I came to this animal hospital through VOKRA, as it was one of two in Vancouver that we could have complimentary neutering done for our two male kittens. Prior to bringing them, one of my kittens had started to experience digestive complications. I called them on Christmas Eve and asked if I should bring him in or wait until the appointment on the 29th. They said I should wait. Alright. The following are all of the negative experiences I have had with them in less than a week:1) Provided different information to me. Firstly I was told the following in regards to the neutering: no food after 10pm, drop off at 8am, pick up at 4:30pm. Then the day before the appointment, I received a messaged with the following: no food or water after 10pm, drop off between 8 - 9:30 am, pick up at 5pm. A little confused by the mixed information, I was just glad I had the week off. Boy, that would have been annoying if i had switched my shifts to accommodate bringing them in or picking them up!2) Drop off.I got there at 8:05am to drop them off and expressed (again...) my concerns about one of the cats and his digestive issues. As they had continued for a week at that point, I figured there would be more concern. I was met with nothing of the sort - but rather a putting down of VOKRA and it's policies regarding wet food. Now I understand if you don't agree with feeding cats wet food, but to outwardly recognize that I signed off on those policies and then trying to advise me otherwise rubbed me the wrong way. Not only that, but to seemingly disregard MY concern that it could be something more serious than just his food. I even brought up that the vet my husband had seen suggested that the one might have an infection, due to nasal discharge and his sneezing. Nope. It must be his food.3) Pick-UpFinally - after what felt like forever - I got to go pick up my kittens (whom we have had only had for a couple weeks). Feeling worried and anxious about everything, I thought I would get more than I received. Walked into a completely deserted waiting room and even waited around for a couple minutes before anyone came out. There was a different girl who came this time and her attitude was almost on par with the one in the morning. She seemed very unsure of everything, even the idea of me picking up my cats. After a strange interaction, she brought my cats out in their carriers. She made no comments on how they did, what I should do to care for them, what to do if anything became infected, OR - the biggest one - how long to leave the blasted e-collars on for. As she had started to walk into the back room, I actually had to ask her these questions. Why should I be the one prompting this? She didn't know, so she went to ask the vet. I then brought up AGAIN the digestive issues. I felt so silly for being the one to have to ask about this for the third time (still without any real answers or probing into what the issues could be). She went back again to this mysterious vet I kept hearing about, hiding away in the back room. She said the vet suggested an "A/D" blend and kind of awkwardly stood there showing it to me. "Uh... so this is for digestion?" I questioned, trying to pry some information from her. "Yeah...," she answered hesitantly. Unsure of the whole thing, I quickly grabbed three large cans, paid, and left. 4) Is it wrong that I wanted to meet the vet? I used to deal with a great animal hospital in Tsawwassen with my other cats. Every single time the vet would come out and talk to me. Never did I even see this new person. Maybe I'm just missing my small town hospitality? 5) The tattoo. To add insult to injury, not only were my one cat's digestive issues unresolved, I discovered the botched tattoo in his ear. My other cat's ear is perfectly fine, by the way, totally legible. I thought, with the benefit of the doubt, that it was just caked on ink. Nope.If you're curious what the tipping point for my anger was, it was this. Oh and then I called the vet. When I called to inform them that the A/D formula was not working and that I think the tattoo was messed up and could potentially be infected, I was met with a very 'whatever' attitude. And the saddest part was that I wasn't really that surprised! Instead of expressing concern or empathizing with me, she said, "Can I call you back?" I agreed and made sure she had my phone number and not my husbands. Can you guess what happened next? You're right! She never called me back! Alright, now let's pretend this particular 'hospital' doesn't like the partnership they've formed with VOKRA. Maybe they don't agree with it's policies. That still, 100%, does not excuse the profound lack of social ineptness and lack of concern that I experience. Read Less
