I absolutely love Dr. Crawford! We just finished with the yearly checkup and vaccinations for my cat Aurora who was terrified. This was our first visit to Dewdney Animal Hospital after getting all records transferred over from the old vet and Dr. Crawford made sure to go over everything with us. She advised us of new knowledge, practices, etc. and explained why things have changed. She spent about 30 minutes getting know Aurora and allowing her to become more comfortable in the room before even touching her or starting the exam. Once Aurora was more relaxed she very gently guided her out of the sink and onto the table for a very fast but thorough exam and immunizations. She was very soft spoken, polite, and thorough with everything she did. The prices are a bit more than other clinics, however, I found that the politeness and thoroughness of the service was well worth the price paid. I took my beloved cat here to be euthanized today (Monday). They were able to book us this appt quickly with the focus on relieving suffering. The Dewdney team were professional and proficient. I felt that we were well cared for. We are not clients here. My own Vet office that I have been going to for over 10 years could not/would not fit us in until Wednesday late afternoon. I've been going to this clinic since I got my kitty back in 2012. Since then I have brought my boa constrictors, my pupp, my lizards. Dr. Walton is very knowledgeable about reptiles which is great and he is always willing to help us out and educate us every time we visit him. Staff is also very lovely to deal with. Dr Adrian Walton is truly the most amazing vet that my husband and I have ever met. He was so caring for our little kitty cat, he truly went above and beyond for us and did everything he could for our kitty cat. With 3 dogs and three horses, I spend a decent amount of time around vets. I am beyond impressed with the staff at Dewdney Animal Hospital and with Dr. Crawford. Our dog Sophie had surgery there on Friday. She is an older, cranky little dog and the staff were so good with her! She ended up having a couple of complications due to her old age and they were so great about seeing her super quickly! We felt really well taken care of, Dr. Crawford was amazing, very caring and really willing to go above and beyond for us. I will, without a doubt, be going to see her with our dogs from now on. My cat was taken to Dewdney Animal Hospital when it was hit by a car. I received a call while at work in Vancouver saying that my cat needed to be taken to an emergency hospital but that he was being kept comfortable. The closest emergency hospital was Langley. I was going to have my daughter jump in a cab and take her cat to Langley but I got a call back from the doctor who graciously offered to drive him there herself. I was very grateful. The doctor at Langley told me that it would be over $8,000 for my cat to have the surgery he urgently needed and there were no guarantees that he would have any kind of life let alone make it through the surgery, my best option was to have him put to sleep. I made that stressful decision. I had to pay nearly $400 for this. In the middle of October I received a call from Dewdney animal hospital telling me that I owed nearly $500 for my cat. I had not received an invoice and this was my first phone call. She quoted me an address that the invoice had been sent to which I had not lived at for two years. My veterinary clinic where they originally got my phone number from has updated my file. I gave her my address. She advised that she would send out a new invoice and I said that I would make a payment at the end of October. I never received an invoice. Mid November I received a notice from a collection agency. I still to this day have not received an invoice. I called and asked why they would send to a collection agency. Normally people get first and second notices before this happens, or so I've been told. The first woman said she didn't know she was just a "stupid receptionist" I said you're not stupid! She said I will get someone that knows. Then a woman came on the line and I was told it was send to collections because I didn't come in and make a payment at the end of October. I said I wasn't going to pay for something when I don't even know what it is I'm paying for and that she said she would send an invoice. She said you could have seen the invoice when you came in to make a payment. Perhaps the original conversation she got her wires crossed and thought that since I was going to make a payment she wouldn't have to send me the invoice. She was extremely rude. "I'm not going to argue with you" was all she kept saying, not letting me get a word in edgewise and then hung up on me......I'm sure the doctors there are great but the office practices and the staff are despicable just like any business the front line is who you encounter first and I would NEVER bring my pet there. I was having the most difficult time finding a vet that would look at my mini pig, but Dr. Walton was extremely open to helping us with his tusks and feet!! I can't say enough good things about this place and everyone in it! My dogs are my kids and I have never felt more comfortable with a vet and the entire staff and confident in their work... Everyone is honest (which is number 1 for me) happy, has a sense of humour, and genuinely cares a lot. On top of that, first vet my girl has been to that she hasn't barked at all at the vet.... I was shocked when I had to leave her there and she just left into the back with them without hesitation and didn't look back haha- she trusts everyone and that spoke volumes to me as well.. if she likes you so do I! So beyond impressed with this clinic. We have only been here twice but in those times they have shown us that they really care about the animals. Not just their physical health but mental health as well. They welcomed my terrified dog with so much love and gave him as well as myself and children so much reassurance that not every experience has to be as bad as what we had else where. By the end of the appointment my dog refused to leave and I needed help dragging him out of there. Both visits were super informative about everything. Even things we weren't there for but may come up down the road. Dr Walton even offered to let my girls listen to their dogs heart. Even though too shy to this time haven't stopped talking about it. My husband and I could not me happier with the care and service we've received from the staff and vet at Dewdney Animal Hospital. We had a bad experience with our kitten at a different vet, and expressed our concerns to the vet at Dewdney at our first visit. Dr Crawford took our feelings and concerns into consideration, and more importantly she took AMAZING care of our kitty, and even went the extra mile to ensure our girl wasn't scared during her exam. I was so impressed by her and the rest of the staff there, and felt very comfortable with the care our kitten was receiving. Our kitty is a feisty little thing, who will definitely let you know when she's not very happy, but Dr. Crawford and the rest of the staff were always very gentle with her, even when she got a little scared. Dr. Walton and his staff are renown throughout the Metro Vancouver area for their impeccable care for not only client animals but also shelter animals.  His clinic is my back-up clinic when I can't get out to Granville Island and I can't say enough good things about them.  The only thing I can say that's a con about them is that they are not specialists in the pets that I own but (dog and cat) but rather focus more on exotics. Dr. Walton and his team are well worth the drive from Vancouver to Maple Ridge. Dewdney Animal hospital will not recommend services that are not necessary as many other clinics do to pet owners. Dr Walton is a key part of Without Borders Boxer Rescue, providing medical care to injured boxers that come from California. He is donates his time for the local SPCA. As I was picking up my dog yesterday, I overheard him offer to provide care for come chihahaus that had been removed from a hoarding situation.Dewdney Animal Hospital is amazing thanks to its care and staff!
