We take both our dogs to Morningside. Dr. Westendorf is a very kind and gentle Vet and has a great 'bedside manor' with our dogs. Recently both dogs developed an aggressive bacterial infection in their paws. Dr. Westendorf went out of his way to ensure the dogs were looked after and well cared for. He called us after hours to update us on lab results and came in on his day off to examine the dogs. He recognized the seriousness of the infection and properly referred us to Boundary Bay 24 hr Emergency Clinic in Langley. It's been nine weeks of healing and the dogs are back to almost 100%. I don't have much experience with animal hospitals, fortunately my cats and dog have always had good health. Very recently I discovered my dog of 11 years had aggressive and painful cancer. I had to put down the only dog I owned and loved dearly. The care we received from the staff at this hospital was everything I could have hoped for. The respect and dignity they showed for my dog and family made the process so much less painful. One never forgets an event like this, and I will always respect them for the support they gave. Awesome........Dr. Westendorf is hands down the best vet I have ever had. He even managed to do a surgery that the specialist hospital was not successful with. His cost was 5 times cheaper. He loves animals and it shows. Several of my cats were very much special needs and although they are all gone now, they owed years of their lives to Rick Westendorf. Please don't go here! Last year when our Malamute got sick we took him here based on reccemendations from friends. We had one friend who'd had a horrible experience yet we trusted the others and went anyways.I thought our guy had an a ear infection and when we got the vet it turned out he had a rash all over his body. Over the course of a week and many visits there we were reassured that it was just a condition in which the blood wasn't travelling through his veins very well and we're advised to spend more money on a monthly medication and again, we're reassured that it was nothing serious. Near the end of the first week he started getting very lethargic and began to refuse to eat or drink. I called back and said we needed to move forward with the next step because he was getting worse, not better and they scheduled be in for nearly a week later, even after knowing how much we'd spent with them that week and how sick our dog was. We woke up the next morning and his belly was swollen and he refused to even move. I called them back and they told me they couldn't fit us in. Another vet, Cedar Grove Animal Hospital could though so we took him there immediately, where he was diagnosed with cancer and put down the same day.When Eagle Road called to confirm the initial appointment I let the know that because he was so sick we took him elsewhere and we had to put him down that same day - her reply was to ask me where we went before offering condolences. Our dog would have passed away either way but had he been diagnosed correctly we would have been able to make sure he was comfortable and could have prepared our family.The whole entire experience with them was just horrible - the second vet we went to was amazing and as we laid on the floor crying while we put our dog down, he cried with us.
