We were travelling the Coquihalla Hwy last summer and our 14 year old Shi-tzu became very distressed, panting and wanting our attention. We had no idea what could be wrong but it was extreme behaviour in our normally calm little pet. As luck would have it we were nearing Merritt although close to closing time for most businesses. I called ahead to MVH and they said of course to bring her in as soon as we got to town. I'd like to add that I have had our Ship-tzu in for regular check ups, in my home town, approximately every 6 months because she has an eye condition, and everything would get checked over at that time. Dr. Paul Molnar looked her over,flushed her ears, took a swab of them and discovered ear mites! He said she probably had them for years! Poor thing! (I find it hard to comprehend why numerous other Vets hadn't noticed a problem.) Some meds to take the swelling and pain away and drops to treat her for a few days, and we were on our way again. my dog got sick suddenly and was very lethargic and was bleeding from the rectum. I called in a panic and need my dog looked at immediately and since I live in Princeton this was the closed vet I knew of. I called and explained my situation and asked if I could bring him over right away and the reaction I got was this at 3:30 pm on wed. afternoon "YOU WANT TO BRING HIM NOW!!" " I said yes I need him looked at right away I don't know what is wrong with him. " "you will need an appointment" I said but this is an emergency and the reaction I got back was have him here by 4:00. I said I will do my best but it is 3:30 now and I have to drive from Princeton, she said the vet is leaving at 4:00 and I said my dog is dieing I need him looked at and she said well then have him here at 4:00. as it turned out we knew we couldn't make it by 4:00 so we risked taking him to a different vet further away and when I called back to tell her we wouldn't be coming that we just couldn't make it in that time and my dog was dieing she said bring him and we will look at him either in the morning or after hours and I said there is no time for that he is dieing.She did not offer any help of any kind. He died an hour later and if I could have taken him to merritt they might have been able to save him so I will never recommend your clinic to anyone nor will I ever take any of my animals to your clinic. Dr. Flemming & the staff are amazing! I just rescued a Boston Terrier and they've helped me ensure that Tigger gets the best possible care! I'll drive from outside of Kamloops to this clinic and I don't live south! Both excellent vets who really care about your animals. Just wish they were closer so they could take care of our horse emergencies as well. For those who live in the Kamloops area, their prices are much more reasonable plus the excellent care. Read Less
