Be very wary of this clinic!!! They will quote you a price over the phone but will more than double it when you get there. Their idea of examining your pet is lifting up a lip and picking it up and putting it back down. No checking ears, no thorough examination of the mouth, no feeling around the body for anything at all. And they want to charge over 100$ for this. I wanted my cat euthanized to end his suffering as he was very old but left with him to suffer some more because of these so call veterinarians trying to scam me out of more than the agreed $138. I will never take any of my pets there again. Left feeling like I was a sucker that came through the door and could be taken advantage of. NEVER AGAIN!! We adopted two fancy rat brothers on Wednesday. As soon as we got them home we noticed health issues. One little guy had some pretty severe dental issues. I called the clinic the same day. I was NOT a former client but the receptionist was very knowledgable and professional on the phone. She said she would need to confer with the technician and the doctor and she'd get back to me. The next day there was a message on my phone. My return call got us an appointment the following evening. All of the staff that we met were wonderful ! They were very kind and gentle with the animals and took the time to really explain things.They trimmed our little fellows teeth and took great care that he be pain free and at minimal risk for infection. PetFocus Harbour Cities is the best of care all around! The staff are fun and caring people. I go in for my cat's food each month and I am always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. When my Kitty is due for her exam, they call me to remind me which is really helpful. Once Kitty was sick and they fixed her up right away. The bill was a little high but they explained that they had done and exam, x-rays, an injection and take home meds. I felt heard and understood the fees. Read Less

This was my first time at this vet, they fit my bunny in for an emergency appointment as she was not feeling well. Dr. M. Parent was the vet that looked after my bunny and she was so sweet and so knowledgeable and provided expert care for my bunny. She made sure to take the time with me to explain what was going on and made sure I understood how to continue to care for the bunny at home to help her recover. I took my two cats there for a vaccine and a checkup. The staff is absolutely wonderful and did everything they could to make sure my cats were comfortable, even my very timid male cat. Dr Marryatt was so sweet and kind with both of them and took her time. I really wish I had caught the nurse's name because she was also amazing with the cats. I felt welcome and did not feel judged at all there. The price was a little more than some other hospitals but it is completely worth it to make sure my babies are well taken care of. I've gone to this vet a few times & so far both times where very good experiences. The second trip I had to bring my cat in because that morning he had had a seizure, the receptionist was very calm and nice and helped calmed me down since I was in tears and in a panic. The vets were very sweet and very helpful. The only reason I'm not giving this place a perfect score is because of the price, it's very expensive and when your a low-income family it gets hard to pay the cost. But even then the doctors and the help are very cooperative and try to help you they best they can! ~Edit~ Found out that it really depends on the doctor you see. The last few times I've had very caring doctors but today I had one that didn't seem to really care whether my pet was sick or not. The doctor had a very "meh, it's not like I can do anything" attitude, which was very disheartening. And after being told quite a few time by the doctor in my previous visit with him that they wouldn't give him another check-up (because they know he's physically healthy) this one does. Now I have no problem paying the money, just wish it was to help firgured out what was wrong him instead of collecting data they already had. :( Read Less

I  first visited here with my ' furrypurry ' 2 mos ago when he had a sudden eye issue...he was in so much pain  but was so good about it..I was panicked and they got me I mean him right away....    the vet was so empathic to his needs and in addressing his pain...   she identified the issue  immediately and correctly and within 48 hours he was already back to his usual cute playful  self  ..he was so thankful I got  extra  'kitty kisses n kuddles'...though Iam sure the vet earned them and not me... Since Tim has taken leave this hospital has been using vets that do not know much about rabbits. We had our rabbit over for a grinding issue and while the vet found nothing wrong we decided to try a different hospital and that vet found a really simple tooth issue doing the same oral exam the Harbour cities vet did and found nothing. Longtime client here. I find the experience depends on which vet you get. Dr. Vaughan and Dr. Marriott are very good and they deserve 5 stars. Others, not so much, which brings the overall rating down. I had an extremely bad experience with one of the male vets who seemed to simply not want to help. It made me wonder if he just hated animals generally or cats in particular. The staff have generally been very good over the years. I continue to go here but am careful to make sure I get one of the two doctors I mentioned.Read Less

