This animal clinic is so negligent and they have ZERO patient care ; if you all knew even how terrible the experience we had you would NOT take your loved pets here. This clinic was negligent gave no updates and let our senior dog die a slow death in the cage with no care. By the time my family showed up ( they finally forced themselves through the door) as the clinic did not give any updates and not picking up calls. Our beloved dog look so terrible he had a black tongue and was not recognizable. How dare you operate your clinic this way ! All “dr.Randy” can say was sorry and started covering bases “ he wasn’t there when..” well dr Randy WHO WAS there? We ended up having to put our dog down. The worst was knowing how long he suffered in that clinic 12 hrs . They ONLY wanted our money to keep him in a cage. If you guys were not going to care for him; you should have told us we instead you gave a stupid suggestion to keep him there for observation. Clearly no one was doing any observation because no one even bothered to update his status and how bad he was doing! FYI when I asked him all the questions they couldn’t even respond because they know how they messed up and dr Randy admitted the “whole team” was negligent! Well sorry at this point does not cut it! When we inter there in midnight with lots of concern for our little dog, and limited English. The administration guy was very aggressively responded us, and with no patient was questioning us. We were scared to leave our dog there with him. Finally I couldn't stop my self and i asked him to be patient with us other ways we would leave the office.Right after that he changed his way talking to us with little more patient, but the doctor was very professional, nice and knowledgeable. For sure we want to go to the same doctor for our pets , but please train your stuff for better customers service. Read Less

Can't complain about cost when you're saving your little animals. They do what they can and you see everything you're paying for BEFORE you pay it. They accommodate as well. We brought our cat in, who had Feline HCM, when his breathing suddenly became laboured. We rushed him to the emergency clinic but he passed away as we pulled up into the parking lot. The nurses dimmed the lights and lit a memorial candle for us, which I thought was really nice. They gave us time to say goodbye to our cat in private before they took him away. We had him cremated and recieved our ashes very quickly in less then 2 days (on a weekend) in a pretty urn along with official cremation documents and a card from the hospital. The nurses were caring and comforted us through the whole process. Read Less

What can I say, other than they saved my pets life when there was no one else around open that could. I found my 9 week old puppy non responsive , and appeared to me at the time, close to death. The Dog is alive today because of the three Vets that treated her over 2 days and the staff that medicated and oxygenated her continually for 2 days. I only wish they had a clinic for non emergency appointments - I would have both my dogs treated there in the future if they did. All the negative posts on this business have to do with money. They are made by people that probably can't afford to own pets and shouldn't. I think if you can't afford good quality care for your animal than maybe you shouldn't own one and should just go the Zoo or something.... Read Less

Love this clinic! Our dog had stones in his bladder and we took him here late at night where they listened to us and flushed out his bladder and urethra in hopes of not having to have surgery. Over the next several days we decided that surgery was indeed necessary. Our regular vet was going to charge us $2-3 thousand dollars and this clinic charged us half of that $1500.00. Overall, they have been polite, informed, transparent and we are happy with the results and our dog is back to his normal self. We would highly recommend them for any pet emergency. AVOID THIS CLINIC! Could give minus reviews if possible. This clinic’s main focus is MONEY not the animal. They make up their bills based on what they think they can get out of your wallet! The staff think they know everything and can tell pet owners that their animal needs a list of meds like morphine, sedatives and laxatives. Being a nurse, I knew exactly what these meds that were being prescribed to my dog were. I immediately refused to give my dog $500 worth of meds that he didn’t need. Got charged $1200 worth of fees. The veterinarian is smart, he does know a lot but will try to rob you if you do not know anything about the medical A&P of the body. Unnesscary meds being prescribed for no reason, and tests being done twice to charge double on purpose. RUDEST staff, their is a Filipino male staff in there who offered info about his previous work place at a hospital, who when asked did not even know why these specific meds were being prescribed to my dog or what they were! This vet hires anyone, no medical knowledge at all it is second hand embarrassment for this clinic. Took my dog and ran out to another vet! Read Less

Our dog ate some chocolate so we had to take him in at around 11:30pm. They were super helpful and informative on what to do and honest about the cost. Had to bring our dog back in at 4:30am and leave him there until around 12:30pm but they took good care of him and he was all better when we picked him up. When we arrived the first time, unfortunately someone was putting their dog down so they were considerate enough to show us into an exam room to give them some privacy. I really appreciated that they did that for them. Overall, nice, informative and patient staff and doctor even though we came in at such a late hour. Our worst case scenario turned out just fine all thanks to them. Read Less

