My cat was having issues peeing and we searched in Vernon for a vet that was open, none were taking emergency calls other than tri-lake so me and my girlfriend quickly drove out to lake country. His condition turned out not be that serious and we were provided with medication and clear/concise instructions on how to take care of him and make sure the same didn't happen again. They charged reasonably and we left with food, meds, helpful pieces on his condition to read and smiles knowing our baby was safe. I would let Tri Lake animal hospital to take care of my pets again, and if you live in lake country, or if you're in an emergency this is a good place to take your fur babies. Making sure you can keep your animals safe is very important, and I would trust the team at Tri Lake to do it again! Read Less

I had a recheck of my dog which had dental surgery April 20th by Dr. Coldwell. She excellent job on Nelli. Doctor checked on Thursday that everything was OK and everything was fine. If any one is looking for a doctor for their dog, I highly recommend Dr. Coldwell. Read Less

The staff here are Amazing! My cat Loki is a trouble cat with quite a few health issues and Dr. Heather Gordon has been a huge help with trying to solve all his issues. She is an amazing veterinarian and I highly recommend her as well as Dr. Jessica Treen, who has also been a big help! This is the only place that we take our guinea pigs. Well worth the drive over from Kamloops. Dr Coldwell is very knowledgeable and treated our little Darwin as though he was her own. Unfortunately he passed away in the clinic late in the night after a surgery to remove a bladder stone. Dr Coldwell called me first thing in the morning to extend her sympathies, and discount our bill as a courtesy. When I went to pick up his remains everyone was so kind. It's nice to see that they treat all animals equally, and don't discriminate. A couple weeks later we received a hand written card from Dr Coldwell again sympathizing our loss. I cannot thank them enough. Fast forward a couple weeks and we brought our other guinea pig into the clinic as a walk in and Dr Kaplan was amazing. She was patient, and took her time to go over ever one of our concerns without making us feel like she was in a rush. Read Less

I really like this hospital because although a little expensive, I know my dogs are cared for in time of need. I also know that there is always someone there 24/7 if one of my crybabies is I'll. This is hands down the best vet my wife and I have ever taken our bulldogs to. Responsive, professional, skilled and affordable I would recommend tri-lake to anyone. We would particularly recommend Dr. Coldwell who saved our baby bulldog, Bailey after he ingested a foreign object. With what seemed like bottomless compassion, Dr Coldwell kept us in the loop every step of the way and was quick and accurate with her diagnosis, which saved Bailey's life. My English Budgie showed signs of illness but I had been unsure whether to classify it as an emergency. After describing his symptoms over the phone, an emergency appointment was made within the hour with the Avian Specialist. Within moments of arrival to the appointment, I was greeted with kindness and respect and my bird was promptly moved to a warm incubator to warm up and retain energy. The Avian Specialist took great care in discussing options, prices and all procedures with me prior to proceeding. She also explained any possible risks involved in the procedures, which are not always easy to hear, but absolutely necessary to understand. My bird was cared for and monitored for the duration of 48 hours at their facility. An incredible team of people work here, and altho the prices are on the high end, you are receiving the highest quality of avian care in the Okanagan. 5 stars for an outstanding team of professionals!Read Less

