I have had nothing but bad experiences with this hospital. First and foremost they are in it for the money not your pet. I ask them to write me a prescription for my dog's diabetes and all hell broke loose. Warning me that they will refuse all further help and not being aloud to enter their Hospital anymore and all this because they want to own the prescription for them to fill. Telling me that if i take it to another vet they might not want to fulfill it without doing further blood work when we already know he is diabetic and need insulin which he has been on for awhile now. So they know that i will have to pay out of pocket again to diagnose what he already has been diagnose for. Just another money grab as far as i can tell. They say i was acting angry and therefore now refuse further help for my animals at their hospital. Anyone out there experience the same thing? I am sadden that as an elder on a fix pension get treated this way. No compromise no discounts. How are we suppose to take care of our furry animals when the vets put greed before care.

Been going there for over 13 years since they’ve changed to VCA all they are about is money. Took a friend and his dog there as their website says first vet visit free for new clients but they charged him because he came to an appointment with me once with my dog and said they “knew him” and said he’s a previous client. He’s been there once with me and my dog but they claimed he’s been there several times which is a complete lie. I argued with them for quite some time but still made us pay and
Wouldn’t honor their false advertising on their webpage. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this scamming behavior from this vets office. It’s all about money with them.

Had a very bad experience this morning at this vet. I brought my dog in for a flushing of a wound that she’s had for several months she had been given antibiotics twice and the vet suggested a flushing. The wound did not get better or worse. As I couldn’t afford the flushing on that particular day. I made an appt for that specifically but in the meantime my dog is on antibiotics ok. So I arrive at flushing appt they take her in the back and 5 mins later bring her back to me saying the vet can’t do it because it’s closed over…. So a couple days later the wound reopens and I call to make appt with the same Dr. to have it flushed I arrive they take us into a room and tell me dr so and so will be in to see me when I asked about the dr that I booked with they said she was in surgery ok that’s but where she told she would be so she could do the flushing. Anyway a huge back and forth between me and the office girl who wanted to look at the wound again this would be the third time and hundreds of dollars later and wanting to charge me yet again for a check on the wound. This I felt was unreasonable as I’ve already paid for this twice before I came with enough money to pay for the flushing with the initial dr. The office girl was extremely rude even going as far as to tell me to go and borrow money if I was having a difficult time and she didn’t word it nicely at all. I’m a senior on pension and things can only be done month to month. I really do feel she made this all about money and not a care about my dog. It was too much for me so I left bewildered now I’ve got to start all over again with a different vet. I really tried my hardest to make it affordable and stick with the same dr at this vet. If they throw in another dr each one has their own opinion and I felt it would cost more and not benefit my dog. I have read a lot of terrible reviews of this vet I only wish I had done that before I went there.

I have read other reviews saying they are expensive but you can't put a value on life my Simba needed them they were there I would pay it again if I had/have too. So so amazing!!!! 🏅🏅⭐️💐🐾🐾💝. My mom called and got the runaround and hung up on all day she decided to call another clinic to fix island vets mess. We used to take our dogs and cat to them years ago. I have no idea how this vet recieved such a high rating!
This was the minimum payment for each visit + prescription for ring worm of a kitten. We spent 1200 on this cat, and were not given the correct info. Once we switched, we were finally informed correctly and the prescription was under 100$ at central drugs. These guys will RIP you off and charge you for things without asking AND neglect your animal.
For what we paid the cat should have had his vaccines covered, and been neutered.
The vet in departure bay is way more informed, communicative of their info.

Thank you to the doctor and staff you were not only very kind but compassionate when I had to have my 17 year old cat, Wiccan, put down after a sudden illness. They took him in right and I was with him till the end. The doctor was so considerate in explaining the procedure and allowing me to stay with him afterwards to grieve for him. I arrived for an appointment in the morning to have my two one year old cats spayed. This was my first time doing this as a pet parent, and I was extremely anxious! The wonderful staff at Island Vet Hospital were warm, friendly and put my mind at ease. The Doc was excellent at answering all of my questions, and after a very quick procedure the kitties were ready for pick up in the afternoon. They were content and now a few days later are purring away and healing beautifully. I fully recommend taking your pets to this Vet! Thank you!

