WARNING!! WORST VET EXPERIENCE EVER!I used to go here and had excellent, PAINLESS procedures done for my dog with Dr. Dear. However, I had not realized that he is no longer here and there are now two other vets here. However, it was an emergency as my dog's anal glands ruptured (again) and he needed attention straight away. Now, I admit I'm a pretty emotional and sensitive person, especially when it comes to my dog, so I was devastated when I found out my dog would have to spend a night at the clinic. His docile self in a small cage, in pain, bums me out. However, I was told it was necessary so for the well-being of my dog, I obliged, also hoping that they weren't taking advantage of my hysterical state and charge me an arm and a leg for a procedure that my dog has had in the past. However, to their credit, the vets here SEEM nice and sure, maybe they're "nice" people outside of their vet coats but nice people don't make good, knowledgeable vets. Nice, comforting words only work and mean something when your dog gets better because he was in good care, but this was NOT meant to be the case. I get a call and was told that the other anal gland has now ruptured, which is super bizarre (now that I reflect on this terrible experience) because the procedure involves flushing out his gland and stitching him back up. When I got him back the next day, he only had ONE set of stitches. I was told that I would get a discount as well since he now has two ruptured glands and not just one (lucky me), but imagine my surprise when my bill states that they're charging me about $680 for ONE anal gland. What happened to the OTHER anal gland that "ruptured"?! Can anal glands just rupture one moment and UN-RUPTURE the next? My dog has had this exact surgery in the past and the vet before had charged $700 for two ruptured anal glands. You can see my confusion when I don't understand how a "discount" is $680 for one gland. Cost isn't even a big deal when you're talking about your furry children. The worse thing was that my dog was still leaking poop everywhere and was constantly crying, in a lot of pain. I talked to the nice receptionist on the phone, and I overheard them saying that my dog didn't get the anal tube thing. Gee, an anal tube thing sure would've been helpful while I was cleaning his a-hole in the bathtub sliding around in his crap while he's squirming to get away from me. My poor friend was a trooper and pretty much smelled crap for 10 minutes, holding my yelping, crying dog.I bring him in the next day and they concluded that he now has an infection and that he would need IV fluids. My vet friend (who is unfortunately too far for me to bring my dog to) suspected that the initial procedure was botched and this resulted in an infection. This is why my dog went through unnecessary pain. I ask for pain meds and they were adamant that my dog didn't need it. However, I did some further research later on and the vet experts I spoke with said that it would be BARBARIC not to give the dog pain meds during this procedure, as it's very painful. GIVE MY DOGS HIS PAIN MEDS, YOU ANIMALS!The acquaintance that recommended these vets is a friend of one of the vet's daughter. She followed up with me later on and asked enthusiastically how my experience was so I purposely told her that my vet bill was the ludicrous amount of $2000 and she had the audacity to tell me that it was a GREAT price. She is moronic and obviously doesn't know what she's talking about - I actually paid about half of what I told her and this was still very expensive - so maybe she was getting kickbacks for raving about this terrible clinic. When I went through the bill that I was charged with some other vets and my brother who is working with a vet at the clinic, they all agreed that these vets at Terra Nova Village were taking me for a ride. They all also asked why he wasn't given the pain meds.My dog is still slowly recovering and I am following up with my vet friend who is flying in from kelowna for the weekend. My heart breaks for my dog who went through all this pain because the vets here do NOT know what they're doing, and keep you in the dark while they're fixing mistakes that they've made on YOUR expense. If you love your pet, do not come to this clinic! They are, by far, the WORSE, veterinarians I have ever had the displeasure to meet and deal with. Read Less
