IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET...PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM LOUGHEED ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!! I am regretting my decision to have them as our Vet. Despite having no red flags towards me, or my 2 dogs, and seemingly genuine care before...That all changed and our lives changed on Nov 28th. My sweet Bailey broke his nail very badly after trying to chase a squirrel in the backyard at 1:45pm. I phoned Lougheed Animal Hospital and they said Dr. Singh would not be in until 3pm. I asked if it was okay to bring Bailey down, so they could keep him in a kennel so he wouldn't hurt himself more. When I took him there, he was not having any issues breathing, and was only whining. At some point, between 2pm (when I got him there) and 3pm when Dr. Singh came in, He was in respiratory distress. No one Called me to inform me of this, I got a call just after 4pm letting me know that Bailey was able to be picked up.When I picked up Bailey, Dr. Singh told me that his breathing was not right and his tongue was purple, and said he had no time to check it out, and to make another appointment. He also said he didn't sedate him and only used a local to remove his nail and cauterize it. When I got Bailey into the car, I realized that something was seriously wrong and took him back in. He insisted I take him home, so he could calm down. Since I was not liking the idea, he said if it didn't get better, to come back. SO OF COURSE I ENDED UP COMING BACK.I insisted on oxygen, and he gave Bailey a tranquilizer. That shot made him worse because now he couldn't mobilize his body. Because they were closing, and there would be no one to watch him, they sent me to The Abby Emergency Vet. They ended up sending us to Coastal Rivers, and they were able to diagnose what was wrong, right away. He had Laryngeal Paralysis.HOW DOES A VET NOT KNOW WHAT THIS IS, WHEN IT IS A COMMON THING? My Bailey Boy was suffering for 7 hours, not being able to breath. It went on too long, to go for surgery (which I would of had to drive him to Langley for), which would of meant he would be struggling longer. We decided to let him go, and I was lucky to be by his side through it all. Bailey was finally at rest at 9:20pm.WHY DID DR. SINGH NOT CATCH THIS? WHY DID DR. SINGH NOT CARE ABOUT OUR DOG? WHY DID NO ONE CALL ME TO INFORM ME OF BAILEY'S ISSUE OF BREATHING? WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BAILEY BETWEEN 2 AND 3? The Vet Assistants are just as much as fault as he is.PLEASE go elsewhere for care of your animals. These people have no compassion for your family members. Bailey would of turned 9 years old on Dec 5th, and this coming up Feb we would of had him for 9 years. His sister (same litter) is now without her brother, and we are without our Bailey Boy. My decisions, and seeing Bailey suffer, will haunt me for the rest of my life, Please...I do not want any of you to go through the same horror.JUSTICE FOR BAILEY!!!
