This place is a joke. They tried to push us for a teeth clean on our small dog when we just wanted a general examination and to figure out what was wrong with his breathing. Luckily we brought him to a vet with some descentsy and found out that he had heart issues and had he been put under anesthesia it probably would have killed him. Not to mention! Do NOT take your pet here. Avoid at all costs. These people are crooks. I once had a nice vet here (Dr. Mak), but she left. The woman who replaced her is unprofessional, incoherent and brutal. She doesn't listen and can barely explain herself. I took my cat here out of desperation because he was bleeding and needed stitches (I knew Dr. Mak was gone but hadn't yet found a new vet). This woman did a horrible stitch HACK job, and provided NO aftercare instructions (nor did she prescribe the right creams or antibiotics). The stitches came apart, and i returned (foolishly) to have her redo them. she did a horrible job (again) and was exceedingly rude about it. So far, we had spent $700. The wound did not heal. Our cat went into a depression.We finally took our cat to metrotown animal hospital. They did a proper job and admitted that the job done by the previous vet was unusual and sloppy. We spent another 500 there. Thankfully, metrotown did a neat and tidy job and the wound healed up quickly. I have serious doubts that this woman vet at sunshine even has proper credentials. She doesn't know what she's doing. I intend to report this vet and clinic. Do NOT trust these people. We went into a lot of unnecessary debt because of their incompetence. They once had a few great vets work there but they never lasted long because of how this place is run. They will force you to do unnecessary treatments for your animal. We had a cat boarded there to be treated with eye drops for an eye infection. She was never treated and became blind as a result. Read Less

This place is terrible. My cat was spayed here and got fleas from the clinic. When we went to pick her up she wouldn't let the vet anywhere near her, she was terrified. She has never acted like this toward anyone before. The 2 vets we saw had conflicting opinions on when the cat should be spayed (the first said wait until 6 months, the second couldn't believe I had waited 6 months and said that was dangerous). They didn't provide us with any post operation care and tried to gouge us on the bill any way they could. Definitely more concerned with money than the well being of our animal. Nice friendly vets, gentle but firm with our cat - who is quite squirmy with us at home. The level of care is acceptable, they don't seem to sell you drugs but focus on wellness. I mirror other posts, support staff seem inexperienced, but I think their business model relies on internships rather than having a dedicated office manager. Read Less

I started going to this vet as my go to veternarian moved to this location. It was very good while she was there, but as she started moving to a different location, i believe they sold ownership or there was a new manager. Frankly, i've had nothing but awful service ever since then. They push significantly for more money, they've on multiple occasions held my pets medication randsome until i pay for more services that frankly, werent needed. They wanted me to do bloodwork and xrays for my dog that i would be putting down in a few months. My main reason for sticking around was convenience due to the area, well its been some time and they continously REFUSE to send my prescription anywhere else. Now stating that it costs 10 dollars just to send the FAX. Completely a money grab vet, not interested in anything but making money. I've been fed completely false information from them on a regular basis. (old cats dont get ear mites, in what world is this a thing?). 0/10 would NOT recommend. I had brought my cat in for vaccinations and was really unimpressed with how the vet handled her. It took 10 minutes to inject the vaccinations as she would insert the needle but would hesitate to inject it, causing a lot of stress for my poor kitten. They're also very unprofessional when it comes to sending off insurance claims, i had waited 4 weeks for my reimbursement only to find out that they never actually sent it off. I would not recommend this vet to anybody. Do yourselves a favour and look into a better clinic, where they actually know how to handle animals. Read Less

This is the only place I take my cat, and with her chronic kidney disease I'm usually at the office at least once bi-weekly! The staff is very friendly, and every vet who I've made an appointment with has been knowledgeable, gentle and helpful during the visit. Great vets but terrible, terrible support staff! Absolutely appalling scheduling, and they can't see to do their paperwork properly. I had to call three times to get some documents sent to our pet insurance. Then one time I scheduled some testing for my cat and they forgot to write it down in the books and also forgot to tell me not to feed my cat for 12 hours before the tests. Another time they sent in the wrong forms to the insurance company, and I had to call back for them to change the forms, but they told me to call back the next day.... I've brought both my cats here on numerous occasions, and each time the vets have been knowledgeable and diagnosed the issues correctly. I've seen both Dr Mak and Dr Jagpal who were great. However, I can't speak for any of the other doctors. Unfortunately the last time I was here, I saw a new vet who wasn't very professional or very friendly. I won't be coming back here unless I know Dr Mak or Dr Jagpal will be there.I appreciate the fact that they don't push you to get tests done, and are honest about prices before they do anything. My dog had a ruptured cornea all of a sudden and I had to take him in any vet that was open in the evening. We rushed into other vet and it was fully booked. We were desparate enough to go to this vet. Surprisingly there was no patients at all so we got in right away.We had to hold our dog while Dr Raj was washing the dog's eye with saline. Funny thing is two nurses were watching us getting wet.It was obvious that my dog's ruptured eye was beyond the scope of his practice but he did unnecessary tests just to make it more billable. on top he perscribed three medications that were not needed.Aftet all the tests, he told us nothing but to go to SPCA the next day. He charged us 135 to tell us to go to ＳＰＣＡ.The next day we took him to SPCA and the doctor right away sent us to the eye specialist without charging us.At the eye specialist, we found out the the eye drops Dr. Raj prescribed was totally improper and it could potentially be worse for the dog and irritation.After that we called them for reimbursement for the eye drop but he said he could only credit to us for next visit!  Im like NEVER! Excellent service. I came here because my dog was bitten by another and had several lacerations. The Vet was thorough in her assessment and did what was required and was balanced in her recommendations. I really appreciated that she did not push for all of the unnecessary extras. This animal hospital rocks! Dr. Raj took excellent care of my senior cat, Hobbz, when he had a very serious intestinal blockage, and now my kitty is on the road to great health. Dr. Raj is kind, compassionate and knowledgeable...and he even called me between appointments to check on Hobbz. He and Sunshine Plaza are now my vets of choice for all three of my cats. A good lesson in how to lose a potential customer... As new dog owners who live a block away from Sunshine Plaza Animal Hospital, my husband bought a bottle of dog shampoo here. It was supposed to be coconut scented and he was told it would be good to mask odor. We tried it, but it was very medicinal (not coconut) smelling, and even after a vigorous lathering our small dog still smelled bad. We tried to take the shampoo back and try something else. The receptionist was pleasant and receptive to my husband's concerns, but then the vet came out and asked if we already had an account with them. When he found out that we didn't yet, he refused to take back the shampoo because he said he couldn't sell it to someone else. We were willing to let him keep the $19 and take a credit for future service or products, but he told us we'd have to write to the manufacturer (a U.S. company) and ask for a refund. I'll certainly never take my dog here if they are so concerned about their profit on a bottle of shampoo that they don't see the potential thousands of dollars they could have had from a lifetime of vet service. Ripped Off Also! I took my cat there for ear mites. The fees seemed very high ($70 for ear mites), and I had to assist the vet. During the ear cleaning (which anyone could do), I got an ear cleaning solution all over my clothes because they didn't have their own assistant. Read Less