everyone there is so kind, and go out of there way to make you and your pet feel welcomed, and comfortable, I have taken my pets here a couple times, ( cat and dog) but tonight ( feb 19/2018) i took my dog Sophia and they were so amazing and made sure she was comfy, and took great care of her while they examined her and found her illness, they made great recommendations, and really talked about solutions, to help improve Sophia’s health get better, and the front end girls were so great, I highly recommend this vets office, I always feel so so good after talking with them, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I called today to get a quote from my regular vet (Island Vet) to have my female dog spayed and they were very nice about it! They quoted $425 and the price only included the medicine for pain. I took the time to call another vet office in town (Petroglyph) and the quote from them was 260+tax ($165 difference and also the second quote included nail trimming, tattoo and pain medication). Very disappointing and definitely not the first time this happens. Last time I had to tell them I received a lower quote and then they adjusted theirs but ended up being more than what was quoted and the doctor could not care less (now we had to pay $500 extra as another intervention was necessary) and we were never told that would be the case. Great people there but watch your money as they will charge more than what other vet hospitals will. Very disappointing

Dr Langlier gave my cat HIV vaccine and I believe in turn gave him the virus and killed him. This Dr. pushed me to have my cat vaccinated with a series of 3 HIV prevenative shots. I didn't feel right about it however he said he advised it since my cat spent time out doors. This was al the hype in the 90's and early 2000 when I had this done. I have always hated Dr. Langlier since this because he took advantage of me and played on my fears for my cat. I asked if he could test my cat for HIV first and he said there was no way of testing and the only way to know if my cat had HIV was to vaccinate and if he reacted by becoming ill with growths than that would mean he had the virus. I was a lot younger at the time and honestly didn't feel good about this but thought I was doing what was best for my cat. Shortly after the vaccine my cat sylvestor became ill and it wasn't long after the 2nd shot that he was full of warts all over his body. I didn't get the final shot that Dr. Langlier suggested. My cat had to be put down at the young age of 8 yrs old. He really suffered and this Dr. didn't care at all in my opinion. Since then I have educated myself through another vet and have since learned that HIV vaccines for cats are unnecessary as it is literally not an inssue for out door cats. It has taken me years to post this. I believe he is a money hungry horrible man.

Day 2 came and they gave me a $50 discount on the previous bill. Are you actually kidding me? I had to give up my dog to the spca and was in debt for months. Everyone I tell says any other vet clinic can do better.
TL;DR: DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. FAMILY SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT!

Ignoring the fact that they do over-charge for nearly everything and every visit has a $75 charge for just seeing someone, they are pretty horrible. They over-vaccinate, they're disrespectful to owners once they have something to charge them for, and they misdiagnosed 2 pets I came in with on two separate occasions. Once was a lizard with ear mites (I told them what it was and they didn't listen. wouldn't say they were ear mites until the second visit), and the second they actually prescribed my cat flea guard to help with a worms problem (They also said it was the wrong type of worm at first, despite me telling them otherwise). They proceeded to charge me for the worm medication when I came back in, so I got to pay for both.
They give little regard to your pet's health and are less accurate then searching symptoms on google, apparently.

The worst vet in the city, was a client for years spent thousands and thousands of dollars with them then I found myself in a bind and not having all of the money for my dogs bowel obstruction and they turned me away they didn't care that my dog was literally vomiting blood clots and squirting blood out of its butt, it was literally on death store and they didn't care!! Didn't even entertain the idea of a payment plan or anything they were just going to let my dog die after I had been a client of theirs for years and never have I asked them to help me with a bill!! Will never go back to them again then I started a Facebook post about them and two days later got a registered letter saying that we were abusive to them and they will no longer be our vet not like I'd ever go back there. We ended up going to a vet who did work with us and is now paid in full two days later!!

I am very thankful to Dr. Large and ( technician? ) Catherine for their caring and thorough care for my beloved guinea pig Lena. I called in on a Sunday morning at 9am after I noticed blood in her urine the night before, and was able to see the doctor at 10:30 that same morning. After an honest assessment of Lena's health condition I decided to go ahead with bladder stone surgery. I was very worried and cautious about Lena's werlfare , but she did receive expert and compassionate care in a very timely fashion. My concerns were addressed in a thorough manner and no question felt "silly". Yes, it was expensive, but I did not feel at all pressured to choose surgery and to me, it was money well spent.

Well I can say....I trusted this vet with my best friends life...and he is living today because of their kindness and professional care. I love the people at this vet clinic as they saved what I cared about most in this world. Would I recommend this clinic? MOST DEFINITELY. Worth every penny. How much would you claim your pets life is worth?....and if you could put a price...please ask yourself...should you even have a pet? If you truly care about your pet. This is a very good clinic.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with this hospital. First and foremost they are in it for the money not your pet. I ask them to write me a prescription for my dog's diabetes and all hell broke loose. Warning me that they will refuse all further help and not being aloud to enter their Hospital anymore and all this because they want to own the prescription for them to fill. Telling me that if i take it to another vet they might not want to fulfill it without doing further blood work when we already know he is diabetic and need insulin which he has been on for awhile now. So they know that i will have to pay out of pocket again to diagnose what he already has been diagnose for. Just another money grab as far as i can tell. They say i was acting angry and therefore now refuse further help for my animals at their hospital. Anyone out there experience the same thing? I am sadden that as an elder on a fix pension get treated this way. No compromise no discounts. How are we suppose to take care of our furry animals when the vets put greed before care.

