IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET...PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM LOUGHEED ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!! I am regretting my decision to have them as our Vet. Despite having no red flags towards me, or my 2 dogs, and seemingly genuine care before...That all changed and our lives changed on Nov 28th. My sweet Bailey broke his nail very badly after trying to chase a squirrel in the backyard at 1:45pm. I phoned Lougheed Animal Hospital and they said Dr. Singh would not be in until 3pm. I asked if it was okay to bring Bailey down, so they could keep him in a kennel so he wouldn't hurt himself more. When I took him there, he was not having any issues breathing, and was only whining. At some point, between 2pm (when I got him there) and 3pm when Dr. Singh came in, He was in respiratory distress. No one Called me to inform me of this, I got a call just after 4pm letting me know that Bailey was able to be picked up.When I picked up Bailey, Dr. Singh told me that his breathing was not right and his tongue was purple, and said he had no time to check it out, and to make another appointment. He also said he didn't sedate him and only used a local to remove his nail and cauterize it. When I got Bailey into the car, I realized that something was seriously wrong and took him back in. He insisted I take him home, so he could calm down. Since I was not liking the idea, he said if it didn't get better, to come back. SO OF COURSE I ENDED UP COMING BACK.I insisted on oxygen, and he gave Bailey a tranquilizer. That shot made him worse because now he couldn't mobilize his body. Because they were closing, and there would be no one to watch him, they sent me to The Abby Emergency Vet. They ended up sending us to Coastal Rivers, and they were able to diagnose what was wrong, right away. He had Laryngeal Paralysis.HOW DOES A VET NOT KNOW WHAT THIS IS, WHEN IT IS A COMMON THING? My Bailey Boy was suffering for 7 hours, not being able to breath. It went on too long, to go for surgery (which I would of had to drive him to Langley for), which would of meant he would be struggling longer. We decided to let him go, and I was lucky to be by his side through it all. Bailey was finally at rest at 9:20pm.WHY DID DR. SINGH NOT CATCH THIS? WHY DID DR. SINGH NOT CARE ABOUT OUR DOG? WHY DID NO ONE CALL ME TO INFORM ME OF BAILEY'S ISSUE OF BREATHING? WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BAILEY BETWEEN 2 AND 3? The Vet Assistants are just as much as fault as he is.PLEASE go elsewhere for care of your animals. These people have no compassion for your family members. Bailey would of turned 9 years old on Dec 5th, and this coming up Feb we would of had him for 9 years. His sister (same litter) is now without her brother, and we are without our Bailey Boy. My decisions, and seeing Bailey suffer, will haunt me for the rest of my life, Please...I do not want any of you to go through the same horror.JUSTICE FOR BAILEY!!! I called 2 wks ago, desperate for a local vet to look at our dog's ear which was swollen and infected. This 10-yr old lab-ridgeback cross loves putting his head under water, makes friends with everyone and only barks at bears, but he is absolutely irrationally terrified of vet offices & lab coats. The staff provided an estimate over the phone (quite accurate), booked a Sunday AM appointment for us, and then shuffled other appointments to make time to complete the anesthesia & emergency aural hematoma surgery the same day. The office staff were very understanding of our pup's intense fear and the ladies were calm and comforting. Dr Dhaliwal's surgery went perfectly and exactly as he explained it would work. We returned today to have the sutures removed (so many sutures!) and Dr Dhaliwal even left his lab coat off and offered to remove the sutures right in the waiting area so the quivering, semi-sedated 86lb boy didn't need to be moved again. We are grateful for the experienced care, professional staff and reasonable prices at Lougheed Animal Hospital. Dr Dhaliwal was compassionate and explained everything to us before and after, he was kind and calm even when our boy wasn't on his best behaviour. We hope not to be back soon... but that is no reflection on the Dr and the office staff. Thank you to everyone at Lougheed Animal Hospital. (: Read Less

My female lab X has been going here since she was a puppy and they have always been good to her. She’s gotten all of her shots there and the vet is nice, she is comfortable with him. She recently got spayed there last week and she was groggy that day (of course she is, she just had surgery). The next day it was like nothing had even happened. We were new to Mission and took our healthy elderly Welsh Border Collie to this vet (who was nearest to us) as she suddenly fell ill and was not eating and couldn't even walk. The vet had no idea what was wrong with her and suggested we leave her with them, which we did. She was in for a week on a drip and not getting any better as we visited her everyday. To us it seemed that she was even being attended to, just left in a steel cage. After a week and a $1000.00 bill, we brought her home. Someone then mentioned that she could have a tick... after checking her long coat we found a volcano of ticks just under her tail. Unfortunately we were too late and our beautiful Koko passed away a few days later. We take our fur babes to these vets to find answers to medical issues and we feel this VET should have at least checked her for ticks... From what I have read and what local (new friends) people have told us... STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET! He should not even be practicing! I do not even want to give 1 star but if you don't you can't "POST"... Read Less

