This post is about two cats and took place over a 10-day period. The cats were, one of the died, siamese indoor only cats and sisters. These cats were taken care of like the treasures they are. The first cat, Azul was taken to the vet because of lethargy and blindness, we asked that blood work be done and the vet recommended an x-ray which we agreed to. The vet did not advise that the bloodwork would be incomplete because they did not have the thyroid kit, an obvious miss given both symptoms. The blood work cam back very high on liver function and the x-ray showed a possibly enlarged kidney. The vet was not remotely specific and said he "thought" she had a tumor and there was no viable treatment. We then took the vet to All About Cats for a second opinion and was referred to an ultrasound, which determined that there was no tumor and the blood work indicated hypertension cased by a thyroid anomaly. She is now, after weeks of delay being correctly treated and we hope our beautiful Azul survives. Azul's sister Terra was taken on Friday following Azul's visit for dental cleaning and tooth extraction before we had all the details of the incompetence surrounding Azul's diagnosis. Terra died the next day, late that night of a presumed heart attack. It was not swift and not merciful. I called the vet while she was still she was still alive and he said he could do nothing, would not see her, "let her die at home". We discovered after the fact that it is normal procedure to check the cat for underlying conditions because at that age they "can die of heart attack" after the stress of anesthetic. As far as I am concerned this vet killed one of our beloved cats and may have cause irreparable harm to the other. The vet had no issue with collecting $1,400.00 in fees for his incompetence. I called Eagleview vet in town when my cat was extremely sick. They told me she may have an abdominal obstruction and might need emergency surgery. Right away I said okay let's do it and they told me "oh maybe give another vet a call." Like..what do you mean? You just told me my cat may be dying but you aren't willing to help her?! So I called alpenlofts and not only did he answer RIGHT away but he told me to meet him at the clinic right away. He saved my cats life. And the bill was extremely fair priced considering it was an emergency weekend call and she had to stay over night as well. I will never take my pets anywhere but Alpenlofts. Read Less

VERY impressed with Dr Grewal indeed. A while ago on a Sunday I was worried about my pet and he was the only vet to not only answer the telephone but also give good sound advice without insisting on an emergency call out (unlike others would for sure!) My next encounter with him was when I returned home last Thursday and suspected my cat had a UTI. Unfortunately, it was already after 6pm and all vets in Squamish had closed for the day. I rang, expecting a typical pre-recorded message and I was so relieved that he again answered right away and promptly returned to Alpenlofts so I could bring her in. The exam was thorough, he listened carefully to my description of symptoms and I left with antibiotics and confident with his diagnosis. I am a new customer yet he did not insist of a bunch of unnecessary tests nor did he add on any of the extra costs he could have very legitimately charged me that evening. My cat is doing great and even eating the flavoured antibiotics as she would do a treat. I highly recommend this honest, calm and ethical vet thank you! Read Less
