i took my dog to this place because i thought she was pregnant. they told me that my dog was not pregnant and that she had a hernia and needed an 800 dollar surgery. i saved my money and i was going to get her surgery done at another hospital. my dog ended up having a puppy two weeks later. after this experience i wouldn't take any of my animals there again. Absolutely loved the service here, they were more than accommodating. The pups were comfortable with the staff and vet, as they were so gentle with them. They don't pressure you into getting things you don't need, very fair and reasonable priced. Definitely recommended to anyone who is searching for a veterinarian who genuinely cares about animals. Love the staff at this office Dr Zheng is the greatest. He even treats guinea pigs and rabbits along with the usual dogs and cats. He also has special aid program conditions and information available on their website. Used to take my dogs out of town but now I bring my animals there. We love going there when they host canine blood donor clinic my dog loves the staff and they are so good at helping blood services take his donation...I have a fearful dog and he is so relaxed with the staff he doesn't want to leave when it is over. I first came across the Animal Hospital of Manitoba when our Doberman named Roxy was hit by a car. My son and I brought her in as we were terrified because we saw her top lip was split open and she had quite a few marks on her body. She ended up having broken front teeth as well which needed to be removed. The staff got Roxy in very quickly and did what they needed to fix our girl up. She healed up nicely and walked out of there a happy girl. I had my file transferred to this clinic as we decided we would like to stick with them from now on. We got a new puppy named Bolt and he now goes there as well. All-in-all, we would recommend the Animal Hospital of Manitoba for your pets needs. Dr. Zheng was pleasant but his type of veterinary practice is not for me. When my husband took my bichon in with what turned out to be cherry eye, he gave my bichon topical antibiotics for his ears when he had no ear infection--I'm not sure if they were meant to be preventative or if he THOUGHT there was an infection but there definitely wasn't. He also sold my husband some ear cleaner (my dog is a very nicely groomed little guy, no ear problems). All-in-all he was very quick to turn to drugs for my dog (on more than one occasion), while I believe that drugs should be used only when necessary. It was for this reason that I quit going to Animal Hospital of MB. Read Less

It can be unnerving going to the VET, you're not only worried about your animal but also your pocket book. My experience at the Animal Hospital of Manitoba has been good. My family pet Phoebe has been going there her whole life (she is currently 14 years old) and it's been great. Myself and my partner, we just purchased a Pomeranian / Beagle cross and she went for her first Vet visit and it went very well! She got a clean bill of health and our visit was informative and full of recommendations, most of which are optional, which lets you make your own choices with regards to your pets health. Always kind and they don't try to push you to purchase things. Everyone is good here. Over Christmas my dog had surgery.the Doctor was amazing, he came in Christmas morning to do the surgery by 11:30 he was done. On boxing day when i went to pick up my puppy I overheard him on the phone with another owner who had been snowed in and wasn't able to come pick up their pet. Dr.Zheng offered to go pick that person up and drive them to the clinic to pick up their pet. I couldn't ask for a better vet. Read Less

My baby Carlos is checked thoroughly and we are talked through the recommendations so that we understand why he needs each treatment. I've delt personally with 2 other vet clinics through My life. So I have much experience with other vets. When we took our dog Bella to this vet clinic. We were very surprised at how much better the care, attitudes of the staff and doctor were and the pricing was better for what we needed done. Ontop of all that that they offer discounts to further help with the ever incurring costs associated with beloved fur babies. Dr Zheng and his Staff have looked after our 2 dogs Charlie & Max for over 7 years . Dr. Zheng is so sincere and so caring for all animals, We would recommend any pet owners to take their pets to see him and his awesome staff....The Dr. and his staff always take time to answer any questions we have (even over the phone) They understand that our pets are our little fur children, We recently took charlie in for a dental cleaning and extraction. I'm so amazed and happy how it turned out. you always here stories about dental work with dogs ...charlies teeth are like brand new teeth sparkly and white and he was only groggy for that 1 day and not sick at all. All of the staff here are great! They were very gentle and efficient with my Minion. My kitty hates vets and I was surprised at how quickly he took to the staff and how they easily got him calm and to accept the procedures they had to do. They were all very caring and understanding, which made us feel like they genuinely cared about our fur baby's health, comfort and well-being. My boyfriend and I have taken both of our American Bulldogs here from when they were just puppies and they're now 2yrs and we love it,, we also bring the puppies to be seen there as well that our big dogs have had and the Dr and staff have been nothing but loving and respectful to our animals. The vet is nice and I always enjoy his part of the visit. He seems concerned and caring as he examins your pet. After the examination  another  staff person comes in to tell you the vets recommendations and discuss the cost. There is always a list of things broken down that the person tells you your pet must have. It is difficult  trying to figure out what is essential for your pet's health and what is not.  This new person seems to be all about the money and does not seem too knowledgable. You feel pressured and guilty about opting out of the recommendations.  My most recent experience I orderd some medication for my dog on Monday. I was told one of the meds was on back order and should be in tues or wed. They said they would call me. On Sat. I called them because I had not heard anything. I asked if the meds I ordered were in ( I asked for each med by name) after quite a few minutes she came back on the phone and told me the meds were there. I told her I will be in today to get them. I walked all the way there and was told that same  med. I was waiting for was on back order. When I expressed that I was angry because I had just phoned, was put on hold while the girl checked and told they were there, I got attitude The girl even lied and said I only asked about  one medication  which made me even more angry. I already knew that one was there.  They told me that on Monday. It did not end pleasently.  I like the vet but I think the staff are rude, insincere and unprofessional. If I am paying more money I expect better service. Quality service.I will never go back and will never recommend this place to anybody else. Read Less

