we had to put our little kitty down, and the staff and doctors were compassionate, and helpful. they even cried with us, so it must take a lot out of the doctors and staff, as we only had to put one pet down, and they do this day in and day out... So to see the compassion to the point of tears was so comforting. I was unable to write till now as the death of my cat was so heartbreaking, however I just want to thank the doctors and staff that sent sharpie (sharp tooth) to kitty heaven. You went above and beyond, thank you, and take care of yourselves. It must be tough to feel the loss for all of us pet owners, and I for one really appreciate you all for your compassion. I love this place. They are thorough and explain things very well. They even took the trouble to send me an exhaustive email when I was abroad and had problems with my cat. Fabulous place. In the past they literally saved my pet. The only negative point is the price. Some times ago the doctor euthanized my sick rat in the most compassionate way. Another hospital on Salt Spring euthanized the other sick one a year later, unfortunately, many female rats get tumors, and it was traumatizing for life. I am still haunted with the rat trying to hold on to me while she stuck a needle in its heart and it squeked, it was sickening, she said hurry up, end its suffering, it was just sick. This clinic stayed in my memory as a safe place if you need a procedure like that. They were patient and compassionate. Read Less

Sechelt Animal Hospital is top notch veterinary care. They care deeply for each pet and want what is best for them. Dr Carroll keeps the clinic up to date with cutting edge procedures such as the TTA. Two of my dogs have had both knees repaired by Dr Carroll. Both dogs now can run freely and enjoy pain free life again. Best vet hospital on the sunshine coast! It's nice to see such a progressive hospital, especially in a small and isolated peninsula. While I've been here a lot for preventive care it's the times I've had to bring in emergencies that will stick with me forever. I took my dog there several months ago for a second opinion as my current vet had diagnosed his leg tremors as being caused by hip dysplasia. After months of treating him with laser therapy and cartrophen injections, his condition seemed to be worsening. Within minutes of examining my dog, Dr. Carroll diagnosed him as having a torn ligament in his knee. After surgery, he has now regained muscle mass in his leg, which no longer trembles, and looks forward to going for walks again. Unfortunately, my collie Angus has had an extremely bad run of luck over the last year, run over by a drunk-driver, extensive injuries to his paw and back which required several surgeries and then recently a bone infection which required the amputation of one of his toes, but fortunately for Angus and for me, Dr. Heather James chose to be a veterinarian. I cannot thank her adequately for the loving care she has given Angus throughout his frequent visits to SAH, it's always stressful when visiting the hospital, but I never doubt that Dr. James has my dog's best interests at heart! We were vacationing in Roberts Creek, when (after much beach-combing and swimming) our Labradoodle puppy mysteriously developed a very sore paw. We waited a day, then called the Animal Hospital the next morning at 9am and were in an examination room by 10am. Veterinarian, Heather James and student intern, Felix, spent a good half hour with us, really listening to our description of Banda's past days, while giving him a thorough once-over inspection, which included a walk outside to assess his gait on different surfaces. Our regular vet in Vancouver has us spoiled for excellent care, but if we ever need to see a vet here on the Sunshine Coast again, I can assure you it will be the Sechelt Animal Hospital - I'd recommend them to anyone.