Been going there for over 13 years since they’ve changed to VCA all they are about is money. Took a friend and his dog there as their website says first vet visit free for new clients but they charged him because he came to an appointment with me once with my dog and said they “knew him” and said he’s a previous client. He’s been there once with me and my dog but they claimed he’s been there several times which is a complete lie. I argued with them for quite some time but still made us pay and
Wouldn’t honor their false advertising on their webpage. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this scamming behavior from this vets office. It’s all about money with them.

Had a very bad experience this morning at this vet. I brought my dog in for a flushing of a wound that she’s had for several months she had been given antibiotics twice and the vet suggested a flushing. The wound did not get better or worse. As I couldn’t afford the flushing on that particular day. I made an appt for that specifically but in the meantime my dog is on antibiotics ok. So I arrive at flushing appt they take her in the back and 5 mins later bring her back to me saying the vet can’t do it because it’s closed over…. So a couple days later the wound reopens and I call to make appt with the same Dr. to have it flushed I arrive they take us into a room and tell me dr so and so will be in to see me when I asked about the dr that I booked with they said she was in surgery ok that’s but where she told she would be so she could do the flushing. Anyway a huge back and forth between me and the office girl who wanted to look at the wound again this would be the third time and hundreds of dollars later and wanting to charge me yet again for a check on the wound. This I felt was unreasonable as I’ve already paid for this twice before I came with enough money to pay for the flushing with the initial dr. The office girl was extremely rude even going as far as to tell me to go and borrow money if I was having a difficult time and she didn’t word it nicely at all. I’m a senior on pension and things can only be done month to month. I really do feel she made this all about money and not a care about my dog. It was too much for me so I left bewildered now I’ve got to start all over again with a different vet. I really tried my hardest to make it affordable and stick with the same dr at this vet. If they throw in another dr each one has their own opinion and I felt it would cost more and not benefit my dog. I have read a lot of terrible reviews of this vet I only wish I had done that before I went there.

I have read other reviews saying they are expensive but you can't put a value on life my Simba needed them they were there I would pay it again if I had/have too. So so amazing!!!! 🏅🏅⭐️💐🐾🐾💝. My mom called and got the runaround and hung up on all day she decided to call another clinic to fix island vets mess. We used to take our dogs and cat to them years ago. I don’t know what happened but the quality and care is gone. DO NOT GO

I have no idea how this vet recieved such a high rating!
This was the minimum payment for each visit + prescription for ring worm of a kitten. We spent 1200 on this cat, and were not given the correct info. Once we switched, we were finally informed correctly and the prescription was under 100$ at central drugs. These guys will RIP you off and charge you for things without asking AND neglect your animal.
For what we paid the cat should have had his vaccines covered, and been neutered.
The vet in departure bay is way more informed, communicative of their info.

Thank you to the doctor and staff you were not only very kind but compassionate when I had to have my 17 year old cat, Wiccan, put down after a sudden illness. They took him in right and I was with him till the end. The doctor was so considerate in explaining the procedure and allowing me to stay with him afterwards to grieve for him. I would recommend this veterinary to everyone. Thank you again.

The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I took my cat there for years and when I had to put her down at 18 years old, they were so considerate and compassionate. They even sent me a sympathy card afterwards. I am lucky enough to have been able to adopt a 5 year old cat from the SPCA and there was no doubt in my mind that I would be taking her to Island Vet for her check ups, etc.

I arrived for an appointment in the morning to have my two one year old cats spayed. This was my first time doing this as a pet parent, and I was extremely anxious! The wonderful staff at Island Vet Hospital were warm, friendly and put my mind at ease. The Doc was excellent at answering all of my questions, and after a very quick procedure the kitties were ready for pick up in the afternoon. They were content and now a few days later are purring away and healing beautifully. I fully recommend taking your pets to this Vet! Thank you!

everyone there is so kind, and go out of there way to make you and your pet feel welcomed, and comfortable, I have taken my pets here a couple times, ( cat and dog) but tonight ( feb 19/2018) i took my dog Sophia and they were so amazing and made sure she was comfy, and took great care of her while they examined her and found her illness, they made great recommendations, and really talked about solutions, to help improve Sophia’s health get better, and the front end girls were so great, I highly recommend this vets office, I always feel so so good after talking with them, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I called today to get a quote from my regular vet (Island Vet) to have my female dog spayed and they were very nice about it! They quoted $425 and the price only included the medicine for pain. I took the time to call another vet office in town (Petroglyph) and the quote from them was 260+tax ($165 difference and also the second quote included nail trimming, tattoo and pain medication). Very disappointing and definitely not the first time this happens. Last time I had to tell them I received a lower quote and then they adjusted theirs but ended up being more than what was quoted and the doctor could not care less (now we had to pay $500 extra as another intervention was necessary) and we were never told that would be the case. Great people there but watch your money as they will charge more than what other vet hospitals will. Very disappointing

