Bedford Highway Veterinary Hospital in Bedford, NS, is a full service companion animal hospital. We are located at 936 Bedford Highway in beautiful Bedford, Nova Scotia. We are a family-owned practice serving families and their pets in Bedford, Hammonds Plains, Sackville, Clayton Park, and Fall River for over 25 years. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.

Be warned - this IS the most expensive vet in HRM. If you think you are paying for experienced vets, you're not. Here is an example - my cat needs a cardiac ultrasound. The ONLY Dr. who does this in t...
Be warned - this IS the most expensive vet in HRM. If you think you are paying for experienced vets, you're not. Here is an example - my cat needs a cardiac ultrasound. The ONLY Dr. who does this in the maritimes (Dr. Rist) charges $350. Bedford HWY charges the customer an ADDITIONAL $150 - for "admin" fees. Other vets charge between $50-75 additional to cover the cost of renting a room for an hour. The exact same doctor - the exact same service.
Bedford HWY also charges $25 per pet to trim their nails with the purchase of an $85 "check up" - I called 5 other vet clinics, and they offer this service complimentary with a check up, or $16 to walk in.
BTW wondering what a check up is: check weight, look at teeth, listen to heart. That'll be $85 Plus 15% HST please.

Great place to bring pets. Sweet, knowledgeable and compassionate people. The vet assistants are wonderful also. Hope they remain in business at this location for many years to come.

Always available, knowledgeable and friendly. Diagnosed leptospirosis and started treatment very quickly leading to a fast recovery.

I happened upon this spot to buy some cat food after being unable to make the business hours of my regular vet. I walked in and got my usual, vet recommended food and sauntered up to the cash to pay. After having a very informative conversation with the lady behind the desk it turns out I've been buying the wrong food, and the right food was actually $10/ bag cheaper. Will I be coming here to buy my cat food from now on? You betcha.

The cost of owning a dog is already expensive and every trip to the vet is another credit card payment.With that said, we bring both the dog & cat to this location for a number of reasons, but the main thing is that they are thorough and isn't that what that counts?Husband & wife vet own this location and offer the similar small animal services along with pet food selection. The front staff are always nice, even on the phone when the dog ate something he shouldn't.Reminders are sent via mail for the upcoming shots, the location is bright & clean.For serious issues that require an overnight, you might have to transfer the pet to the metro vet hospital in burnside since they are closed at 8.
