And they had issues
So I ask why didn't someone come out from behind the front counter and tell us this, people waiting for me thinking the worst since vet visits are pretty quick
Stay away from this place unprofessional and no ethics

My rabbit was not seen by Russell Lake and died a slow painful death to GI stasis. He was diagnosed over the phone to not be an emergency and I was given medical advice not to feed emergency rescue food and booked an appointment for 3 days in the future. The rabbit veterinarian, Dr. Samm, who would normally perform the diagnosis was not in. He had the typical signs of GI stasis and anyone with the slightest bit of medical knowledge would have known.
I was given inconsistent stories by the staff afterwards. The manager said I talked with a veterinarian but I was told by Dr. Samm that veterinarians never take front line calls. The call was never re-routed or put on hold. Further, the clinic declined to give the name of the supposed veterinarian. I consider it unlikely that I did talk with a veterinarian and more likely they lied as unqualified medical advice was given, but I will probably never know.
At minimum the clinic should have referred me to Metro Emergency, rather than pretending they had competency in rabbits. From the moment I called I was given a negative attitude, which also is strange given that they advertise emergency services. The clinic is not capable of providing rabbit services or emergency services as advertised.

Honestly had such an incredible experience for my dogs first visit. Both the vet and the vet tech were extremely patient and knowledgeable. They took the extra time and steps to make sure my dogs and myself were comfortable and to make sure that I had total understanding of my pet's care. Highly reccomend.

Like most people, our dog Frank is like a family member to us and we love him so dearly. New to the Halifax area, we were determined to find Frank the best care possible. After some research and a survey of the veterinarians in the Halifax area, we decided on Russell Lake for both their excellent reputation and reasonable costs. Our visit yesterday affirmed our decision. Dr. Barkai is incredibly patient, sweet, and caring with Frank. He has never had such a positive and calm experience at a veterinarian clinic before. Her patience and compassionate disposition ensure us that his health is in the best care. Plus, she always makes a personal phone call to check up and see how our guy is doing. Honestly - sweestest vet ever! We will definitely be coming back here and would recommend them for your animal's care.

Even though our dog required extensive dental surgery the staff of Russell Lake Animal Hospital (Dr. Barkhai, Lisamarie, Melissa and everybody else involved in Milo's care pre/during/after surgery) tended to Milo with the utmost care were and are very professional/personable with the required after care along with following up on his recovery. Russell Lake Animal Hospital is highly recommended for your pet care needs. We hope this doesn't sound like a commercial, but we've dealt with many different vets in the past and none of them has earned praise from our family and RLAH deserves it. We live in Lakeside, but well worth the travel. Thank you, Milo and family.

I stayed with this vet after the kitties I adopted through a local rescue had been fixed and vetted there. I am so glad I did. The staff are amazing and always fit us in, help us with emergencies, calm any concerns we have, and recently helped our 19 year old cat cross the rainbow bridge. They are so kind, loving, and compassionate. We live in clayton park but drive all that way because we want our fur babies to see the BEST :)

After some research and a survey of the veterinarians in the Halifax area, we decided on Russell Lake for both their excellent reputation and reasonable costs. Our visit yesterday affirmed our decision. Dr. Barkai is incredibly patient, sweet, and caring with Frank. He has never had such a positive and calm experience at a veterinarian clinic before. Her patience and compassionate disposition ensure us that his health is in the best care. Plus, she always makes a personal phone call to check up and see how our guy is doing. Honestly - sweestest vet ever! We will definitely be coming back here and would recommend them for your animal's care.
Oh, and they take Air Miles! ;)

Even though our dog required extensive dental surgery the staff of Russell Lake Animal Hospital (Dr. Barkhai, Lisamarie, Melissa and everybody else involved in Milo's care pre/during/after surgery) tended to Milo with the utmost care were and are very professional/personable with the required after care along with following up on his recovery. Russell Lake Animal Hospital is highly recommended for your pet care needs. We hope this doesn't sound like a commercial, but we've dealt with many different vets in the past and none of them has earned praise from our family and RLAH deserves it. We live in Lakeside, but well worth the travel. Thank you, Milo and family.

I stayed with this vet after the kitties I adopted through a local rescue had been fixed and vetted there. I am so glad I did. The staff are amazing and always fit us in, help us with emergencies, calm any concerns we have, and recently helped our 19 year old cat cross the rainbow bridge. They are so kind, loving, and compassionate. We live in clayton park but drive all that way because we want our fur babies to see the BEST :)
