My dog was sick a lot towards the end of his life. He suffered from countless issues. From glaucoma to respiratory to heart issues. They told us not to euthanize. They sold us on expensive medication and told us based on blood work he had done not a week from when I write this that he is doing better. The medication is working they claimed. My dog got acute heart failure over night. I stayed up with him, took him out, tried to put him in a more comfortable position to be able to breathe... Nothing helped. The vet told me oxygen was not getting to his vital tissues. I just signed the euthanasia consent form (at another place). Suffering is suffering. People who drag out the suffering of any sentient being for profit do not deserve to be in business. Please do not patronize this facility. They extended the suffering of my dog. I don't want them to do it to yours. Read Less

Took my Teacup Yorkie in to see Dr Yazli this afternoon. She needed her Rabies booster (I take her to the States). Dr Yazli immediately showed compassion and fell in love with my baby. She has other issues, so Dr Yazli kept her there for observations while I went for dinner with my mother. He filled a prescription I already had, and prescribed some antihistamines for her allergies. When I came back to pick her up she was happy to see me, but also kept giving Dr Yazli kisses. It is obvious that he became a vet because of his love and compassion for animals.  Thank you Dr Yazli! Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience with this vet clinic. Our senior chihuahua cross panicked during a fire alarm and escaped our condo a few blocks away. Despite my husband running after him, he slipped out of sight and our beloved pup was brushed by a car. A kind bystander scooped him up and ran him to Atlas as he knew it was the nearest clinic. The clinic staff, despite our dog being clearly injured, with trauma to his face, etc., refused to treat him because the man admitting him was not the owner. We caught up about ten minutes after this, and were told that he had been taken to another nearby vet clinic. I am happy to report that our pup eventually made a full recovery thanks to the kindness and compassion we were shown at the other vet clinic, but NO thanks to Atlas. We were appalled that they would not assist an animal that was clearly injured and needed emergency care. I would NOT recommend this vet to anyone. Read Less

We had to get my hamster euthanized do to heart failure, and we called in the vet to see the price. They said it was $60 for a normal euthanization, and another $50 extra for cremation, no problem and that is not that expensive compared to others. So it turns out we called a different place because when we got there they said they did not receive the call. Fine, not a big deal, but it turns out that they do euthanize hamsters, for a very ridiculous price! $250 spent on just a small euthanization+ cremation. I'm pretty sure they made it up on the spot because they knew we went to the wrong place and knew we wouldn't want to drive to another vet. The vet was decent, but I'm pretty sure we got scammed. It's sad because all these vet's #1 priority is money. Read Less

Hands down the WORST veterinary clinic in BC. If I could rate this 0 stars I really would! There is one doctor on staff for hamsters and he has NO care in the world for animal life and no professionalism. I took my hamster there for an examination last night around 6:30pm because she had a lump growing on her pelvic area and was losing patches of hair. Of course this isn't normal so I decided to go get her checked out. Upon arriving, I had to wait about an hour and a half because there is only one doctor on staff and he was doing another surgery. When he finally got around to seeing my hamster, he first of all, handled her so roughly although she was in pain, using a napkin to pick her up by the neck to see what was wrong and nearly squishing her as she's screaming. Then he goes on to tell me that they don't perform blood tests, x rays, scans NOTHING to see what's wrong but assumed it was a tumor based on the size and that she needed surgery to have it removed, charging me for the surgery, anesthetic and meds. Wanting to see her out of the pain she was in so badly, I decided to trust his judgement being that he was the professional. He REFUSED to perform it last night after giving me the option to leave her and come back, telling me today that he wasn't going to have time although it is a 24 hour clinic. So I brought her back this afternoon like he suggested and about an hour and a half into surgery, he calls to tell me that she's opened up on the table dying because it's attached to the intestines and he took everything out without consulting me about what was even going on with her. I asked him if she was closed and if he could try to wake her and he tells me no she's still opened up and dying although he put her sleep with the anesthetic, and I can come down so he could better explain. When I get there, He has everything sewn up including a part of her tail and her body dumped in a box as if she was a piece of trash. The NEGLIGENCE of this clinic sickens me to my stomach to know there are doctors running a practice like this with no remorse and no heart for animals. This would've never happened if the necessary precautions were taken. No medical report was given, no exams or scans were done, he could not even tell me what kind of cancer it was or if it was benign or malignant. This doctor, Naresh Patyal, should not be practicing!! I went to Atlas for dental cleaning for my dog. He is  a 10 pound Chihuahua .  Before sedating  him they determined that he had a grade for heart murmur, a collapsed trachea, an enlarged heart and had a cough ( reverse sneezing in  Chihuahuas is very common). When the doctor called to tell me obviously this was very shocking news because heart murmurs can be very serious and an indicator of heart disease. Instead of gently delivering this news to me they went on to tell me all the tests that were required. I was obviously upset and the doctor told me I needed to be polite to him because he was my doctor. I explained that I'm also the customer and giving them a ton of money. He said I'm not getting the money the clinic is.  I Found this really rude and unprofessional. After $600 in x-rays &  bloodwork, everything came back completely normal. Now three days later my dogs entire chest is covered in a purple bruise and all they had to say was sorry. Read Less

