Bait and Switch. Like a lot of downtown Dr's this clinic rarely has  a Dr in it. The staff is barely competent and we were often waiting outside  during business hours with a sign saying they'd be back but never did arrive. We'd order medication and have to wait while they made it up even though we'd called twice. Our Dog was dx with a heart condition and even though I often talked about his failing health and energy ect the Vet would ignore me and say he looks great and px more medication. We were paying about 400-500 a month in medication and even had them call us to ask us to count pills as if we weren't giving it to him!! Never were we encouraged to think of a peaceful end for our dog but told his heart would fail, they'd bring him back and adjust his meds! I absolutely hated this clinic and would never recommend it. Our dog ended up at an emergency clinic where they asked "when's the last time your dog had blood work" we told them at the time of diagnosis even though he was in often to get more meds. They were very concerned and said he needed constant oxygen and he needed to be put down. Very sad. Read Less

Our Dane had severe epilepsy and while we were not able to save him in the end, Dr. Wilkie made herself available at all hours to ensure we got the answers we needed in times of emergency. We have been meaning to write a review for Dr. Wilkie and the staff at Animal Medical Clinic since our elderly cat passed away last month at sixteen years old. If you're looking for a caring, knowledgeable, reliable, and helpful vet, you'll find one at Animal Medical Clinic. Our cat was an indoor-outdoor cat, but when she got old, we moved her from my parents' house in Surrey to live with us here in an apartment in the West End. Within months of bringing her to see Dr. Wilkie, our cat had a new lease on life: Dr. Wilkie changed her diet so she lost the extra pounds she'd been carrying, and put her on medication for her arthritis. In the three years that we took our cat to Animal Medical Clinic, we always felt that Dr. Wilkie and everyone who worked there had our cat's best interests at heart. As our cat grew older, she developed kidney disease and had trouble with bladder infections, and Dr. Wilkie was always speedy in treating her, and worked hard to prevent further illnesses. The clinic always called to follow up on our cat to ensure that she was recovering, or doing okay. Wei, Brian, and other staff members were always kind and helpful. There were a handful of times when Dr. Wilkie was unavailable, and Dr. Grundy helped us - it was comforting to know that someone was there for our cat, even when Dr. Wilkie was away.During our cat's life we saw half a dozen different vets in Surrey and in Vancouver, and Dr. Wilkie was definitely our favourite. She is a vet that we could trust, had sound advice, and had our pet's best interests in mind. She improved our cat's quality of life, and for that we will always be grateful. Read Less

I switched vets from my usual one because they were money grabbing and using fear to empty my wallet. So I made an appt at Animal Medical Clinic. The office is low key almost like a human clinic. There are very few things they sell, which in my book is a good thing, as vet sold, food, treats etc usually come with the "Vet Tax".  Curie needed shots and they have great prices. The Vet is a nice friendly Saskatoon girl, who spent time getting to know my lovely cat before she provided care. I never felt rushed at all. I also never felt pressured to buy expensive vet only food. My cat has a history of kidney crystals and other vets always push their expensive RX food. This vet advocates wet food and never pushed a brand. Which is a rare thing as Vets get big kickbacks from the food companies. This food payola starts in Vet school where the food companies teach the nutrition classes.  Ok back to the vet, this is not a flashy trendy office, it is spotless, professional and affordable a gem in this towns veterinary climate. they also offer an affordable pet insurance if you like as well.  Curie gives it four paws up!
