in a carrier, I definitely would NOT recommend bringing your pets to this clinic!
We will NOT be coming back to Albatross Veterinary Clinic.Absolutely,disgusting behaviour. Recently,we attended Crescent Beach Veterinary Clinic who were VERY helpful and caring!
Our cat was assessed and they found he had an abscess tooth which it seems was the cause of his problems.The fact that Albatross’s Veterinarians did not check his mouth,even when he was asleep for testing is outrageous!
I would NOT entrust your pet’s care to this clinic.

Love them! Started with Dr. Z. XOXO Then Dr. Chris and Dr. Chantelle. The kindest most compassionate people I have ever met. Excellent Vets. My babies always loved going there. You could actually tell they cared. They listened. I could go on but anyone who goes to Albatross will know what I mean. I have heard they aren’t taking on more right now but that just adds to the fact that they are simply amazing and people who go to them with their beloved pets keep going because of the care they get there. And they are so affordable. I’ve gone to some that took me months to recover from. Vets like those ones do not care about animals...just money. So sad. I will always go to Albatross because I trust them. And the care they give is excellent. And all my four legged babies love going there...what more proof does anyone need. :) Animals know good people! Take it from them!!!

The Veterinarians and Vet Tech's are amazing!

Anyways Not here @ Albatross the DR Provided exceptional care and the staff were great My cat passed on in a good place with no pain and a lot of love

Amazing Vet Office! Dr Chris saved our dogs life, and the price was about 15% of what we were quoted at the emergency clinic the night prior ($1,400 compared to $10,000 plus for digestive re-sectioning surgery). I personally like the 'country charm' of this place. Quite frankly, when I walk into any professional office, I often wonder who pays for the expensive lounge furniture, the televisions etc etc (hint: it's you).
Competent and friendly staff, skilled vets, and beyond reasonable prices. Plus, our dogs have actually grown to like the place. I travel too frequently for work and our dogs always seem to get some minor illness before a big trip. I've never had trouble getting squeezed in for a last-minute same-day appointment for peace of mind when this happens.
We've considered moving abroad a couple of times over the last year, and the conversation always ends with 'but what about the vet...' - that's how much we appreciate these guys.

Excellent surgery and care saved our husky, Sky, from a very nasty malignant perianal tumor at age 14 - he lived 4 1/2 more wonderful years to age 18 1/2 when he passed in his sleep - his renewed health luck and the great care at Albatross - in spite of the pathologists guess he'd only have a few more months. They also saved our cat Mars from the brink of death due to diabetes at age 16 - Mars, now 20 years old is still doing great on the insulin injections. doing great on the 2x a day insulin injections. Dr Chris and Dr. Zwambourne (now retired) are wonderful - love this country style clinic in south Langley - beautiful drive from central Langley. Runs for dogs waiting or recovering - informed and very nice staff.

We took our dog Kallie there over the past weekend as she had passed away and we were wanting to get her cremated. They were extremely empathetic , helped us with everything and made the process seem less confusing. they helped us get her out of the truck and they let us take as much time as needed with her once we had dropped her off into the room. We had written letters to her and asked them to be cremated with her, they accepted the request without hesitation. They are really there to make the entire process as painless as it could be. Cost wise, they were the most reasonable place, makes you feel like they are actually trying to help you out instead of making money off of your loss. I would absolutely recommend this place to any pet owner!

Our barn cat came home with an eye injury last week. Knowing that his original owners had taken him to Albatross, I called them up. They were very helpful, doing a search to find his old records. I got an appointment that same day. The doctor was excellent! He gave a quick diagnosis and treatment options. Our boy needed to have minor surgery to repair the tissue around his eye. Hearing this, I immediately started worrying about how much it was going to cost. Anytime I have ever heard a vet say "anesthesia" it has been a very costly venture. Of course, we agreed to treatment and the doctor made time to do it right away. We were back to pick him up in a few hours. Total cost for: exam, operation, antibiotic drops, and a full round of vaccines...$198!! I couldn't believe it. We booked a follow up appointment one week later, and unfortunately the kitty got away from me when I tried to get him in his crate. I called the office to let them know we wouldn't make it - 15 mins before the appointment - and they were totally understanding and didn't give me any grief. Can't recommend them highly enough. Our other 2 cats will definitely be going to this clinic.