I want to echo the well-deserved praise given by others here. Both of my cats were rescue cats from the SPCA, and one came from a hoarding situation that must have been really terrifying because he hid inside the back of our couch the whole first month we had him. We had to just let him be and put food out for him to get at times when he didn't have to encounter humans. He was about 6 months old when we got him. Now, two years later, he's a giant-sized, loving lap cat, but he still hides when strangers come to our house, and he shook violently at vets visits before. We just switched to Harbour Cities Vet on Wyse Rd., and while our fluffy guy was a bit timid on the first visit, he wasn't terrified. The whole staff here is loving and peaceful in their demeanor. The waiting area is calm and doesn't have a rushed assembly-line feeling to it. I had to take our other cat back for a follow-up visit and saw a different vet. Both doctors were great.I  feel confident that these vets are not out to sell me whatever they can persuade me to buy. I trust their judgment and advice. I have also felt listened to there regarding concerns I have about pet products and treatments in general. They answered all the questions I had.  I really recommend this place. Read Less

You can really tell that the staff at this hospital love animals. Every one of them fawns over every animal that comes through the door as though it is the cutest thing they've ever seen. It really makes you feel comfortable with them handling your pet. They are very attentive to your comments , and make sure to make your pet feel comfortable. They also have kitten and puppy packages, which cover their needles, a check up, and a dose of a multipurpose pest killer, for a low cost of $108, taxes in. I took my kitten here for her checkup and to be spayed. The office kept me well informed of what the procedure entailed, called me after her surgery to update me, and were very forthcoming with how to care for her at home. They also provide a free post-surgery checkup 10-12 days later so you can make sure your pet is healing correctly. Both the vet and vet tech who cared for my kitten took the time to stop and speak to me, to ensure that I knew everything possible to take the best care of her when she got home. And they also sent her home with a free blanket. When I was overcharged for a procedure, they called me immediately upon realizing the error and promptly refunded the excess with no issues. My little gerbil Xena, recently was found with a little lump on her tummy. We were immediately concerned and decided a vet trip was in order. This is our first time finding a veterinarian in the HRM. I did a search for places that could deal with exotics. We called one location and they basically laughed at us, even though it said they deal with exotics on our website. Dr. Faro normally works out of the Clayton Park location but is at Harbour Cities on Friday's. The receptionist was extremely sweet and prompt. We were looked after within 10 minutes of walking in the door. Dr. Faro was extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The surgical route would cost over 700 dollars so he told us we can just keep an eye on it and watch for any changes. He said that even if he is not in this office, they can track him down and he will even write a prescription for antibiotics over the phone if need be. I was very impressed with the service here and really thankful for such an immensely kind veterinarian who understands rodents. Read Less

I became a proud owner of my new puppy back in June and knew that I had to start calling around to get pricing from vets for needles and neutering. The staff at Harbor Cities are great. They are friendly, happy to see us, and even remembered our names after only one visit! The prices are great. We got the "Puppy Package", which was extremely affordable. We opted to see different vets every time we went because it fit our schedule better (they are open until 8pm most nights!) and each vet knew exactly what we were there for, what we needed, and what has happened.My doggie has separation anxiety and they were very helpful with all their recommendations on how to help him. His neuter was great. Everything but the blood work was covered in the price.. no extra hidden costs of antibiotics and pain killers - they are all included in the price.I needed to take my cat in last week for a check up and have a tooth removed. Most vets in the area will immediately tell you he needed dental surgery and a cleaning (which is normally big bucks!). The vet took a good look at the tooth and deemed that they could pull it out with very little discomfort to my cat. One swift pull and he was all better! A round of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and he is back to being happy and healthy, and my bank account is not broken!I highly recommend Harbour Cities! Read Less
