absolutely terrible place. this "Vet", shouldn't even be allowed near animals. my dog has never been scared to go to the vet until going here, the dr was rough and not an ounce of care or compassion towards animal. my dog was shivering the entire time. I absolutely love the staff and doctor here. Dr. Punia is an excellent and very experienced doctor. Some of the assistant girls have been working there with him for years and years and they are very hard working , people should not judge them by one or two appointments and or visits. People also need to know that owning a pet is a luxury and it takes some money to take care of them since they don't have the free health care we human beings have. If you truly cannot afford to take care of your pet Do Not Own one. Veterinarians are not a charity they also have a business to run, expenses to pay for the business/the staff/the hydro/the rent/the merchandises, food bags and everything inside the clinic like X-ray machines and in house blood Machines that tests our pets health! Over top of their very own mortgage and their own family to feed. This vet is very honest and does everything properly and by the book. He does not charge for unnecessary things. This clinic is by far the most reasonable in price. I know because I have gone to other clinics and have come right back! It is after all quality over quantity. Read Less

Do not take your pet here! We recently moved to BC and with this clinic being close to our house, I decided to go her for our pets annual vaccinations and a prescription refill. Although my pet has been taking this prescription for over a year, and I have done all due diligence regarding the medication (blood tests) with my previous vet, this doctor refused to refill my prescription without taking his recommended liver panel and blood test (an extra $200). I explained the situation to him, being that A) My pet has been taking this medication for over a year. B) my pet was prescribed an extremely low dosage in relation to his weight. C) The previous blood work that we had done showed no issues. He prescribed a measly 1 month supply and said that he would prescribe the standard 6 months AFTER I get the extra tests done with him. I will be looking for a new vet. Do not take your pet here! Im not questioning this mans credentials or abilities as a veterinarian but I promise, you WILL end up spending more than you need to. THIS DOCTOR IS MORE FOCUSED ON EMPTYING YOUR WALLET THAN THE WELLBEING OF YOUR PET. Please, avoid this place at all costs. Read Less

They try to over charge you on everything. The doctor argues with you (very unprofessional)! Go to Avon animal hospital if you want good loving care that comes with free 3 month pet insurance. And they are professional polite and worth the drive. The only thing I will give Atlantic animal hospital is they have a good receptionist that's how they got even one star from me Read Less

I spent thousands of dollars at multiple vets getting taken advantage of trying to heal my dog of some unknown condition, Dr. Punia is the only vet that actually found a solution to the problem and saved me money during the process. Turns out my dog has severe allergies, and all the other vets kept adding conditions that lead to unnecessary charges making it impossible for me to afford my dogs care. Dr. Punia found ways to make it affordable for me and the staff have always treated my pets and I like family. My dog loves coming to this vet.Read Less

I have three dogs that go there. Dr. Punia got my lester through a bout of pancreatitis and I could tell that after spending a week with the staff there he loved it there and then my other dog had a bad bacterial infection and again she pulled through because she was treated with the appropriate antibiotic...as a healthcare professional I can tell this vet knows what he's doing and when he doesn't he seeks speciality consultation. I have yet to find a perfect vet, but have taken two generations of our dogs to Dr. Punia and he has cared for them in a gentle and kind manner.  Yes, he he is fairly quiet,,, he is concentrating on the animal and will answer your questions when he's done. Sometimes he can seem evasive, but if you are observant you can see he's thinking about something... usually a solution or what to do next.  If you say you need him to explain everything to you, be clear with him about this and he will. I have no problem understanding his English.  We have been given discounts on some services that he does.  I first went to him as although I was cleaning my dog's ears, he was constantly shaking his head.  He took over an hour to show me how to clean his ears as I wasn't going deep enough. As my dog swam in the river, he had a lot of debris in his ears...my dog wasn't used to this and put up a fuss, but he talked to him in a soft voice and he calmed down.  When I asked how much the bill was, he didn't charge me anything.I think he cares very deeply for the animals in his care as when we had to have our first generation of dogs put down, he cried along with us and it wasn't phoney in any way...tears pouring down his cheeks and he said, "This never gets any easier."   He had a favourite of the three and just before he put him down, he said, "I've always loved this guy."  I knew that as he asked if I would consider putting him for adoption and of course I couldn't.  He was sobbing as much as we were and the girl from reception was hiding in an exam room crying her eyes out and I said she should come out as we were all crying.  Uncaring?... he has never been that way to our dogs.We now have two Bullmastiffs and a few years ago, when one of them was just a puppy he needed a complicated emergency surgery.  Afterwards, out of curiosity, I  called a few other vets to check prices and found we were charged much less than  other vets would have.  More than half less than it was at one place that I first took the dogs to, but wasn't happy with.  During the surgery a specialist had to be called in and the bill didn't go up because of this... he provided  good aftercare as well.Then just recently our older boy had some kidney problems and had to stay there for a week.  We visited him often and when he was on the mend, I arrived to find he had gone for a walk with one of the girls at reception. They did this a couple of times each day for all animals that were almost better.  There was no charge for this either.The premises are very clean and I would not take my beloved Babies to him if I didn't think they were getting the right care.The negatives are that sometimes there is a wait, that he isn't loud and pushy (if that's a negative) and he can't always be located.  He's a little slow with getting meds ready, but constantly rechecks books to make sure our Boys are getting the best possible meds. He does usually need a little push to remind him that you want answers.  He's often said that before he does some tests he doesn't always have an answer... l guess this is true if you think about it.  His reception isn't always the most efficient, but some of the girls are very good.If you check around for basic services, I believe you'll find he is less expensive with most and much less for other things.  We all have bad days and I'm sure Vets do as well.  As for unnecessary tests, I think we have to remember they are dealing with a patient who can't tell them what's wrong and in my experience all Vets seem to order a lot of tests as there is no other way for them to find the problem.As for those of you that had a different experience...I'm sorry you had to go through that. Do not take your pet here especially if they are ill. The doctor was insensitive towards my dogs and us owners. He is clearly just after the money (as stated on other reviews). For every examination I've seen him, he showed no interest in helping our pet get better. He will always suggest operations and medication without any explanation of what's going on. He has no interest to help you understand what's going on with your pet but to convince you to have all these treatment done. He will talk back, be sarcastic when you start asking questions. The vet is always on call, he has no purpose at the clinic because no one is bringing their pet to him. Read Less

The worst place you could bring any animal to. They don't care about your pet, they care about the money they can scam off of you. They do unnecessary and costly testings that hurt your pet, just to bring you back later to make more money. I brought my dog here for a lump growing on her chest, and they put two needles in it (causing her extreme pain), just to come up with no conclusion of what it was. Then they tried to sell me antibiotics and inflammatories for it, and said surgery would be the last option. Then I brought my dog to other vets, and they all said the same thing: it's a tumor, it has to be surgically removed, and my pet will have to take the same two types of medication after anyway. This vet is horrible, they don't care about the pain or feelings of your pet, they honestly just want to try and rake in as much money as they can from you. After seeing a story about this clinic on the news (saved a dog after a pit bull attack) we decided to give them a try as they are close to where we live and have extended hours.  The vet is not very talkative, you really need to ask questions to figure out what is going on. Heave accent makes him a little hard to understand.  We have had some great service and some sub-par service.  It seems to be hit and miss with this vet. Read Less
