Every interaction we have had with members from this Vet has been outstanding! From our first time dropping in to register our family/pup, to coming in to get his nails trimmed, to the amazing puppy package (12 and 16 week shots, etc.) everyone was friendly and helpful. Our vet, Blythe, was amazing with our young puppy. He didn't even make a sound as she gave him his shot. Blythe was very helpful for first time puppy owners like us. Best Veterinary Clinic on the Westshore!! Have used Juan de Fuca Vet for several years. We had our precious "Minnie" cat for 17 years before we had to have her put down. They were very compassionate and went the extra mile during the loss of our pet. We now have 2 rescue cats "Piper & Moka" and we also take them there. We know they will receive excellent care. Love this vet. Been there a few times with both our cat and dog. We have dealt with multiple staff and vets and have never had a bad experience. Our cat recently became ill after hours and we had to take it to the vet hospital rather then this clinic. The hospital charged over 3X what this clinic did and did not fix the problem with our cat. 2 days later we took the cat to this clinic. This clinic kept the cat for half the time the other place did, charged us less then a 3rd of the cost and our cat is doing 20X better just one day later. We didn’t realize how lucky we were with this vet office until we were forced to go somewhere else. Both my husband and I HIGHY recommend this clinic to anyone. Read Less

Our very fragile 18 year old cat, Willow, became dramatically ill at 9:30 pm on a Friday night. We did not have a local vet and on a friend's recommendation, I called the Clinic at 8:30 am Saturday. The front desk staff were wonderful and told us to bring her in without an appointment and to have her file from across the city faxed to them. Wonderfully caring, gentle and pragmatic Dr. Sara MacTavish saw Willow by 9:30 that same morning. She was scanned, given sub q's, an antibiotic and anti-nausea injection. We were home by 12:00 and she raced for her food bowl. They could have turned us away. They could have given us an appointment later in the day or next week. Instead, they fit us in right away even though it was our first visit. We may not have been clients before but we are now. Thank you to all the staff at Juan de Fuca Veterinary Clinic.Read Less

We recently took two pets (Cat & Dog) for their 1st check-up at this veterinary clinic. We were very impressed with the staff and their treatment of our pets. Mostly we loved that there was no pressure to up-sell unnecessary vaccinations (ie. kennel cough treatment for our dog that is rarely around other dogs). Previously, we had a 14 year old cat was very sick and we suspected was near it's end. The vet that we dealt with didn't push expensive tests that he felt likely would not change the prognosis. I took my cat Angel to the vet tonight for a check up. When we were leaving she got out of her crate and got underneath my car. Love the veterinary office but find it can be a little overwhelming to have different vets meeting with your animal over the same issue. Our dogs love the vet there, and we have always had our issues resolved and addressed thoroughly, will return for sure :)Read Less

I cannot get over the generosity and love that Juan de Fuca Veterinary Clinic has given Yota and us. Unfortunately Yota's injury was really badly timed and we were unable to pay the full cost for surgery. They covered approx. $800 of our vet bill (also thanks to Cat's Protection League) for Yota's front leg amputation. When we picked up Yota yesterday after his surgery and some time to calm down (he reacted badly to the meds and was fighting causing his new wound to bleed) they gave us 7 cans of high end cat food (the vet, Dr. Margaret Cairns, told the receptionist to charge it to her account) that is specially made to help healing cats. As of about 5 minutes ago the Clinic called me to say that Cat's Protection League has donated another full case of this cat food to us. It makes me so overwhelmingly happy that people out there care for complete strangers and this poor little cat. You always hear bad, skeptical things about vet clinics trying to rip people off, etc, but Juan De Fuca Veterinary Clinic really cares. I absolutely love the vets here very caring and if you have any questions or concerns they will answer them and help you with your concerns.Ashley the lady that deals with weight management is awesome and my kahlua loves her she has been very helpful with Kahlua's weight issues and has been able to see Kahlua on a monthly basis to make sure he is on track .They are also very reasonably priced for there services.I will definitely be continuing to come to this vet hospital and will be giving there number to friends that need a vet. Juan De Fuca Vet has taken such great care of my Nala, as well as easing my mind on an almost daily basis. They did a mature spay on her to deal with her pyometra, as well as everyone putting up with my daily phone calls to ask a new question. Nala is now expected to make a full recovery and I can finally get a good nights sleep knowing she's been given the best care! All of our pets are always treated like royalty there and we couldn't be more thankful for the great care that they always give. Phenomenal. I took my 5 yr-old Doberman to Juan De Fuca Vet Clinic for the first time to address what I thought was a torn ligament in his hindquarter. Dr. Gayfer saw K.O. and immediately brought him in for x-rays. He went over the x-rays with me informing me of the different issues occurring in his hind leg, including the development of an incredibly aggressive type of cancer. I was absolutely devastated to say the least. He and his staff were exceptional in showing compassion to our situation, and guided me through my options, and the next steps. Upon leaving, Dr Gayfer even offered to personally help get K.O. into the car. Over the next few days, I discussed amputating the leg and putting K.O. on chemo with Dr. Gayfer. He called me between my home and work, went over the costs (openly and honestly, which was greatly appreciated), and the fact that there was no guarantee of time. He advised me do an additional xray to ensure the cancer had not spread. He booked us in immediately. He sent the x-rays off to a specialist to ensure K.O. was cancer free in his lungs. Again, he called me personally to let me know the results came back clear and his amputation was booked. Dr. Gayfer and his staff were incredibly helpful, informative and treated our delicate case with sensitivity and empathy. The day after the surgery, both Dr. Gayfer and his on-site Technician called me separately to check in on K.O., and after viewing several photos I had emailed, Dr. Gayfer arranged his technician to personally drop off medication to my home. Later that evening, Dr. Gayfer called again, from his home, on his day off, to request to see K.O. to ensure his discomfort was being fully addressed. He opened up his clinic at 5:00pm that very evening, which happened to be Christmas Eve and did all that he could to help my dog. Regardless of my K.O.s success on his treatment plan, I know he is being treated by the best veterinary team. I couldnt speak more highly of Juan De Fuca Vet Clinics professionalism, expertise, and above all else commitment to the well-being of animals.