Dr Langlier gave my cat HIV vaccine and I believe in turn gave him the virus and killed him. This Dr. pushed me to have my cat vaccinated with a series of 3 HIV prevenative shots. I didn't feel right about it however he said he advised it since my cat spent time out doors. This was al the hype in the 90's and early 2000 when I had this done. I have always hated Dr. Langlier since this because he took advantage of me and played on my fears for my cat. I asked if he could test my cat for HIV first and he said there was no way of testing and the only way to know if my cat had HIV was to vaccinate and if he reacted by becoming ill with growths than that would mean he had the virus. I was a lot younger at the time and honestly didn't feel good about this but thought I was doing what was best for my cat. Shortly after the vaccine my cat sylvestor became ill and it wasn't long after the 2nd shot that he was full of warts all over his body. I didn't get the final shot that Dr. Langlier suggested. My cat had to be put down at the young age of 8 yrs old. He really suffered and this Dr. didn't care at all in my opinion. Since then I have educated myself through another vet and have since learned that HIV vaccines for cats are unnecessary as it is literally not an inssue for out door cats. It has taken me years to post this. I believe he is a money hungry horrible man.

I was overcharged for a simple x-ray and due to misinformation I was locked into a $1200 loan I was told for the whole procedure when they handed me the bill. That was day 1'w bill. Day 2 came and they gave me a $50 discount on the previous bill. Are you actually kidding me? I had to give up my dog to the spca and was in debt for months. Everyone I tell says any other vet clinic can do better.
TL;DR: DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. FAMILY SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT!

Ignoring the fact that they do over-charge for nearly everything and every visit has a $75 charge for just seeing someone, they are pretty horrible. They over-vaccinate, they're disrespectful to owners once they have something to charge them for, and they misdiagnosed 2 pets I came in with on two separate occasions. Once was a lizard with ear mites (I told them what it was and they didn't listen. wouldn't say they were ear mites until the second visit), and the second they actually prescribed my cat flea guard to help with a worms problem (They also said it was the wrong type of worm at first, despite me telling them otherwise). They proceeded to charge me for the worm medication when I came back in, so I got to pay for both.
They give little regard to your pet's health and are less accurate then searching symptoms on google, apparently.

She have him something for a lung infection and let me go (medication was $60.00) well my ferret has heart failure and has 8 monthes to live but the couldnt figure that out . when i tokd them he had heart failure they wanted me to pay another 770 dolkars for another xray... Both times we've been in with our cat, and a couple other times getting food, I have waited over 15 minutes to pay. I understand that the animals come first but perhaps they need more help at the desk.

The worst vet in the city, was a client for years spent thousands and thousands of dollars with them then I found myself in a bind and not having all of the money for my dogs bowel obstruction and they turned me away they didn't care that my dog was literally vomiting blood clots and squirting blood out of its butt, it was literally on death store and they didn't care!! Didn't even entertain the idea of a payment plan or anything they were just going to let my dog die after I had been a client of theirs for years and never have I asked them to help me with a bill!! Will never go back to them again then I started a Facebook post about them and two days later got a registered letter saying that we were abusive to them and they will no longer be our vet not like I'd ever go back there. We ended up going to a vet who did work with us and is now paid in full two days later!!

I am very thankful to Dr. Large and ( technician? ) Catherine for their caring and thorough care for my beloved guinea pig Lena. I called in on a Sunday morning at 9am after I noticed blood in her urine the night before, and was able to see the doctor at 10:30 that same morning. After an honest assessment of Lena's health condition I decided to go ahead with bladder stone surgery. I was very worried and cautious about Lena's werlfare , but she did receive expert and compassionate care in a very timely fashion. My concerns were addressed in a thorough manner and no question felt "silly". Yes, it was expensive, but I did not feel at all pressured to choose surgery and to me, it was money well spent.

Well I can say....I trusted this vet with my best friends life...and he is living today because of their kindness and professional care. I love the people at this vet clinic as they saved what I cared about most in this world. Would I recommend this clinic? MOST DEFINITELY. Worth every penny. How much would you claim your pets life is worth?....and if you could put a price...please ask yourself...should you even have a pet? If you truly care about your pet. This is a very good clinic.
