I took my kitten in to have him checked. He was having some issues and just didn’t seem himself. We got him to the vet all good and they kept him overnight to be sure he was okay. They performed several procedures and tests to ensure he was okay, but told me they couldn’t get a sample of pee because he just wouldn’t. I live not even 2 minutes from their clinic and he peed in his crate on the way home, so I found this hard to believe. But, they sent me home with pills to crush up in his food and a liquid medication for him. After finishing the round of medication, I noticed the same behaviour in him, this time worse. I took him in in the morning, and they told me when I picked him up that had I left it until I got home from work, I would have found him dead. They treated him for a UTU when in reality he had crystals (similar to kidney stones). They treated him for this UTI and made his condition worse, almost to the point of death,which they admitted. They then told me I had to have him on a special vet recommended food that cost 150$ a bag, and told me he would be in danger of death if I fed him anything else. I bought the bag, and have since switched his food from the formula to a simple wet food, and he’s doing better then when I’m the recommended formula. After all of this, they made me pay for the procedures and tests they performed the first and second time, including paying for the medications both times, when the first time around they put my baby in danger. My dog loves him, she lets him pick her up and she doesn't let anyone (especially men) pick her up. Seriously shes known my sisters for 15 years as children and she doesn't trust them that much. If I think something's wrong, I'll come in any time and not feel like we're a waste of their time or an inconvience. I like feeling like my dog is the priority because she is to me. If you're looking for a veterinary hospital in or around Fredericton, Hometown Vet is the best spot to go. Moving from PEI to Fredericton we were nervous on finding a reliable vet that we could trust, and we had one bad experience at another vet when we first moved here. We quickly needed to find another vet to rectify the issue that arose from a misdiagnosis at another vet and Hometown did it. Not only has Hometown provided the absolute best care for our dogs, they've walked us through the steps after and the recovery every step of the way. What is even better is how much they all genuinely care about your pets, with check up calls and after surgery we needed to e-mail the DR and he responded promptly to ensure our dog was OK. Our dog has now gone through 2 surgeries at Hometown Veterinary Clinic, our new Puppy has had all of her needles and the other dog has her 1st appointment coming up. Going to the vet doesn't have to make you nervous or anxious, not if you're at the right vet, one that you can trust that is honest and reliable but more importantly puts the pets first. Hometown Vet is hands down the BEST vet that we have ever been to. Dr Bill is so helpful and hands on, he gets right down on the floor with our cat and half of the time he answers the phone himself. 5 stars to all of the staff at Hometown Vet Hospital! It may not have ended in our favour, our poor Chloe crossed that rainbow bridge, but she was in extremely good care through the whole process. Dr. Chelsea and Dr. Bill were truly invested in figuring out what was wrong and helping our girl. They did everything they could do, and was very considerate of our financial situation. Unfortunately our Chloe had an incurable disease, and as soon as they found out they didn't want her to suffer any longer. Cannot say enough wonderful things about these guys. After moving here with our 7yr old Rotti, who has a really hard time with vets, they bent over backwards with their availability to help us with some sudden issues; showing lots of patience and creative ways to sedate her for xrays and surgery. Hometown Veterinary Hospital is by far the best Veterinary Hospital I have ever taken my dogs to. Dr. Huttges was very gentle and thorough during the exam and Vaccination of our Dogs and called the following day to check on his patients. the cost of vaccination / exam was a lot cheaper than our previous clinic in Fredericton.
