I am writing this complaint about the very unpleasant appointment I had at your clinic when I took my cat there on July 3/18. I was given Dr. Bularca for the appointment and I found that his attitude was extremely disrespectful as soon as I told him my husband and I are semi-retired and are on a limited budget and can't afford a "specialized" diet. He immediately treated me like I couldn't be bothered to take proper care of my pets, was not willing to spend enough money and was therefore wasting HIS time. He barely looked at her! If this vet had bothered to check our records, we have had 5 animals at this clinic and we have spent thousands on their care! Dr. Bulcarca even threw in some nasty comments when I went to pay the bill (which was around $160)! I was talking to the nice girl at the counter about how I, a person without professional knowledge, believed the skin condition is triggered by heat, he walks by and says "That, and other things - but whatever - you don't want to listen!" Well, I hear you, Dr. Bularca, and we will be going to another veterinary clinic where hopefully, the customer and their pets are BOTH treated well. Read Less

I am always completely satisfied with the care and consideration given by the staff and doctors at McPhillips Animal Hospital. I was there on Friday and a lady with a dog said that her dog loves going there better than anywhere else. Manager Cheryl was very rude when I put in a complaint.  When I first called about cat grooming there answer was yes we groom cats.  First time was very gd. ��Next time bad job done.  Third time the person that was grooming my cat cut his whiskers.  That person did not come and tell me what happened.  I got my cat home and called back, told them she cut his whiskers.  Oh it was an accident.  So dis-honest that you could not tell me before I went home.  Would not trust those people working there.  Talked to mgr.  and she talked over me.  Made it sound like I was the liar, that the person grooming said his wiskers were fine.  Would not recommend this Mcphillips Animal Hospital to anyone I know. The staff and veterinarians at this clinic truly care about the animals and their owners. The compassion they show in their actions and words is beyond description. Any time I've brought my dogs there, they were excited and couldn't wait to get inside for their love and treats. I trust this clinic completely with all my pets. I recommend them highly Read Less

On August 2017, I brought my dog in last minute because he became suddenly sick. The vet said that there was no other way to help but to put him down. As much as I do appreciate their efforts to taking a look at him in the condition that he was in. I did make it a request to receive the prints of his paws sent to me as that was an option that I was told. I waited for weeks thinking maybe it would have been mailed to me. It’s now April 2018 and I still haven’t received anything so I found that super disappointing that something as simple as a print of his paws were not sent to me. Read Less

This is a great place to bring your pet, they assist you very well give you all the information that you need. my dog started having seizures and I can call them anytime and try to book me an appointment with short notice, they also give me follow up call of how my dog is. I was there with a friend and her cat that was to be euthanized. It was a delicate situation but everyone handled it superbly. Even the vet mentioned that no matter how often he has to euthanize a pet, it is never a routine for him. He truly cares and feels for the animal and their loved ones present - is how I experienced it. Read Less

First time visiting with my 10 week old kitten. Great experience, they had a room ready for me and my pet right away. They explained everything that needed to be done that day and explained in detail whats to come for me and my cat as he gets older. They definitely made this experience easy for me and my animal. At the end of November I unfortunately had to bring my second dog here to be euthanized. I had brought with my her favourite blanket to be cremated with. Upon leaving the clinic I had asked that she be cremated with her blanked. Well when we got the urn with her ashes, they also handed us a bag.. with her blanket. It seems they forgot or merely disregarded my request altogether. I would expect a little more professionalism from a place such as this considering they deal with sensitive incidents on a daily basis..It seems they are just there to get your money and aren't too concerned on what their actions are on how to get it.. Obviously they were unable to resolve this issue, and simply got a "I'm sorry response" -in an unconcerned tone. Completely upset with this matter. Also a few years ago I had initially brought my other dog here to be vaccinated, etc. About a year after that I was up north for work and had received a letter. They had sent there condolences for the loss of my dog... who was still alive. They sent a picture that they had taken when I first brought her in with a heart on it and everything. It really would of been touching if my dog had actually passed away. Imagine my concern to find out "my dog had died" while in the care of my friends. I frantically called them trying to figure out what was going on or how she died, only to learn that the hospital made a huge error. Very disorganized business. Read Less

I've had pets all my life in many cities internationally and I've never avoided a necessary visit to the doc for any of them. I started bringing my dog here because of proximity, but in retrospect, I would travel a vast distance to keep my pup in their care. It's not only my experience with the staff and doctor himself, but meeting those patients' parents in the waiting room who profess their content regarding their own pets in cases that go so far as rebounding from near death. I appreciate everything about these people and this place, but most of all I'm grateful that an animal doctor understands the love I have for my 4 legged family members and genuinely care about our quality of life. We've been bringing our dogs to McPhillips for more than 30 years now. My latest dog and cat are always treated with the greatest care. All the doctors and staff are amazing with the animals. The care given by the staff is top notch! Read Less

