I appreciate we can send inquiries and pictures via text as needed when something comes up thats not life threatening but still taken seriously and don't have to fork over for an office visit that can be fixed over the phone. Dr. Kukkar and the staff took great care of my little Pom . Their knowledge and expertise in canine oral surgery was top notch. My little baby needed many baby teeth removed and also required the removal of a compacted canine tooth. His other canine needed shortening to avoid it digging into his gum. Needless to say his teeth were a hot mess and Dr. Kukkar fixed him up perfectly. It wasn't cheap for sure, but her knowledge in oral surgery was worth every penny. Read Less

First of all the girls up front are very nice! Great customer service But the main issue I had was the communication between the vets. I had taken my dog to the vet on a Tuesday since he has not eaten any food since the previous Saturday and has also had issues with his back the previous 2 weeks. They did some blood work and urine tests. The blood test and urine test came back the next day Wednesday but because Dr. Ubi had Wednesday and Thursday off they did not voluntarily tell me about the results. I had to call 4 times on his day off and it took a little bit of anger and frustration from me to get the results told to me by the other vet. Now this other vet has no clue about the issues going on with my dog, which is understandable because she is not the primary vet of my dog. But mind you my dog is now 5 days without food and is very ill. I had to take my dog to another vet in Richmond. They were able to find out what was wrong with him within 2 days. Everything was done in house and I was very pleased. Still to this day Dr. Ubi has not given me a call regarding those tests and still doesn’t know what is wrong with my pup. All in all I think the level of compassion from him was not so great compared to the vet in Richmond (Raps). I would probably give this place a 3/5 but the high rating that they have right now concerns me for other pet owners. So I’m going to give a 1/5 to help bring down the average. Read Less

False advertising and very dishonest.  This was my first time at Cambie Animal Hospital and my puppy is a new patient.  Their website advertised front and center "New Patients Receives 15% OFF first Consultation visit."  After the consultation and purchase of medicine, they did not honor the advertised discount and their response was "it was for people who made appointments online" , we made our appointment on the phone.  NOwhere on the website did it say that.  Very weak. First thing, to find out if you have a caring Vet or a money concerned vet is to ask and see if they have a package deal for checkup vaccines combined. You will notice that all vets that only care about your money will have no package for this common checkup, like this vet and affiliated places vets to this (Vancouver south, Intercity). There are plenty of vets out there including the new one we go to that makes a cheap package (IE Lansdowne vet, etc.) When you visit these places you can tell that Cambie and affiliates only care about money. Now I won't talk about my sob story and how this vet killed my cat.... but what I want you to understand, from personal experience, that when your pet goes into critical condition every hour and minute count towards your pets life. When taken here my cat was left to die "stabilize" literally. After the mal practice this place had done I had several consultations with other vets and provided them the same info that Cambie had. I was told from every other vet that they had all the info needed to act accordingly but chose to "stabilize" the cat rather than save them. With what we spent "stabilizing" the cat, we were told by other vets, that they could have saved him. When questioning the vets from Cambie after this information was given I was told that what the other vets said "COULD" be true... so what does this tell you... if you care for the well being of your animal and don't like to get ripped off for caring for your animal do not go here. I choose Cambie at first because it was the vet my friend goes to all the time. They have helped me a lot with my kittens! Their price are very reasonable and the front desk is super nice. After my kittens gone sick; they dealt with it right away and their diarrhea has now stopped and their eyes are no longer red. I am extremely happy with the result. I also love how they would call and frequently check up on your pets just to make sure they are well. I truly recommend this place to all pet owners! Dr Ubi and all of his staff are amazing. The past October the 7th, we had to say good bye to our beloved cat Romi who was struggling with constipation and arthritis and at the end, with cancer. During the time Romi was in treatment, Dr Ubi always made sure that he felt comfortable. The day we said goodbye for the last time, Romi went peacefully. Today we received a sympathy card with a print of Romi's paw, and beautiful words from Dr Ubi and all his staff. It was an incredible and unexpected gesture. I've always dealt with the Cambie Animal Hospital for all my pets but sadly this time with my new puppy the experience was less than professional. When I called to make an appointment to have my puppy spay I asked if maybe my puppy was too young the reception put me on hold to check and came back on the line to inform me that it was okay only to find out when I picked her up that she was too young. If that was the case why did they not call me to inform and ask. Instead they called to confirm that I was still going to go ahead and have her hernia taken care of as well. They then called to inform me that my puppy will be ready for pick up at 4:30pm. I have inform them that a family member will pick up for me and gave my credit card to charge. Reception even confirm my credit card information only to have them collect payment from my family member. Will have to consider if I want to bring my pet back here. Read Less

