All the vets I’ve dealt w. at Shaughnessy vet are very friendly, gentle & kind to our 3 animals & us owners. They are considerate when it comes to billing on regular checkups/visits for meds. But I’ve found they like to push for the extras (such as expensive dental work on an 18yr old feline-doesn’t make much sense-if no pain, etc). One upset.. they tested, found kidney issues, didn’t offer to put on meds until 1 yr later once showing symptoms. Passed w. in a week. The staff is consistently caring and kind, and make you feel welcome and valued. I have never had a bad experience, and I recommend them to all my friends and family who have pets. my dog was getting his hair cut next door to Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital my dog had a panic attack passed out lucky the girl who was giving him a hair cut new cpr rushed him to Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital and my god they helped him brought him back took care of him and called me ever so often to tell me whats going on before that i rushed right over there they never denying to see my dogg they didn't say u cant see him they where amzeinggggggg staff and all the doctors there im happy i can call Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital a place also i can bring my dog when my regular vet is away i'm very comfortable in knowing hes in good hands when i bring him there a+ in my eyes Read Less

Customer service is good however there is lack of communication. I brought in my daughter's puppy Kooper to be spayed and they went over the procedure and cost of it and left. Within the hour I got a call saying that her blood cell count is low and that we will have to postpone which is fine. When I came in to pick her up I was charge $198 for an examination bill that I was not aware of. I have no problem paying for service but I should have been notified of this before hand. This experience has left a bad impression of the Clinic. How would you feel if this happened to you? Read Less

They are an amazing place to take your pets. Regardless of your first time or your 50th time here they treat you like family from day 1 and you feel so comfortable leaving your pets in their care. They make having a pet and bringing them to the vet that much easier. My family and i recently had to put our 15year old dog down and the love and support they gave my family and i through that extremely hard time was amazing. We have been with Shaughnessy Vets for less than a year but have taken our cats in twice so far, both times to see Dr. Jocelyn. Our experience with all the staff at Shaughnessy Vets were great, they were all very friendly, helpful and clearly love animals. Specifically, I really have to say I felt Dr. Jocelyn went above and beyond to take care of us. We recently went in to have our new kitten neutered and when I went to pick-up the little guy, Dr. Jocelyn was on her way out. I imagine she was probably exhausted, taking care of animals and their humans all day require so much energy and patience. Instead of just saying bye, which would have been perfectly fine, she stopped and personally reviewed the procedure and filled me in on our kitten's status. I felt that she not only cared about our cat, she cared about the crazy cat lady (me) too. If you are looking for a vet for your furbabies, I would highly recommend Shaughnessy Vets. Read Less

Dr. Montgomery and all the wonderful staff at Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital are our stars, our angels. Our dear Domingo (our cat/son), went to be with the Lord almost a month ago but for 18 years, they all took care of him, helped us keep him healthy and strong. Domingo was loved by the Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital staff, and he loved them back. When the difficult time came to say our last good bye to Domingo, the staff at Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital where there for us all the way. We felt supported, loved and also that we were a part of their family. Dr. Montgomery is an exceptional person and an outstanding veterinarian. She helped us with Domingo since day one and it is because of her vast knowledge, professionalism, and care that Domingo had such a great life. The staff at the vet clinic are the best! Leanne in particular who always called our cat "Senor Domingo", she is so kind and warm- a rock star! Everyone at the clinic always made us feel at home, loved and welcome. We just moved to BC and woke up one morning to discover our cat had eaten part of a string toy. In a panic I started looking up clinics in the area and found Shaughnessy Vet Hospital. They had an opening right away and took excellent care of my Benny. Dr. Montgomery had a wonderful 'bedside' manner and gentle touch. I could tell she loves her work. The rest of the staff were also wonderful, attentive, and efficient. I felt like my cat was in good hands, and he was. Took my little baby girl (Boston Terrier) in for her first check up. Staff was great, doctor was great, everybody is so friendly. Appointment was on time, hospital was clean. Took my cat in this morning to get him neutered. I was greeted by a friendly woman who promptly and kindly asked if I was for my cats appointment which she then immediately asked us to follow her and lead us into a clean well equipped room. Within minutes a friendly vet came in and she then asked varying questions about previous health, any worries/concerns etc. She was both gentle and loving to my cat while maintaining professionalism. The only cons is I had made my appointment for only neutering as he has had his first shots already and is strictly an indoor cat, but she was quite nudging towards 90$ blood work, 120$ micro chip along with other costs and expenses. I don't have the money to get all the work done at one time, however she was very understanding and didn't make me feel bad about the situation assuring me it's recommended and why, but it's not needed asap.Read Less

The girls got me in right away, and Dr. Leah managed to check my dog out while calming me at the same time. Shaugnessy vet is the ONLY place we will ever take our dogs! We have been taking our 2 dogs here for 5 years and they have had everything from routine checkups to surgeries and we have never had a negative experience. The staff here is amazing! Dr. Montgomery is so thorough and patient and takes the time to make our animals feel comfortable before examining them. She truly cares about the animals she treats and has never once pushed us to chose a procedure that we weren't comfortable with. She gives honest advice that is in the best interest of your pet and is not like most vets who are just out to take all your money! The office staff are incredible as well. They are very knowledgeable and will call to follow up with you to see how your pets are doing after they leave the office which is just amazing.
