All the reviews of this clinic portray compassionate and exceptional veterinary care, unfortunately my experience is one that I would not wish on anyone and I felt I finally needed to share our story. We brought our Siberian Husky Mia into this clinic for the first time in August because of chronic diarrhea and after a blood work up she was diagnosed with PLE, therefore we started an aggressive treatment plan. Mia immediately started having adverse effects from the medication so I brought her back in for a re-check with Dr Carolyn Walsh and was told to consider euthanasia because Mia had low blood protein levels Dr Walsh “expected” her health would rapidly deteriorate. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and found a vet who actually CARED and LISTENED to what I was telling him regarding Mia’s history & onset of symptoms. I am pleased to say today Mia is thriving and doing amazing! It was determined Mia had severe food intolerances and with a change in diet, her diarrhea & PLE resolved itself. There was no compassion shown to us by Dr Walsh nor have I ever felt so disrespected by any healthcare professional. To be honest, to this day, I cannot drive by Central Animal Hospital without experiencing extreme anxiety.

I have been a loyal and happy client of Central Animal Hospital since 1994 and was sad to see Dr. Udenberg leave and vet tech Julia being taken from us way to early. The new veterinarians Dr. Smith, Dr. Pulfer and lately Dr. Walsh have been great with our little Abby, who unfortunately has been troubled by various conditions. They are genuinely concerned about Abby’s wellbeing, always checking back with me after our visits. Also the vet technicians and front end staff are very friendly and helpful. Costs are high for veterinary services, I think regardless where you go. I wish they had more sophisticated lab equipment so they could do more lab tests in-house because the costs for shipping out to other labs and the waiting time could be diminished. Nevertheless, a big thanks for all they do :)

They have addressed my concerns and made every effort to remedy the situation-exceptional customer service in that regard. I will be staying with this vet clinic but will just not see Dr. Keith. Happy to be staying because Dr. Smith and all the staff have been so great over the years. Thank you for making it right and for being so good with my pets! I have been go...ing to this vet for over 6 years and I am sad to say I will be switching due to a very rude and unkind vet there. Every visit I have had with Dr. Keith, and especially the last one, has been upsetting. I know a few people who have switched vets because of her behavior. That being said- The front end staff are top notch and Dr. Trinity Smith is amazing and has treated my cats exceptionally well. If it weren't for Dr. Keith's behavior I would stay at this vet for many more years. See More

Our first experience with Central Animal Hospital wasn't under the best circumstances.
Having arrived in Vernon only a couple of months previously, we didn't know where any vet clinics were. Unfortunately our dog collapsed in front of us, and we needed to seek immediate attention. I remember seeing the signage for Central Animal Hospital so I headed in that general direction, while trying to get an emergency vet on call.
Sadly when we arrived (well past closing hours), our poor pug had already passed on. The staff at Central Animal Hospital were truly amazing. Not only did they open their doors after hours and try to assist, the care and compassion they had for us really helped. They treated our lovely dog with care, taking time to wrap her in a blanket and give us some time to say goodbye. With our two young daughters, this really helped them (and us) calm down and make us feel at ease.
More recently, we brought our 11-year old cat in as she had been experiencing some health issues. Dr. Keith and the techs were super knowledgable, listened to each and every one of our concerns, and described possible treatments and outcomes. Our girl Bailey has a condition which will require medication for the rest of her lifetime, but I am very confident that with the care team at Central Animal Hospital (and lots of love at home), will have a well-managed and happy life.

We thought our dog was unexpectedly dying. We called all the vets in Vernon and they all said they were busy for hours, which we didn’t think our dog had the time. When we called this vet, even though they were busy as well they said they would at least let us bring our dog there and they would be able to watch her and wait for until a doctor is not busy to examine her. All the staff was so kind. They were informative of what may happen to our dog when the doctor checks up on... her such as blood tests if needed, possible x rays, etc, and pricing. They made sure that they had our consent to those procedures if it came down to it. During the car ride there our dog had an accident and the staff were also nice enough to give us some supplies to clean it. The doctor was also very informative of what the causes may have been to our dogs sickness. While our dog was there for a few hours they also fed her some food, and gave us the remaining bit for free. We bought a few cans that they suggested and our dog loved it. They called a few times to check up on our dog after that day which was very appreciated See More

These ladies rock! When we had to put our dog down in October, they were totally ready for us with a private room. They brought us straight into the room so we didn't have to sit in the waiting room. And we had our own exit so we didn't have to walk through the waiting room on our way out. Very compassionate! Now that we have a new puppy, they welcomed her very nicely.