Dr Ubi and his staff have cared for our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers for 15 years. I am very appreciative of their competency, professionalism and sincere concern for our dogs. Dr Ubi and his colleagues are empathetic vets and they are not alarmists. I have never felt that they recommended unnecessary services. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the hospital is clean and bright. Each visit is followed up with a telephone call to enquire on the wellbeing of our dogs. I took my cat to see Dr. Kwan for neutering surgery. After the surgery she decided not to send my cat home with a cone just because my cat was not licking the wound area in that few hours after the surgery. She is only giving out some pain medication to go with no antibiotics. I mean, she never know if my cat is going to lick himself afterwards...isn't this increase the risk of infection?? Plus, my cat is experiencing diarrhea and bleeding from the wounds after the surgery which is not normal!  And they have lasted for 3 days! The other cat of mine who also did the neutering in other animal hospital never experienced something like this. When I call them they said i have to bring the cat in again for examination. The surgery thing already took me 260 bucks and i just don't feel like taking my cat in again to let them have the chance to do the stool sample or blood work or whatever. Read Less

We have brought our ferrets (and cat) to Dr Ubi for over 10 years. He's the best vet around for ferret care and I believe he genuinely cares for their well being. I also appreciate that when it comes time to have to say good bye to them he comes to the house to make it less stressful. I initially chose Cambie animal hospital because it is so close to my house, however after having taken my dog there for over a year now I am so glad I did. The staff is incredibly, kind, generous, patient and considerate of myself and my dog who is a very hyper energetic little monster. The doctor's have taken great care of her and taken every step to make sure my questions are answered and I know what else to look out for to take care of my dog. Their staff also consistently calls after visits to make sure my dog is getting better and never pushes me to come in if I don't have to. Many times if it is a minor issue i have been only charged half the usual fee. I recommend Cambie Animal Hospital to all my friends. Read Less

They say first impressions are everything, well I only needed one visit to Dr. Ubi and his staff to know I finally found our forever vet. I took my labmix in for what I suspected was an ear infection. The first thing I loved was how kind and lovely the other staff were, and then was blown away when Dr Ubi came in and automatically crouched down to make friends with my dog (who is quite nervous of the vet,) she let out a growl and he didn't even flinch he just grabbed some treats and made Nala feel more comfortable being there. The other thing I loved was that he never tried to upsell me anything, he simply reccomended some medications and sent us on our way (no vet only ear wash or special diets) Thank you again! If i could give no stars. I would. The vet i saw last time Dr Kwan ensured I'll never come back and will tell anyone who'll listen not to either. She's rude and very poorly informed. If i hadn't sought a second opinion i might have put my dog to sleep when all she really needed was antibiotics. Horrific. If you do brave this clinic and it's rude desk staff steer clear of Dr Kwan. .the other 2 were ok but lack of proper information and follow up meant my dog was full of bladder stones less than a year after she had surgery there. So far so good!My dog was diagnosed with cancer at another vet office and when I found a new lump on his neck which was similar in size and texture to the previous one, I took him into Cambie Hospital for a biopsy. Turns out it's just a cyst with no malignant cells!  (This made me wonder if the other vet was misdiagnosing so they could charge me with surgery - and that's just because my experience was so horrible that I have very little faith in them now) lolThis new vet seems quite honest and a genuine animal lover.  I will be using her from now on. We found Cambie Animal Hospital when seeking care for our boxer girl, who was struggling with panting and seizueress.  The previous doctor was a quack who excelled at prescribing expensive treatments that did nothing for her, and us being new to Canada, didn't know better.Doctor Ubi and his staff quickly diagnosed her with Cushing's disease and they worked very hard to save her, always being clear about expectations.  When we decided to put her down, they sent us a beautiful card.Needless to say we continue to rely on Cambie Animal Hospital our furry family medical needs. Since then we have been back for another procedure and we have always been greeted with friendly and knowledgeable staff especially in comparison to the vet we first took our dog to for his original check up (who basically just tired to sell us procedures and supplements). My reason for going to Cambie Animal Hospital was for my 'exotic pet' chinchilla. I had read in the bios that Dr Ubi had experience with them and when I called to inquire, they confirmed that.We had adopted the chinchilla and it turned out that he had quite a few issues over the course of his short life. Dr Ubi helped tremendously as we all did our best to prolong his life and to keep him as comfortable during his days as possible. We were very happy with the care, knowledge and treatment that our chinchilla received with Dr Ubi. We have three more chinchillas who we would take there, if they developed any issues. Read Less