I had my dog put down by these people. I was assured that they where professional and that the procedure would be painless and comfortable for my dog. The person came out to my vehicle to administer the sedative and told me that she would simply fall asleep in 5 or 10 minutes. 20 minutes later my dog was not yet showing any signs of being on a sedative. I had my wife go back inside to find out if there was a problem. When the receptionist came out she told us that it may take a little longer. At 25 minutes my dog started whimpering, stood up and started wrenching and shaking. She continued to try to throw up for another couple of minutes, crying and shaking the whole time. Finally at 32 minutes after the sedative was administered my dog finally lied down and went to sleep. The "vet" told me she did not know why that would happen because she had given my dog "twice the amount of sedative that it called for a dog her size". Because of the irresponsible actions of this "vet" by giving my 50 pound dog a dose of sedative for a 100 pound dog, too much for my dogs body to handle all at once, she got to spend her final moments scared, nauseous and shaking. I had to watch as my best friend and companion of 15 years die terrified and in obvious pain because of Tri Lake Animal Nightmare's unprofessional practice. Tri Lake is the best! They are a Hospital that treats all manner of little ones AND takes in emergencies as they come in. Just like a human hospital. They are a fully equipped hospital and are capable of dealing with all manner of life or death situations. Emergencies sometimes requires that people with non life threatening situations have to wait a short while. If my pet was in a life or death situation, I would be furious if someone with an appointment got to see the vet before my pet, especially if it was not an emergency. We are so grateful to have this Hospital, particularly Dr Linda Kaplan. We have been going to Tri Lake for almost 7 years with our bunnies. I have always found the treatment to be the best [ I do a lot of research ] and the staff is always pleasant and courteous. Having bunnies with health issues is just a nightmare when you cannot find a vet that knows how to treat bunnies. Frankly, in my experience, a lots of vets tell you they have experience but in reality they know very little and the bunnies suffer for it. Dr Linda Kaplan is just incredible! Not only does she care for bunnies but all "Exotics" and she treats each one as if it were her own precious little one. Their reputation is excellent because they are the best.. People come from all over central BC just to have them treat their little ones. Last time I was there, people from Penticton, Salmon Arm, Osoyoos, Kamloops. One couple travelled 4 hours one way just to have them treat their little one. I am glad we only have to travel 1 hour each way!Read Less

I've been to this clinic for over a year and have seen several of the vets. The Kaplan's are smart and thorough vets, but my praise ends there. I found Dr. Gibson very difficult to communicate with, and have little faith in her after I came in because my dogs stomach had become quite bloated within the past 2 hours, and she suggested it could possibly be a tumor. I decided to transfer vets after I called in because my dog was having some trouble breathing, and the only offer for an appointment was for 5 days later. Read Less

The last visit to tri lake was the last straw.. The wait in the waiting room is typically half an hour past the appointment time then they place you in an exam room and leave you there for another 45 minutes to an hour..or more.. before seeing your pet... The service is very able.. they have lots of knowledge and ability however, the clinic itself is no longer a small family operated business and as such, the quality of service has slipped. If you are late or miss an appointment,they are very quick to point out that it won't be tolerated but they never seem to be able to make their own appointments on time, leaving a customer to wait... This trend has been getting worse over time. Once again, the service is very able, it's just become big business and you can expect to be left to wait. After using this service for 10 years or more, we now go elsewhere. . Although it seems other places are a bit less money (which doesn't really matter) but if you add the massive wait times.. it becomes not worth the drive. There would, most likely, be times when we would return to use the service, however, for routine matters, you can save hours going somewhere else for help that is just as competent. I was a big supporter for years. Leaving was difficult but I just got tired of waiting and waiting.. for an appointment that was booked a week or more in advance to be left waiting like that.. for every visit for more than a year..gets frustrating. Phones to ask for an appointment -- girl offered 3 times -- I chose one time the the girl said to come for walk in -- I went and sat there for 1 hour & 45 minutes -- same girl asked me to come back for an appointment -- had my dog in the back -- I had to ask twice if she could bring my dog out to me -- she didn't have an answer -- had to insist she bring my dog out to me. Terrible communication and unorganized. I liked this clinic when it was a smaller business with husband and wife vets. Since this clinic has increased in size, I have had a few poor experiences there. They can take me out of their computer, we won't be back. Read Less

