We've taken our puppy here late at night twice. The staff are wonderful, especially the vet that we met both times. The price is reasonable, especially given the time of day we've gone. It's nice to know that there's someone to turn to after hours, doubly so given their reasonable prices--we decided not to try Metro Animal Emergency Clinic due to multiple reviews mentioning extortionate examination fees. Four paws is an excellent vet. We had to put down our beautiful lady and they were so kind and compassionate. We now have a puppy and they continue to give great service. I definitely recommend this business. I love that they are 24 hour. We have visited late several times. Excellent service and they really care for the well being of for animals. They recommend the best options but also consider that not everyone can cover the costs. They are upfront with the costs during their discussions so you can make realistic decisions on the care for your pet. 24 hour service means you can always bring them in when something comes up. I wrote the below 5-star review in Nov 2016 after my first visit to 4 Paws. I've since made many trips and have generally been satisfied with the care my cat has received. I have, however, come to share some of the concerns of other 4 Paws reviewers. Appointments have never been on time. I have waited a minimum of 45 minutes for each appointment- and I have had many- that's a lot of time wasted just sitting around, and a lot of unnecessary additional stress on my cat. The administrative aspect of 4 Paws could also use improvement. I special order medicine. Twice my order was never put through, then an additional 3 or 4 times the order never arrived or it arrived and no one called me. I follow-up with them, and each time I am informed the medicine was yet to arrive and I am to wait for a phone call. This has resulted in missed medication for a long-term medicine, despite me giving enough time for the medicine to be ordered. On another occasion, the medicine could not be found, so I bought a liquid version. As soon as I arrived home, I had a call that the medicine had been found, only I could not get a refund on the liquid medicine as it had left the clinic, and I had to pay for the special order- which was my mistake, I should not have agreed to paying for both when the error was 4 Paws'. Mistakes happen, but when they repeatedly happen, there is an issue. How mistakes are dealt is also indicative of professionalism, empathy and care. It is concerning when no response is given to any of the concerns on this Google page, and especially not to a phone call about almost euthanizing a dog (see review below)! That being said, I am still happy with the care my cat received when we do finally see a Vet at our appointments. If my time and the stress of my cat, however, continues to be disrespected, and if there are not improvements in administration and medication continues to be missed, I will be considering another Vet, which is unfortunate. A lot of little things are very well cared for... it's the bigger things they seem to be currently lacking on. Review Nov 2016 Was pleasantly surprised at how nice and supportive Dr. Slater, or Emma, and the 4 Paws clinic was! I arrived home late afternoon on a Sunday from being away for a day, to find that my kitty had a rough 24 hours and had a raw tail. We went to 4 Paws as it was the only place open. Not only is the clinic beautiful, Dr Emma was very knowledgeable, friendly, and supported me in a way I have never been supported at a vet clinic before! I was offered and given a coffee, and provided care options, including being asked whether or not I wanted to be / was comfortable being present for any procedures (shots etc). They have taken such good care of my pup. He had to have surgery and they didn't care that I called a hundred times. Always up front about costs, and never once felt pushed into doing anything unnecessary. He loves to be next to people and they were so sweet and took him to sit at the desk for a while, which shows how much they care. I know he's not in the clear yet, but I feel good that if he can't be with me, he's in the best care possible. HIGHLY recommend this place. I will never take him anywhere else. Read Less

I contacted 4 Paws to inquire if they do pet grooming and about having my Ragdoll cat shaved and groomed. They replied that they do grooming and would do my cat, but he would have to be sedated - which I objected to. He has been shaved and groomed 3 times in the past and all the groomers commented that he was no problem to deal with and a pleasure to do. After approx. an hour they came out and said that they were going to stop - he was becoming 'agitated' and did not want to 'traumatize' him (something that was so out of character for this cat). So we set a date to go back and get it finished. When I got him home - he was an absolute MESS. Upon contacting them I discovered that they used hand sheers - not electric and was told (quote): "We are just not professional groomers so we don't have all the equipment that professional groomers would have at their disposal." No wonder he was 'agitated.' No animal should ever have to be sedated for a simple grooming - and if they had been up front and said that they are NOT professional groomers in the first place, I would have never have subject my cat to such traumatization. They viewed this as a quick and easy money grab and I would be extremely leery about using any of their services or taking any of their advise. Read Less

My dog had a cough, and the vet recommended $400+ in X-rays. Turns out, was just Kennel Cough. Wish the vet would of informed me of what I now know was an obvious and common condition. Expensive mistake. Read Less