Math isn’t there forte as not once have we gotten the right amount of pills for the animals prescriptions. One of our animals recently had surgery and was not properly prepared for travel which resulted in another immediate surgery at our expense.... We have never had this many incidences at any vet, so we must have picked one of the worst clinics in the Vernon area. We sent the clinic an e-mail about our past experience, and we have never received a response back from the clinic. We will also be following this complaint up with the veterinarian association or what ever governing body there are for these clinics. See More

I called on a Friday afternoon with a very minor emergency with my cat. Dr. Keith was fully booked but I was told to come right in. She saw us between appointments but still took the time to treat my cat without seeming rushed. Fantastic group!

Going to the vet for your pet€s annual check-up is no big deal, but when your pet is suffering, it can be extremely overwhelming. This is the situation I was in, last year, when I moved to Vernon. My beloved cat, Nevada, had come down with a very bad upper respiratory infection and her health was rapidly declining. When I took Nevada into Central Animal Hospital, I was greeted by a friendly and caring staff. Over the next few, heart-breaking weeks, the doctors and staff took care of me along with making my Nevada as comfortable as possible. As a single, full-time working mom, life is never easy, and times of stress can be extremely draining, but knowing that everyone at Central Animal Hospital genuinely felt for us, made a huge difference.
After Nevada passed, everyone was very sympathetic, and in time I received a lovely, heartfelt, personal card, which provided closure. I really felt that everyone went above and beyond the requirements which made this extremely challenging situation somewhat manageable.
When my son and I are ready for a new fur addition to join our family, Central Animal Hospital will be our first stop when it comes to the health and wellness of our new pet.

My Benito was the very first patient at the new Central Hospital location. I left him there on June 2nd with the words: "He'll be your good luck charm; he's such a GOOD dog!!" And he was a good dog. ...
My Benito was the very first patient at the new Central Hospital location. I left him there on June 2nd with the words: "He'll be your good luck charm; he's such a GOOD dog!!" And he was a good dog. THE BEST. Dr. Keith met us at 5:30 in the morning when my 12 year old beloved fur baby Beni, was not only sick and nauseous but seemed to have stomach pains... What we thought at first was maybe pancreatitis turned out to be something much more serious. Truth be told I had a feeling it was going to be bad because normally if I put him on a vet table he would try to climb up me rather than lay there. This time he just laid his little head down and i was instantly terrified. Central is not our regular vet/hospital. I was visiting my parents in Vernon at the time so there i was at 5 in the morning searching Google and simply picking one that sounded the most compassionate and loving... Going on a wing and a prayer.. So although I had wanted to be at our own vets office, the moment Dr. Keith picked him up , I knew he was in good hands. You can't fake empathy. Unfortunately i lost my little buddy when ( thanks to an ultra sound machine on the premises which is rare ) they found the source of his pain was blood in his belly and rushed him into surgery. Had they not had an ultrasound he certainly would have suffered longer.... It was a burst cancerous tumor on his adrenals and so I was forced to race back down and say goodbye right there in O.R. .... a moment and place that of course is not ideal and still breaks my heart... They had nearly lost Beni several times on the table but had kept him alive so i could ( along with his " sister") at least say my final goodbyes.... It was yet another link to my soul mate and Husband whom bought him for me as a puppy when we moved from Vancouver to Kelowna and whom passed away prior...3 1/2 years ago. Love is love and grief is grief. Still grieving now but did want to share that even tho it was not our vet and hospital that i know and trust, I know Dr. Keith did everything she could to try to help and save him; was kind and gentle with him and for that I'm extremely grateful... Dr Keith and her staff have been nothing short of wonderful during this difficult time so please do not hesitate to bring your fur babies to them