It makes me sad that when u have an emergency rather than people helping you they start taking advantage. I never ended up going here, the phone conversation said it all and I hadn’t even checked his reviews at that time.. Last year I had my last vet visit with my kitty Toby. She fell ill very suddenly and it progressed so quickly. Toby, although part of a pair of sister calicos, was the most cuddly and loving cat I have ever had. Obviously I was heartbroken to see her in so much pain and to learn that further tests, treatments, or even surgeries could only increase her survival chances minimally if at all. The vet and all staff at Mainland were crucial to the atmosphere where Toby would lay t...o rest and where I would forever remember that devastating moment. While still staying strong and focused, I could feel the pain everyone felt seeing tear-filled goodbyes to a family member I had for 10 years. All staff members were exactly what they needed to be and beyond patient with me as I went through a rollercoaster of emotions. This all happened February 2016. I called tonight about my remaining kitty, Phantom. She has some mild symptoms I wanted to run by the emergency clinic that had been so helpful with Toby. While it didn’t sound like the girl on the phone was a vet herself (sorry if I’m incorrect!), it was extremely evident that she cared. She was in no way pushy for coming in or not coming in, and at no point in the conversation tried to force an end to it. Although totally understandable when an emergency clinic can’t stop to chat, it was nice to feel the positive energy coming from her helpful information and suggestions. It’s never ideal to rush family (human or animal) to an emergency facility, but when that time comes anyway, I’ll easily trust Mainland with my fur baby. Thank you to all the staff at Mainland both then and now. See More Read Less

There was a little cat in the middle of the street. Just sitting and shaking. It was obvious he was injured. People were just driving past him... sooo close to hitting him! I stopped, carefully scooped him up.. he was bleeding from his mouth and freezing cold. I'm holding him and balling in my car, driving to the nearest animal hospital... "It's gonna be ok Buttons (I named him Buttons)" When I got to the Animal Hospital on Fraser Hwy and 153 they wanted nothing to do with him when they found out he was a stray. They were disgusting actually. They told me to leave. I'm like "well I can't throw him in the trash!! Is he dying?! Look at him at least!" I had to beg them to give him morpheme for the pain. (At this point I'm covered in blood and cat poo) The little puke that works there told me to drive him out to the Langley animal hospital. On my way, the morpheme kicked in and Buttons turned into Linda Blair from the exorcist. I had to pull over and wrap him in my sweater.. "stop trying to kill me Buttons I'm saving your life!!" He finally calmed down when I got a stray jacket on him.. The staff at Animal Emerg Clinic in Langley were AMAZING. They took him right away and checked him out. They made me a coffee and even teared up when I told them the story... you can tell these people actually loved animals. I've waited quite sometime to write this review as I've been so upset and depressed. I want other people to know how this clinic runs and how uneducated the doctors are. My kitten had eaten something that was stopping her from eating and drinking for 3 days, I didn't know what it was but it was clearly blocking her stomach. When I first brought her in, the vets charged me $350, originally they wanted $900!!! They did a x-ray and gave her medicine. They'd told me whatever she ate, has already passed and that she would poop it out by the next day. I waited 2 days while I watched her deteriorate, brought her back in. They admit to me that whatever is was, it is not going to pass and they wanted $1200 for surgery. I told them clearly when I gave them $350 for an x-ray that was all the extra cash I had. They didn't even shrug, it was either I pay $1200 plus more for surgery or I have to put her down. Devastated, and still am, I chose to take her out of her misery (she was a bone rack by the 5th day). They said they needed $100 to put her down. I was furious, after the mistakes they'd made and promised me she was fine and nothing was stuck in her. I couldn't argue with them. I paid the $100 and I stayed with my baby while they put her to sleep. They ruined not only my life, but any chances of me ever wanting another angel. I am far too hurt and disappointed. Knowing I can't trust vets makes that even worse. I felt like I was being scammed, they wouldn't do anything to work with me. Not even a payment plan to save her life. Everyone needs to know how these vets operate. I'd dealt with a female and male vet (both east indian). I'm crying as I write this and I know I will never get over it. Read Less

