No stars for this hell-hole! At the end of June 2023 I took my elderly cat to the St. Rose Clinic for a procedure which he had undergone approximately one year earlier at the Dauphin Clinic (under the care of Dr. Wendy & tech Emily). I naively assumed his care would be as exemplary this visit as it was at the prior visit. What a fatal mistake for my poor, beloved cat! Vets Plett & Steinbachs oversaw his procedure of relieving constipation, as well as a new vet tech, Emily. What was supposed to be an overnight procedure turned into 3 days of torture for my beloved family member. When I came to pick him up (from Lake Mb Narrows) the tech apparently forgot I was coming & was completely "caught off guard" [according to the Practice Manager]. After bringing him home & getting him out of his carrier, my poor cat was covered in dried liquid feces & stunk from laying in his urine & feces for three days. The liquid feces had hardened into cement-hard, spear-like structures around his anus, testicles & stomach area, which must have poked into him at all these sensitive areas. He could NEVER have been cleaned - the poor creature just reeked of urine & feces!! Once home, we found he could not walk, both his back legs were frozen in one position - they could never have turned him or changed his position in all his time there. He could only try to crawl around like a worm - so pathetic!! When I had taken him in for the procedure he could walk, use his scratching post & litter box and climb up onto the back of the sofa to look out the window. I called vet Plett, who was on call that evening & explained that he couldn't even walk and her answer was 'well, he IS an old cat.' I replied that he could certainly walk, etc. when I took him into the clinic and she actually said 'hmmph - maybe try hot compresses, or cold compresses, or massage...' She couldn't have cared less other than I interrupted her evening over an 'old cat.' When I called back the next day Steinbachs said the same (word for word). Our dear family member died overnight that Saturday. Had I only known that the vets & tech had so little regard for a 'well, he IS an old' cat, and that Dr. Wendy had her own clinic at this time, our loved & valued family member might still be here with us Since that time, I had communicated with their "Practice Manager" (who is not very adept at talking out of both sides of her mouth). Needless to say, I will NEVER again take my pets to either clinic where those vets practice. I wish I had known I had options - I just hope this will help other pet owners by letting them know there are other options in Dauphin & they never have to go through the devastating experience our family did. On Monday April 26 we had to put our believed dog of 16 years to sleep. St Rose vet clinic is not our usual clinic but under the circumstances and to avoid a long trip we decided to go to St Rose. Upon arrival I and my wife took our beloved friend and companion into the examination room, she was laying in her sleeper. A man appeared into the room looked at us and reached for a Hair trimmer and started to trim hair from our pets leg. This person never introduced himself or said a word. If it wasn't for my wife asking him if he should ask some questions before euthanizing an animal he didn't know anything about he then said yes I suppose I should. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered, we were about to have our very much loved pet put to sleep, were both very upset and stressed. This person was the most ignorant and as cold as ice that I have ever meet. It seemed that money was his only motivation. This man needs a course in people skills. I would never go to this clinic again. The experience of having you pet put to sleep is one of the most harrowing, sad and stressful experiences a pet owner has to indure. To have a vet that is this ignorant and total cold to his customers feelings under these circumstances should not be performing euthanasia. A Very upset and angry one time customer. Read Less