I'm a ferret owner and have been for a long time. I'm not sure what's happened to illicit so many negative reviews--perhaps a new vet? I've been a fan of Dr. Ubi for a long time. His expertise in treating my ferret "Undine" who had adrenal disease was nothing short of extraordinary. Moreover, he was loving and sympathic to her, which is a quality I haven't always witnessed in animal caregivers. Undine passed away after nine happy years. I now have a new ferret, and Dr. Ubi is definitiely my vet of choice when it comes to my fuzzy baby. Read Less

I have used the Cambie Animal Clinic for a few years and have tried other clinics, too.  I think Dr. Ubi is a good vet and he is very careful with what he suggests for the animals.  He is very thorough.  I have found his price range to be moderate and he knows when to refer on.  There are other more inexpensive vets but the services is not so good. After taking my cat there I thought everything would be completely fine as I had someone recommend this place to me.I really wish I had originally checked on Yelp because now I am having the same thing happen.A visit that I was told would only cost me around $50-75 ended with them attempting to charge me about $150 for medication that after calling another vet that my parents go to for their cats told me was completely unnecessary. My vet was fully booked for the week so they suggested this place. Although the vet was very sweet he struggled explaining what the problem was and kept on calling my female dog "He". The medication perscribed ran out half way through the time my dog was to take it. Of course the vet suggested "Blood work" to be done but I refused to have it done after being ripped off royaly in the past from other vets for this. All in all in the emergency situation I found myself in this vet was ok. I did however have to go back to pick up more medication which was pretty lame. I'll be sticking to my regualr vet thanks. Initially, I was elated to find a vet who is open on Sundays. So, I made an appointment and naively went there.The first sentence should be a BIG warning sign that should made me leap for the door: " Well, my first diagnosis is your dog is blind." Hermm... not an even legit diagnosis if I just wrote that on the information paper 15 minutes ago...And the experience just sadly deteriorated after that ... Not only did he struggled ( struggle maybe an understatement here) to explain my dog's skin problem, but then he started to suggest all these unnecessary procedures ( which i personally LOATHE). And to end things in the highest note possible, he even suggested that my little guy suddenly has developed a heart murmur. ( which I found untrue after checking with a more knowledgeable and sane vet yesterday)I'm not sure if there is lack of regulation for vets in B.C. But I personally believed that vets should be at least decently well educated and skilled to practice. A pet owner concern is something not to be taken advantage of at anytime. and a pet's well being is not something one should play around with. Read Less

After realizing that as nice as the Animal Wellness Centre is, it's too rich for my blood, I started asking around for vet recommendations. A friend recommended Cambie Animal Hospital and the vet there, Dr. Ubi. She said, "I find him very good, empathetic and sympathetic. He is soft spoken and sometimes understates the severity of things. If he says something isn't good then it is pretty serious. He does not tend to push procedures but if asked he will tell you what can be done, in what order and why." Cool! I booked an appointment. We brought our dogs in and we found Dr. Ubi to be a gem. He has a really calm energy and he and his staff are warm, kind and professional. We had a follow up appointment a couple of days ago, but had to cancel at the last minute because of snow related issues. They were really understanding and happily rebooked our appointment.