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, i will never take another pet here again, and tell everyone to do whatever you can to avoid this place. My poor dog wasn't feeling to well and was falling down all over the place. So i rushed my dog to them as they were one of the closest places to my house (BIGGEST REGRET). At first they seemed very nice until they got my dog inside and we had a sit down with the vet. The very first thing he brought up was asking me how much my budget was and what i want to spend, which i thought was weird but fair enough. He looked at my dog for about 30 secs with me and my dog in the room and then said he would be back. He came back with a $1200 estimate which he said i had to pay 90% of upfront before they would do anything else. This was at 9pm at night. So i paid the 90% down and left my dog with them. They took x-rays and put him on IV treatment all night. They actually took the x-ray 1am and called me at 1:30am saying they did the xray and think there is a lump but its too foggy for them too see cuz there maybe something (fluid) that is causing the fogginess. Said he was going to keep my dog there until the morning and to be there for 7am to pick him up. I go there to pick up my dog and he has not improved at all. The vet then tells me that there is nothing more they can do and that i need to settle up the rest of my bill and take my dog to my normal vet (since they close during the day). I take my dog to my normal vet first thing in the morning and after about 5min they tell me that something serious is wrong and that suggest we take him to the emergency hospital. My vet was shocked that Mainland kept my dog there all night and then told me to take him to the vet. I rushed my dog to CANADA WEST in burnaby (THESE GUYS ROCK) who admit my dog in right away. They did another x-ray and told me that the foggy liquid stuff they saw inside of him is BLOOD. They had to do an emergency surgery on him to try and stop the bleeding from his spleen. They asked me as well what took me sooo long to bring my dog into them and then i told them about mainland keeping him all night and they said it was nothing serious. SHOCKED AGAIN another vet was. My dog had over 3L of blood in his belly, he was barley alive when i got him to mainland. He passed away during the surgery from all the blood lose. He sat at mainland for almost 10 hours bleeding out internally. I then the next day go to mainland and fill them in about what has happened and tell them that i feel like all they cared about was getting as much money out of me as possible. And that i cant understand how they can tell you how much a full treatment is going to cost before the dog has actually been looked at. My bill did NOT change from when they gave me the estimate at 9pm at night til 7am in the morning when i picked him up. The front desk girl was really nice and even the vet. She was very gentle with my 8 year old baby puppy who has issues with pancreatitis. We talked about tests, blood work and xrays but we already knew what the problem was. I said to the vet again that she had this issue before and we dont need "all these tests" the vet said she would prepare an estimate and asked if we had insurance and then i knew this was going to be bad. When she did come back the estimate was almost $900.00. After almost passing out we just said we will pay for the exam and take her to our regular vet. She insisted she can cut out some of the items and came back with a $600.00 estimate. We just left with no disrespect to the vet. We have been dealing with vets for all of our lives and we have never heard of such absurd prices. What bothers me the most is that we all know that there are some veternarians out there that will gauge you just because they can but these "tests" were not necessary and these prices are so out of wack. Where do we draw the line between the health of a life and excessive profit.....excessive is an understatement. Don't get me wrong we love our pets and there is nothing we wouldn't do for them but this is absurd, offensive and just an out right crime.  If you are a cash cow then by all means, knock yourself out but stay with your regular vet. We will never go back here. Read Less

Awesome place. Staff was super friendly, very reassuring when I was freaking out. I wasn't hit with what I would classify as "unnecessary costs" as I was expecting, the final bill was pretty much what I expected. Dr Zaffer was professional, realistic, and diligent in his work up, and even went so far as to check my dog's anal glands when the problem we came in for was on his paw. The day after our visit they followed up with a phone call, and the day after that they called again. I was very impressed with this place, and will hopefully not have to return for any emergencies, but if we find ourselves back here I know that my dog is in capable hands. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

When we arrived the first time, unfortunately someone was putting their dog down so they were considerate enough to show us into an exam room to give them some privacy. I really appreciated that they did that for them. Overall, nice, informative and patient staff and doctor even though we came in at such a late hour.

Turns out his tooth went through his lip when he got hit but other than that he's gonna be fine.. He's 9 months old and his name is BabyRead Less

So just playing with my dog in the snow and after she wouldn't stop slobering so took her took mainland (my vet was closed) and the front staff was very nice but when I was dealing with the vet ( I don't remeber her name ) she was so scared of my dog and there was no reason my dog put her paws up on the counter to like her and the vet said o she wants to shake a paw any dog owner knows u don't shake a paw from the hind legs. So checked my dogs mouth by squeezing her snout my dog wouldn't open her mouth so I opened her mouth for the vet and she said its fine I think she needs a shot and medication for home I asked what it was for as u don't a cruelly know what's wrong she said if she can't eat her throat will swell up but I had told her she just ate be for we got there. Sorry I am ranting but the first thing every vet I have taken my dog to they pet her this vet didn't. My dog is a boxer Read Less

At this point i was gettin upset with them and wanted to speak to someone who actually had authority there. I was told i would have the Head Vet call me and work something out. 3 weeks later i still dont have a call from them and i have left numerous messages to have someone call me back ALL IN ALL, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THESE CROOKS If you need an emergency hospital, there is one in LANGLEY and BURNABY. Drive the extra 20min for better service and someone who can actually do something for your pet Read Less

My cat was hit by a car late in the evening. I rushed him to this clinic while my husband stayed home with our daughter. Due to his injuries, my husband and I made the decision to put him down. I was by myself and it was very difficult for me to deal with. The vet and the assistant were so amazingly compassionate and respectful. I felt like the vet cared as much about my pet as I did. He stayed with me and was very comforting in my cat's last minutes. Absolutely above and beyond service.Read Less

Read Less
