My cat had worms and they squeezed us in last minute before they closed for the weekend. Can tell the receptionist and vet tech like working there. Vet was awesome. Friendly staff, thorough medical care and well kept building. Dr. Hughes explained the pros and cons of each vaccine my dog could get and never tried to sell me on ones she didn't need. Really enjoyed my visit and will continue to bring my doggo there. Read Less

Doctor Tyler and his team have been great with Leonard, our sick kitty. They laid out all of the options for us, their recommendation, and told us which options would yield which results. He snuggled our cat on the floor while he talked to us and made sure Leonard was comfortable. Definitely pleased with the level of care. He was willing to come in on his normal day off to help our kitty, which is amazing. He never passed us off to someone else. The only complaint I have is that one of the ladies who answers the phones called back about an appointment and was quite blunt and a little patronizing about the options we were given. We discussed this problem with Dr. Tyler and he said that shouldn't have happened. Read Less

Dr.Tyler has taken really great care of my Long Coat Chihauhau. My 8 year old dog has been found to have Bladder Stones. Our cat Max started having trouble breathing just before Christmas - we brought him to the Sackville Animal Hospital, to find out he was suffering from Congenital Heart Failure. They helped us make the difficult decision to put our Max to sleep. The staff was very understanding and made our difficult time easier. We received a sympathy card in the mail just this week with condolences from the staff along with a paw print from our boy Max, which we will cherish always. My Oscar cat had a seizure on the weekend, and it was recommended I take him to the Sackville Animal Hospital by a coworker. To say I'm thankful and impressed with the care Oscar and I both received would be an understatement. Dr. Tyler is incredible, not only with the animals but with their humans. I was referred to Sackville Animal Hospital by one of their employees for the care of my very first fur baby, Alice!! She is a very timid little kitten but the staff at the clinic always give her cuddles and make her feel nice and safe :) I would definitely recommend Sackville Animal Hospital to any other first time fur parents like me! Every time I go there, everyone is so friendly. They keep my little one (baby not my dog) entertained and my dog happy. When you walk in for your appointment they have a greeting chart with all the names of the animals with appointments that day. And they always discuss price and your options (lower price options) which we all know is a big deal! Love you guys! Read Less

I am visiting from NB, when my puppy got sick. I called the Sackville Animal Hospital and they were able to fit him in on Saturday morning. I have had quite a few animals over the years and visited many Animal Hospitals, this is 'by far' the most thorough and exceptionally caring experience that I have ever had with a veterinary doctor. If I lived near here, I would definitely, take my cat(Felix) and my dog(Toby) to this Animal Hospital. Read Less

We discovered our beloved Westie named Zoey was ill September of 2015. She got better for a while but later we found out she had bladder cancer. Dr Tyler took very good care of her down to the last day Wednesday August 10/16. That day after office hours Dr Tyler came to our home to put Zoey down. As we sat on the lawn swing by the pool Zoey eat a huge donut Dr Tyler had brought her, he gave her a sedative so she would relax and go to sleep, then the final shot. Even though it was very hard for us to do we needed to let her go. We we're able to hold her during her final moments. She was able to pass at home were she loved being outside watching everything in our yard. Dr Tyler was so kind and caring to us all, Zoey, myself and my husband. I hope I never have to go through this again but I will mostly likely be something that I will need to do again if or should I say when I get another dog. But Dr Tyler and the staff at the Sackville Animal Hospital went over and above anything I have experienced at other animal hospitals around this country. Sincerely thank you Dr TylerRead Less

The very best! Both Dr. Tyler and all of the Staff are amazing. Dr. Tyler was adamant about making sure both our cats were comfortable with him before he started his examination. You can clearly tell he loves the animals he treats. My only regret is I didn't get a picture of Dr. Tyler cuddling on of the cats. I would highly recommend this veterinary team! Went in because my dog got bit by a deer tick. No one was there when I went in. Woman came out, didn't greet me just looked at me. I told her I had called early, handed her the tick and she walked back into the back. She then came out and said it was a deer tick. She told me to watch for limping. I asked for clarification, And she rolled her eyes at me. Her lack of empathy really disturbed me. I left with the impression she really didn't care at all. I had to call my regular vet, who told me the actually information I needed to care for my dog - if I had followed this woman's advice I might miss the signs of illness. Read Less

So as many of you know Adam and I have two bearded dragons, Apollo who is 2 and (Tiger)Lilly who is 6 months old. Sadly we did previously have another dragon, Phoenix, but she passed away. In Halifax there are 2 (1/2) vet clinics that handle exotics. Fairview Animal Hospital, and the Sackville Animal Hospital. Poor Nixie tried to lay eggs one day and well things did not go well. We needed to take her to a vet and right away! Naturally this happened on a Friday night around 11pm, and I had been previously told that the emergency vet clinic did not handle reptiles (this was misinformation), so we waited until the morning and frantically called first thing. We were able to get in to see Dr. Benjamin the exotic specialist within an Hour. Although things didn't work out for Nixie all of the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. We walked in with our tupperware container and the second they saw us they said "Oh that must be Phoenix", and you could tell they all genuinely cared about us, our lizard, and wanted to do everything in their power to help. Some of the interns who were working there stayed with her the entire time she was there, trying to make sure she ate, that her distention was properly cared for and that she was warm and as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately Dr. Benjamin was not going to be in on Sunday and Nixie needed continued care so they did all the necessary paperwork, faxed it and called ahead to the emergency Vet Clinic, so that we could transfer Nixie there (which also saved us some money as they did not have to do a full exam and assess her injury or develop a treatment plan). About a week later we received a card in the mail signed by all the staff thanking us for choosing the Sackville Animal Hospital, and then about a week after we had called them to tell them that Nixie had passed away, we received a sympathy card from them with personalized notes from all the staff. Not just signatures but real notes. I have taken many pets to many vets and have NEVER felt like the vet clinic cared so much about the animals and owners. I would very highly recommend the Sackville Animal Hospital, and will continue to make the 45 minute drive to have my dragons cared for, rather than go to the closer exotic vet because the staff are so fantastic! We have become regulars at the Sackville Animal Hospital over the past two months since we brought home our puppy. (How many needles does a puppy need!?!) The folks at Sackville Animal Hospital have been awesome. They're very accommodating and scheduling (and rescheduling...and rescheduling) has never been a problem. Friendly, helpful, and efficient staff who gush over Rory's cuteness. Well, who wouldn't? They also have convenient hours for appointments, so getting him in during the evenings is never an issue.