Rave: Just took Shyloh for her first ever physio treatment (she's having repeat flare ups of a neck injury and the last one was really bad). She had such an amazing therapist - Pat Lavender at Tri Lake Animal Hospital. People who have met Shyloh know she's had some trauma in her life and has some trust issues. She is slow to approach new people or have them touch her. Pat completely put Shyloh at ease and was able to do a lot of work with her various aches and pains. Shyloh was tired but seemed more relaxed and mobile. And now, later in the day, is still looking and seeming to feel better than she has in about 10-12 months. Trust me when I say that this probably has to be the best vet in the around. I researched and emailed many vets in the and did extensive research into veterinary care in the Kelowna area. Since we are on a budget it was nice to see that the prices were very reasonable in accordance with the care we received there. Coquita Muneca FloraMende Quite the name for a 3.5-month-old puppy. Yet a pup of this fight, strength, and will to live deserved a grand name, and she was living up to it. Coco is from Nicaragua, born under a beat up satellite dish, on the beach. She was a gift to us from a local Jose, whom is the caretaker of a property out front a surf break we occasionally go to. We had awaited her arrival after living without a dog for 2.5 years, and she was all we dreamed of. A wee ball of intelligent joy, who loved the sea, to cuddle and was spicy but not too stubborn or independent. After much homework and preparation, we got her back to Canada, and were looking forward to showing her our northern home. She had been acting tired and quiet for a few days, yet there were many reasons she could have been feeling off. Yet while driving back to our hometown, she began to not want to play, walk or eat. We were happy to find a Vet open on a Sunday, and got her in for some blood work. The statement out of the Vets mouth changed our situation dramatically. This puppy is in a critical state, you need to immediately drive south to the Tri-Lake hospital for a blood transfusion. With a harrowing drive, counting each breath as she slept in my lap, I shook my head at how something could get so serious, so quickly. We sped to the emergency door, to be let in, and eventually told she may not make the night. Her blood count was incredibly low, and there were so many variables on her success. Would she reject the blood, was she too weak, what was the root cause? Turns out she came home with 2 different tick diseases, one that could repeat again in her life. Yet in the words of Dr. Kaplan If your dog were Canadian she would be dead. She is a fighter. She survived the night, and with a new injection of blood and medication she was acting like a real puppy, full of beans, and so happy to see us. Yet another call from the Doc sent my husband across the boarder on the 1st of July to get a drug that was not available in Canada. All arranged by this incredibly caring vet who did not want Coco to have to have another transfusion. 14 hours later Coco was back in my arms, and happy as a clam. Only 3 weeks later she is strong, and fit, and playing in the mountains, thanks to the incredible passion and care of Dr. Kaplan and the Tri Lake Veterinary hospital, as well as the furry blood donor. There are not enough words or thank yous to express our gratitude. All we can do is show Coco one heck of a full life.Read Less

I have been going to Tri Lake Animal Hospital since it opened in Oyama many years ago. They have looked after all my numerous animals and have been the best. Recently we had to make the decision to put our beloved Lab Max to sleep. Dr Kaplan and all the amazing staff were so compassionate .Thay took such wonderful care of Max though out his life and his numerous health issues. Thank you to all the doctors and all the wonderful staff for making a sad decision easier. They are the best and our other dog Belfry will always go there. Continue to do what you do. Read Less

Really caring and professional doctors, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Our dog saw Drs. Wanamaker and Kaplan. Dr. Wanamaker was a saint to put up with our big guy who was suffering quite a bit so was in a bad mood and being difficult. The doctor was patient and thorough and called later that evening to make sure we understood everything he told us. He then offered to switch us to Dr. Kaplan, who knew more about our dog's specific issues. I was really impressed that he cared so much about our pet's treatment that he would recommend a different doctor as a better fit. Dr. Kaplan is very knowledgeable and he has a plan to solve Gimli's recurring health problems for good! Right away after seeing Dr. Wanamaker, he started feeling better and responding well to the treatments he suggested. Brought my 4 year old springer, Mia in for TPLO surgery after having been diagonosed with a total cruciate tear by my own vet. Dr.Bhandal discussed all the options, after which he did the TPLO surgery. He is very professional, caring and experienced in this field. We went back for a month check up and rehab appointment. The staff and facility are amazing and state of the art. The post op instructions and care are very detailed, with nothing left out. I would highly recommend this facility, and Dr. Bhandal. I had a sick little pet bird and I was having a hard time finding an aviary vet.  Trilake Animal Hospital has one.  I can't remember her name but it was a pleasure meeting her and getting her excellent care for my bird.  My bird needed his leg band taken off his wounded leg and he needed post -op antibiotics and ointment   for the wound to heal properly.  He was potentially going to need an amputation but he recovered fully.  I have a happy, healthy little fella again.  :  ) Read Less

Dr Elliot Kaplan is the best vet we have ever had the opportunity to meet.  He is incredibly intelligent, gentle, honest and truly looks out for the best interest of the animals.  The staff are friendly and courteous and the facilities are top notch.  We whole heartedly recommend Dr Elliot and his wonderful staff of surgeons and vet techs.  We wouldn't trust our fur-kid with anyone else, truly as good as it gets.