I went to Albatross many years ago, and had a very positive experience. Warm and friendly staff, caring vet, and remarkably reasonable cost. Since then have been seeing a vet much closer and have become increasingly dissatisfied with the service and the cost, especially all the expensive test that they tell me are required for my cats.
Today I went back to Albatross and loved it. For being so out of the way, it was very busy, but everyone was attentive and caring. My 17-year old cat had been very hostile towards the previous vet (hissing, biting and scratching), but with Dr Zwamborn she was fine. She was comfortable with his kind and gentle manner. I was pleased that he recommended only one test, basically attributing her other problems to old age. He seemed to care more about my cat than he did about the money he could make, as I felt about my previous vet.
From now on, it's Albatross for me and my two kitties! I highly recommend it.

Fair prices makes me come back with all my dogs even though he is almost an hour away. HIs protege Dr Chris appears to walking into the same foot steps and ethics. One day Zwamborn will have to retire and I do hope that Dr. Chris will be the same as Bill is. Honest, direct and does only what is needed. I could list Dozens of awesome Zwamborn stories.. as there that many but as he is fazing out and Dr Chris in. I will share a Dr Chris story... my dog was bitten by a lab in a dog park, the lab tore a hole in her shoulder. ANY OTHER vet would have told me we had to anesthetize her and stitch it up... but in true Zwamborn fashion, Dr. C says I think we can get this done by stapling instead of stitching... He does it, no drugs except antibiotics, and $90 later, and two weeks... she is completely healed. Now the story could end here but I am in the dog park again. yes i checked the lab was not there, and i meet another person who tells me the same story about the same lab, she went to another vet... her bill? $750!!!! Same size wound, actually i think hers was smaller, but the vet told her stitching was her only option... That lady now goes to Albatross as well.

However, some of the receptions lack some people skills. They are not very friendly or polite or helpful for that matter. I drive a ways to go here but there are vets just as good nearby where the staff are more welcoming to customers for sure.The pro is that the times are good and they are accommodating and, like I said, the vets are good too.

When I was there a man brought in an injured dog he found on his property. He didn't own the dog and couldn't pay for it, but they started treatment on the dog right away anyways. Good caring people.

A simple good morning, a simple smile, acknowledgement, a simple thank you or even a good bye would be wonderful. I get that the establishment is very busy and people are coming in and out, but where is the simple act of saying HELLO?It never killed anyone to show some manners!

I'm glad that I have an amazing vet that can save my dogs life. She was diagnosed with cancer (level 3). Which is the worst. They say that there was a 80 percent chance that she would get it back. Three months later still cancer free, and getting check ups every 2 months! Thanks Doc for saving my pup!

I need to chime in regarding the unfriendly, even rude behavior of the front office staff at Albatross Vet clinic since it’s new ownership. We have 7 cats and dogs and travel considerable distances to Albatross since 1992. the Change in attitude toward clients is profound and unpleasant. Telefon appointment setups, questions or follow up conversations are brushed off rudely and are often incomplete or wrong info is given. Paperwork like vaccination certificates are filled out wrong and require a second rectification visit. Aside that certificates and / or medications are processed in a snail pace, the persons doing it often seems unorganized and confused. One is frequently left with the impression of a rather disorganized operation versus a professional vet office where everyone is competent doing their job.
We have not had any complains regarding the competency and „bedside manners“ of the attending vets.