I like how they do a follow up the next day to make sure your kitty is still doing alright :) Also, the receptionists seem quite knowledgeable themselves in how to look after animals, and give friendly service. All the reviews of this clinic portray compassionate and exceptional veterinary care, unfortunately my experience is one that I would not wish on anyone and I felt I finally needed to share our story. We brought our Siberian Husky Mia into this clinic for the first time in August because of chronic diarrhea and after a blood work up she was diagnosed with PLE, therefore we started an aggressive treatment plan. Mia immediately started having adverse effects from the medication so I brought her back in for a re-check with Dr Carolyn Walsh and was told to consider euthanasia because Mia had low blood protein levels Dr Walsh “expected” her health would rapidly deteriorate. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and found a vet who actually CARED and LISTENED to what I was telling him regarding Mia’s history & onset of symptoms. I am pleased to say today Mia is thriving and doing amazing! It was determined Mia had severe food intolerances and with a change in diet, her diarrhea & PLE resolved itself. There was no compassion shown to us by Dr Walsh nor have I ever felt so disrespected by any healthcare professional. To be honest, to this day, I cannot drive by Central Animal Hospital without experiencing extreme anxiety.

I have been a loyal and happy client of Central Animal Hospital since 1994 and was sad to see Dr. Udenberg leave and vet tech Julia being taken from us way to early. The new veterinarians Dr. Smith, Dr. Pulfer and lately Dr. Walsh have been great with our little Abby, who unfortunately has been troubled by various conditions. They are genuinely concerned about Abby’s wellbeing, always checking back with me after our visits. Also the vet technicians and front end staff are very friendly and helpful. Costs are high for veterinary services, I think regardless where you go. I wish they had more sophisticated lab equipment so they could do more lab tests in-house because the costs for shipping out to other labs and the waiting time could be diminished. Nevertheless, a big thanks for all they do :)

They have addressed my concerns and made every effort to remedy the situation-exceptional customer service in that regard. I will be staying with this vet clinic but will just not see Dr. Keith. Happy to be staying because Dr. Smith and all the staff have been so great over the years. Thank you for making it right and for being so good with my pets! I have been go...ing to this vet for over 6 years and I am sad to say I will be switching due to a very rude and unkind vet there. Every visit I have had with Dr. Keith, and especially the last one, has been upsetting. I know a few people who have switched vets because of her behavior. That being said- The front end staff are top notch and Dr. Trinity Smith is amazing and has treated my cats exceptionally well. If it weren't for Dr. Keith's behavior I would stay at this vet for many more years. See More

Our first experience with Central Animal Hospital wasn't under the best circumstances.
Having arrived in Vernon only a couple of months previously, we didn't know where any vet clinics were. Unfortunately our dog collapsed in front of us, and we needed to seek immediate attention. I remember seeing the signage for Central Animal Hospital so I headed in that general direction, while trying to get an emergency vet on call.
Sadly when we arrived (well past closing hours), our poor pug had already passed on. The staff at Central Animal Hospital were truly amazing. Not only did they open their doors after hours and try to assist, the care and compassion they had for us really helped. They treated our lovely dog with care, taking time to wrap her in a blanket and give us some time to say goodbye. With our two young daughters, this really helped them (and us) calm down and make us feel at ease.
More recently, we brought our 11-year old cat in as she had been experiencing some health issues. Dr. Keith and the techs were super knowledgable, listened to each and every one of our concerns, and described possible treatments and outcomes. Our girl Bailey has a condition which will require medication for the rest of her lifetime, but I am very confident that with the care team at Central Animal Hospital (and lots of love at home), will have a well-managed and happy life.

We thought our dog was unexpectedly dying. We called all the vets in Vernon and they all said they were busy for hours, which we didn’t think our dog had the time. When we called this vet, even though they were busy as well they said they would at least let us bring our dog there and they would be able to watch her and wait for until a doctor is not busy to examine her. All the staff was so kind. They were informative of what may happen to our dog when the doctor checks up on... her such as blood tests if needed, possible x rays, etc, and pricing. They made sure that they had our consent to those procedures if it came down to it. During the car ride there our dog had an accident and the staff were also nice enough to give us some supplies to clean it. The doctor was also very informative of what the causes may have been to our dogs sickness. While our dog was there for a few hours they also fed her some food, and gave us the remaining bit for free. We bought a few cans that they suggested and our dog loved it. They called a few times to check up on our dog after that day which was very appreciated See More

These ladies rock! When we had to put our dog down in October, they were totally ready for us with a private room. They brought us straight into the room so we didn't have to sit in the waiting room. And we had our own exit so we didn't have to walk through the waiting room on our way out. Very compassionate! Now that we have a new puppy, they welcomed her very nicely.