i had taken my cat here to get a check up cause she was throwing up after eating. The doctor told me she needed surgery to check for clogged intestines. Two thousand dollars later it turns out that my cat just needs Ranitodine (a stomach antacid) so for the next 2 years i buy the medication from the vet without problems. suddenly on my next time to get the medication, i am told by a couple of very rude staff that my cat needs to be brought in for an examination, which is going to cost me an extra 70 dollars. this is clearly nothing more then a cash grab. then the vet tells me that they will not give my cat medication unless i bring her in for that examination. clearly this vet puts money before animal safety and comfort. this is Ranitodine were talking about, any one can buy it over the counter from safeway. I called my pharmacy and will be getting my cats meds from them for now on. I WILL NEVER return my pet to this veterinarian. NEVER!!! Read Less

First off, the receptionists are so snobby and unwelcoming. As soon as I walked in the door they looked at me like I was interrupting their very important sitting around. Second, I took my Pomeranian were for a nail trimming since it's close. I had called before hand to let them know I was coming for a nail trimming and when I got there 5 minutes later they said they'll have to see if the groomer will take him. But, I just got confirmation over the phone that she would? Anyway, he did get a trimming. But his nails were jagged and uneven and were still too long! For $17 I would really expect something better. Sooo disappointing, you and your fur baby deserve better service than this, choose someplace else. Read Less

We were very pleased with the wealth of information the clinic staff shared with us.  We had no idea about some many options for care of our old dog, we were hesitant about lots of drugs for her arthritis.  They suggested herbal remedies, laser therapy, a food option....  She is doing great with the use of the non traditional medicine Dr. Zheng prescribed for her.  She is a big dog so we want to have her as long as we can.  Thanks Dr.Zheng Read Less

Do not bring your pets here if you want them to live!It was my first dog that I adopted and she was already at age 12+, I've never been to a vet before and one day she vomit and couldn't walk and her eyes were moving from left to right nonstop it looked very scary but she was still happy, eating and smiling.I was worried and called her previous owner to find out where they used to take her.  Unfortunately, Machray animal hospital was full house that day and also could not locate her file.  So I went to Animal Hospital of Manitoba and it was Dr. Zheng that help us.He took a look at my dog ran some expensive test and even an x-ray and racked up the bill of $550 and told me that my dog had cancer b/c she has these lumps on her body and then told me that my dog may never walk again!  He even said there could be a brain tumor that causes her to lose her mobility.  He took a sample of the lump to test them but he would have to send it to the lab the next day and find out.He suggested to do brain surgery for my dog and she will be in the hospital for 1 full week and it will cost me another $1500 but he cannot guarantee that she will be walking again  then he suggested to put my dog down immediately and gave me the speech of how it's all about the quality of life.  It was took much for me to make that decision myself so I waited for my sister and my dog's previous owner to come take a look of her.Her previous owner suggested to have a second opinion which I had no idea that we can do that.  After making the entire family crying all night thinking my dog has cancer, the next day we took her to Machray Animal Hospital and they found her file and this time, Dr. Macdonell only gave her a physical exam $90 and she was able to tell me that my dog only has geriatric vestibular disease  which comes and goes in dogs.  She said she will slap out of it within a few days and go back to almost normal.  Within 3 days, my dog started walking again and no more weird eye movement, she was left with a small head tilt from this incident.  I did however get those lumps tested and Dr. Macdonell got back to me that those lumps were just fatty lumps and not cancer.I was so upset  with Dr. Zheng and remembered that he also took a sample of those lumps?  I even paid $90 for that and after I've asked for a second opinion, he never got those lumps tested nor gotten back to me.So I have filed this incident to Veterinarian Association of Manitoba, all I had to do was email the person that was in charge of these cases and also forward her my receipts.  She even told me that as long as you saved your receipts and got second opinion, and if the vet was wrong, you can get some of your money back.So I have gotten $360 back from Animal Hospital of Manitoba.I've also spoke with many other people online and they too experienced the same thing but unfortunately they listened to Dr. Zheng and put their dogs down :(  I've also found out that when the animal services (city's pound) get sick dogs in or ones that are too aggressive to be adopted out and they have to be put down, they send them to him(Dr. Zheng)!!!!  Doesn't that make sense now?  He enjoys killing animals and getting rich of it.  His clinic is quite fancy and there was this hidden room that I saw with a huge plasma tv on the wall and leather suede couch for him to enjoy and this was back in 2007by the way, my dog lived for another 2 years at age 15.