Myself and my family previously used to see Dr. Z ,the owner of Albatross Veterinary Clinic for all our pets before he retired. Staff was always super helpful, until our visit a few weeks ago under the newer owner Dr. Christopher Wessell.
I called to make an appointment for my (very large cat) and requested some help,as I also have a 3yr old son who is adhd & asd and is super hyperactive. He also has Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and is borderline immune compromised.The clinic is small and cannot accommodate a stroller. I can’t manage both the cat carrier and my hyperactive 3yr old on my own.
Reception said that it would not be problem to help with our cat. When I arrived she took the cat into the female veterinarian,who called me on my phone,so I didn’t have to bring my son inside the clinic.
The female veterinarian advised our cat needed some additional tests in which we would have to put the cat to sleep.I said I didn’t know when I could come back to the clinic,as I would have to bring my daughter to help with the cat.
Reception said it would be no problem and that I would just have to drop the cat off and “ they could help me bring the cat into the clinic, from my car again.
When I arrived the next day to drop our cat off, I only opened the door of the clinic and asked if someone could assist me getting the cat inside ( he was in a carrier) The office manager had no idea who I was at this point. She was rude and seemed “put out” that I was asking for assistance. Even though I was told at our last appointment, this would not be problem.
She then wanted me to bring the cat around the back of the clinic, which meant I would have to leave my 3 yr old screaming in the car on his own.
I was told to call the clinic at noon about my cat. I believe it was the office manager,who was again rude on the phone and said she couldn’t help bring my cat to the car.
She went on to say my cat was on a “caution” and she wouldn’t touch our cat. Our cat is the most docile cat ever and loves people.(See attached photos)
When I arrived at the clinic, I called to speak to the owner of Albatross, regarding the office manager’s rude unhelpful behaviour.The Office Manager came outside again, after I requested NOT to speak to her again. She purposely started arguing with me while my 3 yr old was in the car.
This was the most DISGUSTING customer service and animal service EVER. An animal medical clinic that won’t help a mother with a special needs young preschooler and their pet?Do they not help elderly clients with their pets either?
The male Veterinarian owner Dr. Wessell who took over from Dr. V offered no apology, but just tried to justify his Office Manager’s behaviour. He said the cat has a “ caution” so she didn’t need to help me.
Keep in mind that when I first went into the clinic in the morning,The Office Manager had no idea who I was or which animal I was bringing in when she started being rude and unhelpful.
All I asked for, was if they could help bring the cat to my car in his CARRIER. If she was concerned that our cat was aggressive, the cat was in a CARRIER!! If the Vet or Vet Tech are unable to get a cat in a carrier, I definitely would NOT recommend bringing your pets to this clinic!
We will NOT be coming back to Albatross Veterinary Clinic.Absolutely,disgusting behaviour. Recently,we attended Crescent Beach Veterinary Clinic who were VERY helpful and caring!
Our cat was assessed and they found he had an abscess tooth which it seems was the cause of his problems.The fact that Albatross’s Veterinarians did not check his mouth,even when he was asleep for testing is outrageous!
I would NOT entrust your pet’s care to this clinic.

Love them! Started with Dr. Z. XOXO Then Dr. Chris and Dr. Chantelle. The kindest most compassionate people I have ever met. Excellent Vets. My babies always loved going there. You could actually tell they cared. They listened. I could go on but anyone who goes to Albatross will know what I mean. I have heard they aren’t taking on more right now but that just adds to the fact that they are simply amazing and people who go to them with their beloved pets keep going because of the care they get there. And they are so affordable. I’ve gone to some that took me months to recover from. Vets like those ones do not care about animals...just money. So sad. I will always go to Albatross because I trust them. And the care they give is excellent. And all my four legged babies love going there...what more proof does anyone need. :) Animals know good people! Take it from them!!!

The Veterinarians and Vet Tech's are amazing!
My dogs are always excited to go to the vet and wine until I take them inside. I will never go to anouther Vet. Even my Kennel only uses them.

Anyways Not here @ Albatross the DR Provided exceptional care and the staff were great My cat passed on in a good place with no pain and a lot of love

Amazing Vet Office! Dr Chris saved our dogs life, and the price was about 15% of what we were quoted at the emergency clinic the night prior ($1,400 compared to $10,000 plus for digestive re-sectioning surgery). I personally like the 'country charm' of this place. Quite frankly, when I walk into any professional office, I often wonder who pays for the expensive lounge furniture, the televisions etc etc (hint: it's you).
Competent and friendly staff, skilled vets, and beyond reasonable prices. Plus, our dogs have actually grown to like the place. I travel too frequently for work and our dogs always seem to get some minor illness before a big trip. I've never had trouble getting squeezed in for a last-minute same-day appointment for peace of mind when this happens.
We've considered moving abroad a couple of times over the last year, and the conversation always ends with 'but what about the vet...' - that's how much we appreciate these guys.

Excellent surgery and care saved our husky, Sky, from a very nasty malignant perianal tumor at age 14 - he lived 4 1/2 more wonderful years to age 18 1/2 when he passed in his sleep - his renewed health luck and the great care at Albatross - in spite of the pathologists guess he'd only have a few more months. They also saved our cat Mars from the brink of death due to diabetes at age 16 - Mars, now 20 years old is still doing great on the insulin injections. doing great on the 2x a day insulin injections. Dr Chris and Dr. Zwambourne (now retired) are wonderful - love this country style clinic in south Langley - beautiful drive from central Langley. Runs for dogs waiting or recovering - informed and very nice staff.

Friendly staff and vets are good to deal with and are trustworthy. They never try to pressure you into anything your pet doesn't require either. Reasonable fees. Relaxed atmosphere.