I was so impressed and greatful for the staff at 4 paws. I took my dog in and they wasted no time at all to get her seen. ( even though to the general eye she really didn't look as sick as she was) but the staff was immediately there to help us. I don't have a single complaint or thing they could have done better, you could tell everyone I had the pleasure of meeting genuinely cared about the health of my baby. I will be forever greatful to this amazing clinic and the people who work there! Read Less

Our sweet kitty got very sick on a Sunday and our regular vet was closed, we found 4 paws and were able to get in right away, they were very supportive at what was a very scary time for us. They let us know exactly what to expect, didn't push us to get unnecessary expensive testing done when other vets would have pushed us very hard to do so, recognizing that in our cats case it was best to try medication first rather than put her through the pain and stress of a biopsy if it wasn't needed (also saving us the money). They went over all of the options with us, gave us a very detailed quote to make sure we were ok with everything and knew what all of the expenses were for, and answered any questions about the procedures before proceeding (usually I just get a basic summary of what has to happen and then the bill after at other vets). We had to leave our cat for almost two days but they encouraged us to call as much as we wanted to check in, and were more than willing to answer any and all of our questions. They are quite busy, but if we had a question a vet tech couldn't answer it was never long before we got a call back from one of the vets who would go over everything with us. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a vet clinic and our very timid cat seemed completely at ease with their staff which is amazing to us, and we could tell she wasn't just cared for physically but emotionally as well. I would highly recommend 4 paws and I now consider them our primary vet.The other great thing about 4 paws is they do house calls and have a 24/7 Veterinary Hospital, that books appointments at any time including evenings and weekends, and they provide the animals with round the clock care. Usually if your pet is really sick you have to shuffle it back and forth from your regular vet to the emergency clinic at night and on the weekends, and pay both your vet and the emergency clinic. The Vets are very kind and understanding however, our first appointment we had to leave after waiting 45 minuets past the appointment time, I found out after it was because a surgery ran late, the next appointment we waited 30 min with no explanation. I recommend telling your clients of any delays when they check in. It is very frustrating to have to leave and rebook. After the initial appointment we have had a few emergencies with our new dog and they were able to help us quickly which was appreciated. My main issue, and the reason for a lower rating, is the consult/exam price. It is 75$ to have my dogs temperature and heart beat checked and be spoken to for about 3-5 minuets, and we have been charged this every time we visit. That is the main reason they are only my "emergency vet" and I have another, vet a little further away that is equally as qualified but doesn't charge an arm and leg for 5 minuets of their time. Over view: Great staff but, high costs. If you are looking for a regular vet for check ups and vaccinations I don't recommend this office. If you have an emergency or immediate concern and can't get to your vet, or it is after hours I highly recommend them. Read Less

Just took my cat there after midnight tonight for an emergency visit and was so impressed. My cat was very stressed and not feeling well, but Dr. Chelsea De Carufel got down on the floor with her and calmed her down (something that no other vet has done so easily). I was also very happy to find that they do not charge extra for late night visits, even when we've never been there before! We'll definitely be switching our regular services here and strongly recommend it to all pet owners. Read Less

Brought in my small chihuahua in Oct 9, because neck & eye swollen and itchy over his entire body. Figured it was an allergy but wanted to make sure. Front desk got us in quickly when we called and saw Dr Fuller. Young doctor and helpful. Confirmed prob. Allergy. Overall good experience. I will say I was nervous and was overloaded with info and just wanted to confirm if no change overnight....she didn't like that because she gave me a look and said..."Again...if no overnight change...etc etc". We've been going to see Auntie Emma since 2012 and followed her when she opened her own practice. The house call service is invaluable. We have 3 cats who do not take well to travel. Two are 17 and our youngest is 13 years old. The stress of leaving the house to be poked and prodded is too much for these elderly friends so having Emma available for house calls has been a game changer for us. Couple that with 24 hour care if we do have to go into the vet and the choice has been clear. But that's not even touching on how genuine Emma is in her care of our fur children. You can tell when she visits our home or we bring our dog into Lady Hammond that she truly loves animals and is all about their well being while still being reasonable, I've never felt pressured into procedures or taken advantage of with sales pitches on product. Our two oldest cats are 17, one of them is a diabetic, they're a lot of work. She has never made my Husband and I feel like we're not doing the best by them, and she's reasonable in her assessment of how to care for them. When I brought my small dog in to the clinic for the first time Emma got down on the floor to do his examine because "small dogs aren't great on higher tables" and this would be better for him. For me, having a high level of anxiety about my pets care and well being, this was a big deal. I could list 100 times she and her staff have gone above and beyond to help us in our pets care. What a great place! I'm not sure if Archer (our dog) is more excited to see Dr.Slater or if Dr.Slater is more excited to see Archer. He actually loves going there.