A trip to a vet is always a stressful experience, but it is compounded when extra trips and expenses are created due to there lack of attention and unprofessionalism. Math isn’t there forte as not once have we gotten the right amount of pills for the animals prescriptions. One of our animals recently had surgery and was not properly prepared for travel which resulted in another immediate surgery at our expense.... We have never had this many incidences at any vet, so we must have picked one of the worst clinics in the Vernon area. We sent the clinic an e-mail about our past experience, and we have never received a response back from the clinic. We will also be following this complaint up with the veterinarian association or what ever governing body there are for these clinics. See More

I called on a Friday afternoon with a very minor emergency with my cat. Dr. Keith was fully booked but I was told to come right in. She saw us between appointments but still took the time to treat my cat without seeming rushed. Fantastic group!

Going to the vet for your pet€s annual check-up is no big deal, but when your pet is suffering, it can be extremely overwhelming. This is the situation I was in, last year, when I moved to Vernon. My beloved cat, Nevada, had come down with a very bad upper respiratory infection and her health was rapidly declining. When I took Nevada into Central Animal Hospital, I was greeted by a friendly and caring staff. Over the next few, heart-breaking weeks, the doctors and staff took care of me along with making my Nevada as comfortable as possible. As a single, full-time working mom, life is never easy, and times of stress can be extremely draining, but knowing that everyone at Central Animal Hospital genuinely felt for us, made a huge difference.
After Nevada passed, everyone was very sympathetic, and in time I received a lovely, heartfelt, personal card, which provided closure. I really felt that everyone went above and beyond the requirements which made this extremely challenging situation somewhat manageable.
When my son and I are ready for a new fur addition to join our family, Central Animal Hospital will be our first stop when it comes to the health and wellness of our new pet.

My Benito was the very first patient at the new Central Hospital location. I left him there on June 2nd with the words: "He'll be your good luck charm; he's such a GOOD dog!!" And he was a good dog. ...
My Benito was the very first patient at the new Central Hospital location. I left him there on June 2nd with the words: "He'll be your good luck charm; he's such a GOOD dog!!" And he was a good dog. THE BEST. Dr. Keith met us at 5:30 in the morning when my 12 year old beloved fur baby Beni, was not only sick and nauseous but seemed to have stomach pains... What we thought at first was maybe pancreatitis turned out to be something much more serious. Truth be told I had a feeling it was going to be bad because normally if I put him on a vet table he would try to climb up me rather than lay there. This time he just laid his little head down and i was instantly terrified. Central is not our regular vet/hospital. I was visiting my parents in Vernon at the time so there i was at 5 in the morning searching Google and simply picking one that sounded the most compassionate and loving... Going on a wing and a prayer.. So although I had wanted to be at our own vets office, the moment Dr. Keith picked him up , I knew he was in good hands. You can't fake empathy. Unfortunately i lost my little buddy when ( thanks to an ultra sound machine on the premises which is rare ) they found the source of his pain was blood in his belly and rushed him into surgery. Had they not had an ultrasound he certainly would have suffered longer.... It was a burst cancerous tumor on his adrenals and so I was forced to race back down and say goodbye right there in O.R. .... a moment and place that of course is not ideal and still breaks my heart... They had nearly lost Beni several times on the table but had kept him alive so i could ( along with his " sister") at least say my final goodbyes.... It was yet another link to my soul mate and Husband whom bought him for me as a puppy when we moved from Vancouver to Kelowna and whom passed away prior...3 1/2 years ago. Love is love and grief is grief. Still grieving now but did want to share that even tho it was not our vet and hospital that i know and trust, I know Dr. Keith did everything she could to try to help and save him; was kind and gentle with him and for that I'm extremely grateful... Dr Keith and her staff have been nothing short of wonderful during this difficult time so please do not hesitate to bring your fur babies to them

I like how they do a follow up the next day to make sure your kitty is still doing alright :) Also, the receptionists seem quite knowledgeable themselves in how to look after animals, and give friendly service. Would recommend taking your pet there.