Earlier today a young seagull was hit by a car in the next lane a couple blocks away from Atlas.  She was not run over but hit the front of their car and was badly injured...  My husband and I pulled over, bundled her in a blanket and took her to Atlas as they were just a short distance away and we didn't know what else to do or where to go.  When we arrived we said we knew that she was very badly hurt and probably wouldn't make it but we simply didn't want her to suffer and we didn't know what to do.  They didn't offer any advice, tell us where we could take her or see her...  They simply started telling us they couldn't touch her and listing off all of the expenses they would incur by doing so. I would have gladly paid for them to put her down humanely and end her suffering as it is the right thing to do...  Except they refused to even look at her to tell us if she was still in shock or if she had already passed.  I understand that things are different for wildlife, but I am truly stunned at the lack of empathy and compassion showed at Atlas.  This experience speaks volumes about the kind of people here and the type of business this is. This is hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a vets office. I have a cat that is incredibly happy, but get very anxious and stressed if she is anywhere but home. Not only did the vet not introduce himself and actually try to relax my animal, like other vets, but he asked me what vaccines I wanted to give her. Really? What do I want to give her? Would much rather have gone to someone with the professionalism to recommend what is necessary to keep my animal in optimal health for years to come. Not only this, but considering this was my FIRST visit to this clinic, it didn't appear the vet cared about the wellness of my pet at all. She is a rescue and comes from a home that didn't give her proper care and as a result of her diet, she is missing two large canine teeth. Without even looking at other records, he took a quick look in her mouth and didn't even say a word about her dental health. Will NEVER return to this clinic - take your pet and run! If I could give this place no stars, I would. Read Less

My boyfriend and I had just adopted an 8 week old kitten and needed to make sure they were all healthy and happy. We decided to visit atlas animal hospital. The staff seemed friendly enough and we were confident in our choice. Once in the exam room however the Dr. Seemed very aggressive and rough towards our 8 week old baby. He confirmed it was a "girl" and man handled "her". there was no sense of ease for our little one. It wasnt until he gave "her" a pill that i was completely appalled by the way he handled "her". He grabbed her head hard enough for the 2nd eyelid to be covering her eye with her eyelid pulled open and back, not to mention trying to force a small syringe of water into her mouth while hes clamping her jaws shut. The whole process was painful to watch. Not to mention the Dr is a complete idiot. Thankfully the whole experience was horrible we searched for another vet clinic "All about cats veterinary clinic" where they informed us the our "she" was actually a He. They also regrettably informed us that our kitten had fleas and potential ear mites which the Drs at Atlas failed to inform us about. I would never recomment Atlas so anyone! Read Less

Literally the WORST vet ever!!! I cannot stress that enough. Let's start with the fact that I get a call from the Dr. stating that my 8lb pom has some cuts on her arm ( these cuts are from where he scratched her skin off trying to place the IV in.) I asked him if "she was bad" figuring that is a fairly simple questions for a "Dr." to answer, apparently not, his response was " I cannot answer that I do not know what your dogs emotions are" at this point I'm extremely worried/ becoming increasingly frustrated at this mans inability to explain the current state of my dog. When I arrive I'm greeted by a young girl who is very excited to tell me how cute my dog is and that she was such a good girl. I ask, good girl? she says ya I had her up here on the counter with me the whole time before she went into surgery. As you can imagine I'm shocked at how incredibly unprofessional these people are. I ask for my dog to be brought out. I look at my sleepy little girl barely awake from surgery when I notice her front leg literally bleeding from where this hack of a vet tore her flesh off. I paid, I left and I will never go back. Maybe their not bad people, but lets put it this way THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR DOG. AT ATLAS ANIMAL HOSPITAL ON MARINE DRIVE IT IS QUANTITY VS. QUALITY. Save your animals the agony take your pets to a real Animal Hospital not a Butcher shop.

Read Less