We had to take our dog that we rescued from Mexico here to have her put down for attacking someone. We were unable to go to our regular vet. The girls in the front were lovely and very sympathetic as I cried the whole time we were in the vet. The doctor however doesn't even deserve the one star. On top of not even asking why we were putting down a healthy dog, he was also incredibly rude and clearly just wanted to get out of the clinic and head home. This man should not have his licence to be a vet. He has no compassion whatsoever. Read Less

NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE, PLEASE READ! I took my 1.5 year old cat to Lougheed Animal Hospital in Mission for her booster and feline leukemia vaccinations and exam. Dr Dhaliwal was incompetent, clearly fearful of my cat and NOT AT ALL a confident veterinarian. He had my husband check both her ears, mouth and gums while he looked from a foot away. I would have been willing to forgive that, however, when it came time to administer each vaccine, my husband was still firmly and confidently holding our cat down, while Dr Dhaliwal gathered some skin on her back, stabbed her w/ the needle (this is expected to administer vaccines) BUT when my cat yelped and moved her head to look at him (she wasn’t able to move far, nor jump, nor scratch or bite the Dr because as I said my husband was firmly holding her down) he pulled the needle out jumping away from her not having given the vaccine, he did this TWO MORE TIMES stabbing her and pulling it out w/o having administered the vaccine because he wasn’t confident that she couldn’t scratch or bite him. When I spoke up and said “Can you please just get the vaccine in her w/o just stabbing her over and over again unnecessarily?” He replied by chuckling and telling me that he had to be concerned w/ getting bit. I COULD HAVE ADMINISTERED THE VACCINE WITHOUT DOING WHAT HE DID WHILE MY HUSBAND RESTRAINED HER! At this point he called in an assistant who held her along with my husband and Dr Dhaliwal ONCE AGAIN stabbed her and pulled away w/o administering the vaccine then FINALLY the 5TH TIME she had been stabbed the first vaccine was given, then the second vaccine. She had to be stabbed w/ the needle over 6 times to administer TWO vaccines! This is completely unacceptable and unnecessary! I have never come across such an incompetent, unconfident, terrible veternarian in my life and I have had experiences at several clinics in Mission and Abbotsford. The one star is only for the front desk staff who did their jobs well, and zero stars for the doctor. Read Less

Where to start, this year has been difficult with our 2 boxers. First our female managed to get 2 puncture wounds on her side from an unknown cause. I called in the morning got in and they stitched it up, and her recovery was very fast. Next our 3 year old boxer injured his leg slipping on the stairs. We brought him in to be examined, we were given 2 options, try an anti-inflammatory first and see how it goes, second to get x-rays. We picked the anti-inflammatory route, which worked at first but later it was quickly realized something else was wrong. The x-rays showed that he had a tumor in his leg and it had destroyed his leg. Because it was a tumor extra x-rays were taken, we were only charged for half of them. What to do next, it was suggested we do blood work to see that the rest of his organs were functioning fine and then a leg amputation was needed with the option of a biopsy. Never once was there any mention that we should put him down, I felt that the Dr. had the best interest of my dog in mind, and that giving him the opportunity to live a long life was the only option, I appreciate this. The amputation went well, he remained in the office for 4 days. Once he got home he had 2 incidents, one time he chewed at his stitches and was bleeding and second time he was vomiting and became very skinny. Both times I called the office, the girls at the front always very friendly told me to bring him down and get him checked out, each time it was suggested he stay for monitoring. Each time i picked him up he seemed much better and is now on the road to recovery, his last stitches come out on Thursday. I am very pleased with the service we received, I always go with my gut when it comes to my animals and I have never once felt uneasy about going to this office. The girls that work there are very friendly and make me feel comfortable leaving my dogs with them if needed. I like how they often will pick my boxers up and take them back instead of pulling them and stressing them out more. I will continue to bring my animals to this office for their health needs. I thank all the staff for taking care of my fur babies, they mean the world to my family and I. Read Less