I came in here a couple weeks before Christmas and the staff tried to completely take advantage of me, and arguably did. I went in to get the second round of shots for my dog. I asked a couple of questions, "how do I clean her ears? how do I safely trim her nails?" I've never had a dog indoors for long enough that the nails never stayed short. "No problem, I'll have a nurse show you how to do it, it's SUPER easy". So she swabs our girls ears and leaves, then a nurse comes in and doesn't explain but insists on demonstrating how to cut the nails. Well a simple instruction like "slowly and not too short" would've sufficed, it sure isn't rocket science. Then she gave the kennel cough vaccine and I'm 90% certain that it all shot over her head and in her eye, none of it in her nose. Long story less long than it could be, I got to the counter to pay and leave just to be given a bill for $170 instead of the $50 I was told. They tacked on money for the nail clipping, antibiotics (that I wasn't told were prescribed or necessary), the inspection of the ear wax sample (which I NEVER asked for) and I can't recall off hand what else. I told them to take the antibiotics back, I didn't want them. I looked at the bill and didn't argue all of the other charges because they were services rendered and I'm not a douche (even though I didn't ask for them, and wasn't informed they were additional expenses). The girls looked at me like I morphed into satan in front of them. Called someone from the back to say that "he doesn't want these" so that they could take 'em back after glaring at me as though hoping to instill shamefullness. The next day I got a call from them and they left a message. "Hi Mr W, so sorry about your appointment last night. I didn't realize that this appointment was 8 weeks after the first vaccine appointment. We're going to have to have her back in in 4 weeks because this innoculation won't be effective, too much time has passed." Honestly, I will never set foot back in this place. I have half a mind to track down the manager and demand my money back. I simply can't believe that a business can get away with such a incompetent and unprofessional service. Be warned. I brought my dog in for surgery. I could not pick him up until 2pm and JADE was nice enough to take him out to use the washroom. She told me that she put on his little sweater as well. I appreciate this, as my old vet never did anything like this for me. You walk into the clinic and you can feel that everyone truly loves what they do, and you can really place your trust in them. The staff here are truly caring and take the time to remember all the details. We are always greeted with a friendly smile and a "It's Winston!" And then he gets a cuddle! They are always patient and accommodating when scheduling or rescheduling an appt. What an amazing group of people! Read Less

The vet Dr. Bularca is terrible. I adopted a female cat from them and paid $150 for a black cat, which was to include the spay and first shots. I thought well seems like they are trying to do a good thing here so I went with them. About 2 months after her spay, she started doing the howling and rubbing like she was in heat. I researched why that would be happening and found sometimes things are accidentally left in which will cause a cat to go through the motions of being in heat. Since she's a small cat (9lbs) I can understand missing something so I spoke with the doctor and he was adamant that he's done hundreds of these without issue. But they agreed to take her overnight. Well since she wasn't comfortable she stopped the crying and rubbing. So I took her back home. About a month later she did the same, so again I took her to the vet and played him a video showing her crying, And he replied well it does seems like she's going through the heat motions, he then started going back and forth with what could be done and that most of the tests would fail. At no time did he suggest doing an ultrasound without me having to pay extra. He said I should surrender her back to them and in time if they feel she's doing what I say, they'll operate. My issue is why would they agree to maybe operate at a later time but not take immediate responsibility on the work preformed? They will be taking a cat from a good home and now have to house and feed the cat. Not to mention the $ they are losing by me not taking the cat in for it's yearly shots etc. I feel like they did it on purpose to get me to pay more. Anyone can adopt a cat for free and spays cost less than $100. Now the poor cat is suffering and I won't pay $800 for exploratory surgery. So for the first time in over 20 years of caring for creatures I have to surrender my cat back to them. I only hope they do what's right and fix her properly. Long story short save your money and DO NOT GO TO MCPHILLIPS ANIMAL HOSPITAL! Read Less

Easily one the nicest vet clinics I've been to. Its prices are very reasonable, and the staff are fantastic. I brought 4 cats in for checkups and shots and such, and one the vet techs shuffled me into a room and a vet was in there assessing and taking care of my cats in all of 10 minutes. Everything was explained to me very thoroughly, and they answered all of my retarded questions with patience and understanding. The only issue I had was parking as this clinic is in a strip mall and shares parking with a bunch of other places. A small complaint, but one worth noting.
