This by far the worst veterinary organization I have ever experienced. My first experience happened, when I was away on a holiday in the US & we discovered that my one dog was diabetic. The kennel took her in for me (none of us knew she was diabetic at this point), the woman at the kennel told me she had had bad experiences with them, but it was the only vet we knew in the city, as we had recently moved to Winnipeg. I then received a call from one of the vets saying that we should really put her out of her misery. I happened to have been with my son then this call came in, so I told them to let me discuss this with him, so we could make a decision. Then about 140 minutes later we received another call, saying that she had made a miraculous recovery, so they now had to run a pile of tests. These tests did determine that she was diabetic & when we returned home, I was hit with a $3990 bill. Then it got really fun, no one there seemed to know anything about diabetic care, except that we had to buy this really expensive dog food, that amazingly enough, only Vets sold it! When I questioned this to multiple staff members, "so you can't tell me that all diabetic dogs, have to eat this same food", "there must be an alternative"? I was met with shrugs & "gee, I really don't know" answers. No one there could even answer any question I had about administering the insulin & determining how much to give her. I complained about this enough, that they had the Business Manager call me & email back and forth a few times. These conversations only really lead to her getting the 1 vet, that "she said", knew about diabetic care, to finally meet with us. This was better, because I'm sure that she had done some reading, but she was the only one that really seemed to give a shit. I continued to go to them after this, from purely a convenience factor & because, at least they knew my dogs history & honestly, not really knowing how to determine or having the time to determine what would be better for my animals. At least I knew enough, to watch for them trying to scam me? This dog is still with us & eats Purina Pro Plan, with no issues. Figures! Then about a year or 2 later, one of my other dogs had a weird growth on his front paw which he couldn't stop licking & it was now an open sore, this time they determined that it was probably cancer. Then they gave two different treatment alternatives, one was about $2000 & the other was about $1200. I should note that neither treatment was a cure for this, but only a way to figure out if it definitely was cancer. The more expensive, would remove this growth the first would not. They also made a point of saying that, "because this sore was on his front paw, it will spread much more rapidly, so it's important to deal with this now"!Now I'm in sales, so I know the thought process behind giving a customer 2 alternatives, a person will usually pick one. Also at this time my finance, in her past life had worked as a vet tech, so I was a lot more informed than I was before. She as well figured that this again was a scam, so at this point, we did nothing, as he was 15 years old & the anaesthetic probably would have killed him anyhow. So we used a cream on the sore & cones around his neck for a few weeks and it went away. Also important to note is, that I was in the backyard at one point, when he had the cone still on & I got stung by wasps that had built a nest right under a board, that just happened to be in exactly the same place that my dog would stand, for long periods of time...waiting for the neighbours dogs to come out. So my spidey senses are now telling me, that this sore was most likely a wasp bite. I have since moved to a new vet (Central Vet), after some research from & at the advice of my finance. They have been amazing & every time I'm there, I marvel at how little the bill is. I guess with how badly I was taken advantage of by Southglen, anything would seem cheaper? Lol. We now have 4 dogs to deal with & we couldn't be happier. Stay away from these people, if you love your pets & value your money. Read Less