Hugely disappointed. I felt like I was being ripped off. I went in because my dog that I rescued was having seizures. At the time she was an 11-year-old Shih Tzu. They did bloodwork and examination. The doctor told me that there was some issues with her kidneys and her heart, but her teeth were very bad and he would need to clean them before we did anything else. I asked him if that would be the best thing to do considering her age and that she's having seizures. He said that will be how he would proceed. The visit cost was $350. Of course because I'm not an idiot, took her for a second opinion. Because I knew of her reputation and I worked with her before I took her to Dr. Shelly Horvat at Fraser Valley animal hospital. After about five minutes of listening to her symptoms and asking me questions, she told me that my dog most likely has congestive heart failure but would need to confirm it with an x-ray. Sadly it was confirmed. But at least I have medication to make her more comfortable. I am so scared to think what The outcome would've been had I let the Dr at Lougheed Do his recommendation. I probably wouldn't have my sweet little Sierra today. And to top it all off Dr. Horvat told me that Sierra's teeth we're good for a dog her age. I'm hoping people will avoid this clinic. I told him to please take care of my cat. He requested the information and blood work this clinic did and they would not send it which was no surprise to them as they are use to this clinic doing this. (This is stealing as I paid for them and they belong to me). They told me of a few horror stories about animals that have been brought into them from this clinic. I have told lots of my friends about this experience and they told me they went here as well and their experiences were way to similar. I do not recommend this place. My guess for any good reviews on here, is they are either friends or relatives helping them, or the animal was probably fine or the solution was easy and cheap, but they paid way too much and this clinic made it seem like they performed miracles to look good. I wouldn't trust them. I'm not one to write reviews because I know every company has made mistakes and shouldn't be judged because of an honest mistake. And I know some make a big deal over nothing. This review is in hopes that nobody go's through the needless torment my family was subjected to at a very sad time. I came home from work and our buddy met me at the door as he always would. This day I noticed a large bump on his forarm. I immediately called every vet I could in our area that would be able to see him as soon as possible. This was my first mistake. My dog was afraid of the vet he tried hiding under my chair. Never seen him be afraid like that. The vet made me mussel my dog. Which I have never had to do. He prescribed me two prescriptions one was an antibiotic the other was an anti inflammatory. Told me to give it two weeks if nothing changes bring him back.. it got bigger! So I took him back.. this time he told me they would have to put him under to do tests and an x-ray, I drop him off early as soon as they open. In the room the nurse administered the anaesthetic and has me help drag my poor lifeless dog on a blanket to an exam room.. I felt sick It didn't seem normal. I left. I called periodically through the day to see how the tests were going and how he is. They ask Me to do a teeth cleaning since he is under. I say sure. I come to get him at the end of the day and it's been hrs and he is still under... I wait and wait they bring out my groggy dog who is barely able to walk. I ask how long till we have answers from the test to find they only did an x-ray and that I'd have to bring him back and put him under again to do a biopsy?!?!. Im given the huge bill for the day of just under a grand. I demand to speak to the vet. They finally get him and he tells me to come in the exam room. I explain the fact my dog is seven it isn't healthy to put him under, and ask why they didn't have the tests done when he was here? He says they didn't know if I wanted that?!! I say that's why I brought him here and if that weren't clear they could have spoken to me the times I called through out the day, the reason my dog was brought in the first place.. the growing mass on his leg. I pay the bill and leave. Crying, frustrated and scared I load my heavy, high dog into my vehicle. Once I was home and spoke to my husband nothing seemed to make sense to us except that we were paying for no answers. I made a post about the horrible day I had on Facebook and a friend recommended I take our dog where his gf works in Surrey. I call make appointment, and they got me in the next morning. I had to fight with the staff to retrieve the x-ray I had payed for to bring it to the new vet. I did end up collecting it. We drive to Surrey first thing. We walk in with our dog I'll never forget this' he was so excited and happy to meet this man. He didn't need a mussel. The vet Tells us he doesn't need to even look at the x-ray he says he has bad news to give us and he's sorry but our dog has bone cancer. He refers us to a cancer treatment Vet. He tells us how common this is. He doesn't charge us for the visit. He looks visibly upset about the horrible news he gave us. This is the difference..."he cared". He didn't use a bad situation to make money. My dog didn't need his teeth cleaned he was in pain and was dying. What vet doesn't know the things each breed is susceptible to? We lost our loved loyal friend. The truth was all we needed to know. Not more tests.. Please read reviews. When you are scared don't desperately go to the first open door. Trust your instinct. But especially trust your dog. Read Less

Read Less