We took our dog Kallie there over the past weekend as she had passed away and we were wanting to get her cremated. They were extremely empathetic , helped us with everything and made the process seem less confusing. they helped us get her out of the truck and they let us take as much time as needed with her once we had dropped her off into the room. We had written letters to her and asked them to be cremated with her, they accepted the request without hesitation. They are really there to make the entire process as painless as it could be. Cost wise, they were the most reasonable place, makes you feel like they are actually trying to help you out instead of making money off of your loss. I would absolutely recommend this place to any pet owner!

Our barn cat came home with an eye injury last week. Knowing that his original owners had taken him to Albatross, I called them up. They were very helpful, doing a search to find his old records. I got an appointment that same day. The doctor was excellent! He gave a quick diagnosis and treatment options. Our boy needed to have minor surgery to repair the tissue around his eye. Hearing this, I immediately started worrying about how much it was going to cost. Anytime I have ever heard a vet say "anesthesia" it has been a very costly venture. Of course, we agreed to treatment and the doctor made time to do it right away. We were back to pick him up in a few hours. Total cost for: exam, operation, antibiotic drops, and a full round of vaccines...$198!! I couldn't believe it. We booked a follow up appointment one week later, and unfortunately the kitty got away from me when I tried to get him in his crate. I called the office to let them know we wouldn't make it - 15 mins before the appointment - and they were totally understanding and didn't give me any grief. Can't recommend them highly enough. Our other 2 cats will definitely be going to this clinic.

I went to Albatross many years ago, and had a very positive experience. Warm and friendly staff, caring vet, and remarkably reasonable cost. Since then have been seeing a vet much closer and have become increasingly dissatisfied with the service and the cost, especially all the expensive test that they tell me are required for my cats.
Today I went back to Albatross and loved it. For being so out of the way, it was very busy, but everyone was attentive and caring. My 17-year old cat had been very hostile towards the previous vet (hissing, biting and scratching), but with Dr Zwamborn she was fine. She was comfortable with his kind and gentle manner. I was pleased that he recommended only one test, basically attributing her other problems to old age. He seemed to care more about my cat than he did about the money he could make, as I felt about my previous vet.
From now on, it's Albatross for me and my two kitties! I highly recommend it.

Fair prices makes me come back with all my dogs even though he is almost an hour away. HIs protege Dr Chris appears to walking into the same foot steps and ethics. One day Zwamborn will have to retire and I do hope that Dr. Chris will be the same as Bill is. Honest, direct and does only what is needed. I could list Dozens of awesome Zwamborn stories.. as there that many but as he is fazing out and Dr Chris in. I will share a Dr Chris story... my dog was bitten by a lab in a dog park, the lab tore a hole in her shoulder. ANY OTHER vet would have told me we had to anesthetize her and stitch it up... but in true Zwamborn fashion, Dr. C says I think we can get this done by stapling instead of stitching... He does it, no drugs except antibiotics, and $90 later, and two weeks... she is completely healed. Now the story could end here but I am in the dog park again. yes i checked the lab was not there, and i meet another person who tells me the same story about the same lab, she went to another vet... her bill? $750!!!! Same size wound, actually i think hers was smaller, but the vet told her stitching was her only option... That lady now goes to Albatross as well.

I have to agree with the woman on here from earlier. The vet is great. Dr. Z is pretty much retired now though but luckily I have had good experiences with the other male vet there. However, some of the receptions lack some people skills. They are not very friendly or polite or helpful for that matter. I drive a ways to go here but there are vets just as good nearby where the staff are more welcoming to customers for sure.The pro is that the times are good and they are accommodating and, like I said, the vets are good too.

When I was there a man brought in an injured dog he found on his property. He didn't own the dog and couldn't pay for it, but they started treatment on the dog right away anyways. Good caring people.

He knows what he is doing for sure!My only issue i have is- wish that the two young receptionist at the front desk can be polite. A simple good morning, a simple smile, acknowledgement, a simple thank you or even a good bye would be wonderful. I get that the establishment is very busy and people are coming in and out, but where is the simple act of saying HELLO?It never killed anyone to show some manners!

I'm glad that I have an amazing vet that can save my dogs life. She was diagnosed with cancer (level 3). Which is the worst. They say that there was a 80 percent chance that she would get it back. Three months later still cancer free, and getting check ups every 2 months! Thanks Doc for saving my pup!
